They responded in a timely manner. Scheduled quickly. My text technician was professional and reassuring. My first experience with this process and Dan was wonderful and about his business. I will refer my family and friends to this company and I used a coupon from Angie's list.

The inspection went very well. James came and completed the inspection, which, seemed to me (not a termite inspector) very thorough and took less time than I thought. He checked over the whole house, from the garage to the attic, and all around the house outside. He even indulged my mother, when she asked him to look at something that was not within the realm of the inspection or even about bugs. I would use this service again.

Bill Bitz, who inspected my home, was very thorough. The inspection of the 1,250 sq. ft. house took several hours, and included inspections of all the crawl spaces and the attic. He also performed a termite inspection of the house as well as a tree stump that he suspected had termite damage. He happily answered all questions I had about the inspection while doing it. He presented me with a very thorough report at the end of his inspection and went through the problems he found and how I would go about fixing them. He was very professional and available for any follow-up questions I had.
My only complaint was the price. I was expecting it to be less, but I also had three types of inspections done, so I am not sure what the usual rate for all three is.

Clint spent several hours investigating our future house. We're buying in a historic district with some interesting features that he was able to speak knowledgeably about. For instance: he gave us a great article on the care our slate roof will need, which made us aware of the dangers of hiring someone who might not specialize in the material or walking on it ourselves. He was very good at suggesting innovative solutions for some problems we encountered (like putting in a high-efficiency woodstove insert) and helping us to rethink old systems in the house that we'd been worried we'd have to redo but which might well work well for decades to come.
He also was all set to earn a fair bit more money by inspecting two flues in our chimney--but when he saw damage without performing extensive inspections, he let us know right away and did not charge us for those services. We had a bit of a hold up in getting the roof looked at to complete the inspection, but due to catastrophic engine failure in his truck, I'm pretty sure this was just bad luck. I would happily recommend him to anyone seeking a home inspection.

I chose Jack Reilly for my home inspection because his website (http://jackreillyassociates.com/) mentioned that he filmed his inspections on DVD.  Since I was living out of state at that time and couldn't make it up for the inspection it was especially beneficial to have the inspection filmed to actually be able to see what issues were found instead of reading about it in strange terms a normal person wouldn't understand.

He came out on New Year's Eve to do the inspection and spent a good portion of his day combing through my future house.  He checked everything and anything.  While watching the DVD I was very impressed with how much he could tell about my house before he even stepped inside.  Overall I think he did a great job.  My house hasn't burned down yet (knock on wood) so he must have been very thorough.

He sent me the DVD, labeled with my name and address, promptly after the inspection and it even included a nice hand written thank you letter.  I love personal touches like that, and I really appreciated it.

I didn't cancel, and a representative showed up on the day agreed upon, but told me he would not perform the test since he saw a small spot of mold. The spot was less than 1/4 inch in diameter. I was told to spray the spot with a bleach and water mixture and he would come back the next day. Since I had already given them my credit card number, guess what? They charged me $95.00 for the 1st visit, $95.00 for the second visit, and $75.00 for two air samples. The company called me with the results a week later and claimed that I needed to have an emergency mold abatement performed, and recommended a company they were familiar with (no surprise here!). I contacted another company who came out, performed the tests, and guess what??? The mold levels were low and beneath acceptable limits. I was ripped off by Homesteaders!!!

The inspection went smoothly. Nola also pointed out items that the homeowners should address in the near future to avoid expensive repairs down the road.

They provide a quality service. The price seems right. They are pretty much a monopoly and we don’t have anything to compare them on prices. I think they do a quality job.

Jeff who came out was very professional.  I got the basement inspection and he told me what I needed to do.  I will not have the work done until Spring however.
