Chimney Sweeping reviews in Hunt Valley

Josh was by far the most knowledgeable of the gentlemen to give me estimates. He has CSIA certification which my stove manufacturer strongly recommended. The 3 brothers who did the job were hard-working, trustworthy, and unbelievably strong! I am very pleased. I will be using this company from now on for my chimney maintenance work.

Mark was very professional and provided the service in a quality time and manner. Would definitely hire him for future work. I was told by another company that I needed more work that needed to be done but Mark advised me that it was not needed right away and saved me a lot of money.

Very nice, punctual, professional, knowledgeable and thorough. I've used them quite a few times and had the same service and experience. They gave me a list of what needed to be done to bring everything up to code since I was replacing the wood stove I've had for over 18 yrs. It needed to be replaced or have MAJOR repairs done.

Mark & Buttons responded to my inquiry promptly with a detailed explanation about possible work needed.
The response was clear and professional.  Their honesty that work was not needed at this time is most appreciated.
They are on the top of my list for future needs.

The gas fireplace was not working and they were able to get it started again.  They cleaned the pellet stove which had shut itself off.  After cleaning the stove, they stayed to make sure that everything was in working order again.

I could not review them as promptly as you wanted because, although they promised the work would be done the week of June14th, I had to call Monday June 23rd to remind them. They then scheduled me for the next day.  They were also willing to give me the flue cleaning offer now on.  The price stated was in addition to the original offer accepted.

When I originally signed up for the (DEAL!!!), I filled out the online form with my phone number and 3 dates that would be my preference for having the work done.  I didn't hear anything back for about two weeks so I called the company to see what was going on.  The owner said I was supposed to call him?  Why did I fill out the form and send my cell phone number?  But moving on we agreed on a date, he said someone would be out the following Thursday.  The following Monday, I happened to be home and there were the chimney sweeps at the door.  I told them they were lucky to catch me and that they were supposed to be there on Thursday, not Monday, however since they were there they could go ahead and do the work.  The gentleman hopped up on the roof and within 5 or 10 minutes told me that he was not familiar with my type of fireplace and that someone else was going to come out to do the cleaning on Thursday the originally scheduled date.  He then proceeded to tell me that I had four small cracks in my chimney cap and that he could fix them for $450.00.  I said that sounded like a lot of money for the amount of work and material involved and I was not interested at this time.  That was the last I heard from this company.  No one has ever called to explain why they did not come or to reschedule.  Thats been 2 or three weeks ago.  I don't normally sign up for deals like this on the internet for just this reason.  I thought I would give Angies list a try and I guess the 119.00  was a lesson learned in several ways.  I won't be signing up for any Angie deals in the future and I can check this contractor off my list when I do get my chimney cleaned.  Angie, I think you need to watch the video on your site about being careful about deals that seam too good to be true, it had all the elements of my experience with Angies List!!!!!!

Clear case of bait and switch. After 15 minutes, they demanded $600 to continue their work -- $300 to “patch” the chimney and $300 to clean the chimney. When asked if they would patch the chimney for $200, originally said yes, then said they would get back to us and they left. After a week of hearing nothing, I contacted Chase. I’m prepared to pay a portion of the $119, but not all of it.

Very nice people. Arrived on time, worked efficiently to clean and inspect fireplace, then climbed on the roof to check the condition of the chimney. I was impressed at how careful they were not to leave any dirt in the room. They gave me a detailed report of the condition of the structure, verbally and in writing, as well as an estimate of needed repairs for the future. The estimate was reasonable and I will call them later in the summer/early fall to work on the repairs and conversion from gas to wood.

I thought their quoted price of $2,150 was very high. They are very good, reputable and do good work. They are very courteous people who are not pushy. We have used them for at least 10 years to clean our chimneys. They are knowledgeable and after they do the work they clean up; it is spotless when they leave.
