Day or Night Home & Hearth Services LLC
Stay away from this company at all costs. They did absolutely NOTHING right on this job and it took almost two months to complete the install (after the parts had arrived). For a company that prides itself on customer service and coordinating with all other parties to get the job done, they provided the absolute worst customer service I've ever received - and I've been dealing with businesses for almost 40 years. The installers were top-notch, but the owner and saleswoman were totally worthless and didn't care at all that they were constant screw-ups. The saleswoman lied, denying things she said to me, even though I had them in writing; she and the owner didn't care. Don't let them do this to you. They have no right to be in business.

Columbia Chimney came prepared to study and make recommendations on our chimney needs. They were equipped to look up and photograph interior from the floor level and also to study from the rooftop. The company owner also attended and consulted. They worked with us subsequently to provide a proposal and a revised proposal to meet our needs and wishes. I am impressed with their capabilities and professionalism so far, and we have hired Columbia Chimney services to perform the work estimated to be done in mid-December.

He charged us extra because it was a stove and not a fireplace. That was not in the Angie's list description. Then he told us that all the fire bricks needed to be replaced and that that would be an additional $500. We said no thank you and ordered them directly from Ace. Delivered they are about $140. And not all the bricks need replacement. We can't see if the chimney cleaning was adequate, but assume it is. However, we would not recommend this company unless you are prepared for costs on top of the agreed upon price.

Technitions arrived on time with proper equipment to carefully survey the condition of the flue and the dampers, and provide cost estimates for repair and replacement. No physical work was performed, but was postponed to next fall. All cost of the visit was covered by the Angie's List contract. No pressure was applied to conduct immediate work, and we were completely satisfied with the visit.

The gentleman I dealt with was very professional (Mike Robinson), but the firewood was terrible, he said it was seasoned, it is not, he said there was NO PINE, there were several pieces in my wood, and he said it was a half chord, it was not, so know, I'm struggling to get a good hot fire going in my wood stove, this is how I heat my house all winter long, and it's just ridiculous that people just can't be honest with you, ie, I do not have any seasoned firewood, I'm sorry, that way I would have went on looking for SEASONED wood, and not have spent $95.00 on a third of a chord of wood.  I guess it's all about  the almighty dollar, and even Angie's list can't weed these people out, But a Gentleman, Ryan Peacemaker, was completely honest with me, and told me, No I do not have any seasoned wood. And I continued looking ,only to buy unseasoned wood.

Update: I see that I had received a response from the owner, and she stated that she did not have anybody working there by the name that I had put on the review, was really confused about that because when I talked with her, she knew exactly who he was.

Now, she told me she wanted me to be happy, and I went back on a Saturday morning, and the guys there did get me some seasoned wood, very good wood, and I it worked very well in my woodstove, BUT... I had told the owner I need pieces no longer than 16" and about half of this wood was longer than that, That's ok, I will deal with it, but the bigger issue I had encountered this time was Mike's attitude, it was terrible!!! he stated he was losing money on this deal and was rushing me, which none of this is my fault!!! if he would have been honest and up front the first time, they would have gotten a good review, and things wouldn't have gone this far. and remember Laura, you DO have a employee named Mike, and can be a bit rough when he THINKS it's the customers fault.

    The Home Wise Pros Roofing
Met with a few potential companies based on reviews on Angie's List. During this process, Jay was happy to answer my questions even those based on the evaluation of another company. He was extremely straightforward with regards to what I actually needed versus what others may have been trying to sell me. We decided to goes with Home Wise Pro's despite a longer wait in terms of when the work would be performed. Other companies were able to do the work sooner but we preferred to wait as our issues didn't require immediate attention. When it came time to schedule the job, he was willing to accommodate our Thanksgiving plans to perform all work when we were away. The entire installation process was well documented with a couple hundred pictures so it was clear what work was done and why it was performed. Unfortunately, they were unable to obtain the type of wood I had requested due to lack of stock at their supplier. Due to this inconvenience, the cost of the wood was adjusted accordingly and discounted. Overall, we are really happy with the outcome at this point and would recommend him to anyone looking to replace their roof.

    Lempa Construction
We got off to a slow start, mainly because of weather. Then there were also delays because the contractor decided they needed to bring in a lift to do the job.
However, despite the delays they did an excellent job and stuck to the price which was quoted to us despite what we believe must have been additional cost due to renting of the lift. They even made a few small minor repairs and caulked some gaps in the front brick steps and around some windows commenting that these were easy quick fixes and since he had the right materials and the lift, he could do that for us easily. There was no additional cost for these items.
Our only negative comment was that in using the lift, they left ruts in the yard (remember, we had delays for rain) and broke off some branches from a magnolia tree. These were not significant issues, but acknowledging and apologizing for what seem to us to be obvious unintended consequences would have been nice.
We plan to contact this contractor again in the future and would recommend them to others.

Came in like a world-wind - never took pictures of chimney that needed repair.  Later called and said sorry they hurried, willing to offer discount on price for repair. Disappointed in the quality and attend to detail and inter facing with the homeowner.

From start to finish, interactions with folks from Columbia Chimney Sweeps went well. Ordered the gas stove from them and they ultimately installed same in a day. Very friendly and completely professional service.

They did a fine job cleaning the chimney, but were supposed to order a part and come back at a later date to fix a crack. They forgot to do that, but eventually noticed the oversight and came back and did the repair. So it worked out ok, just took longer than expected.
