Woodworking reviews in Glenwood

We were extremely pleased with David's work. He did an excellent job of assembling all four cabinets. The two tall cabinets were delivered without shelves so David built and installed two shelves for each cabinet. He also did an outstanding job of building a counter top for the base cabinets which perfectly matched up with the countertop on a bar in the room. David is a perfectionist. He worked quickly but was patient when he had to slow down because of slight imperfections in the cabinet wooden pieces. We couldn't have been happier with David and his work. He was both reliable and professional throughout the project and we have already talked to him about returning for another project after the holidays.

When we moved to a new home our plan was to completely remodel the kitchen. We wanted to take down a wall between the kitchen and the Dining room behind. In addition we wanted two windows added, new hardwood flooring, new cabinetry and a lot more! We contacted VKB Kitchen and Bath once again based on our previous experience working with the same company on our previous home. We were very impressed by the great reviews the first time around and were even more impressed by the work previously done. We have just bought our new home (back in January) and Junior spent three hours with us during the consultation listening to our ideas and advising about practicalities. He was very realistic with us from the start; advising us not to stretch ourselves and get into debt with multiple projects in our home, but to focus on one at a time to allow time to save in between. He suggested we get a couple of other estimates for our own peace of mind - his honesty and integrity was refreshing from the start! Junior informed us from the start of our kitchen renovation project that quality work takes time. We were very naive about the amount of work that goes into a kitchen remodel, but having watched the incredible transformation - and all the stages in-between (including complete removal of dry wall and ceiling) - we are so grateful for Junior's perfectionist work ethic, and creativity. He is more than just a designer. He is capable of advising about design nuances that will ensure a superb finished product. We were constantly impressed by Junior's talent; there seems to be nothing that he cannot do. It transpired that the wall between our Dining room and the kitchen was load-bearing (our home is 45 years old, and Junior warned us from the start that he wouldn't know the exact scope of the work until he removed the wall). This created a some additional work, but Junior's solution resulted in an incredible addition to our kitchen: a gorgeous wooden beam to hide the support structure which replaced the load-bearing wall, and which fitted perfectly into our kitchen design. Some examples of VKB going above and beyond: Spending hours with us one evening to get the electronic design right for our kitchen prior to commencing the work Driving for hours to and from Granite suppliers to select the perfect countertop eventhough they have an impressive selection in their showroom just to ensure the slabs was big enough for our island so that there would be no seems when it was fitted Walking our dog in the day when we were out Adding a gas line outside for our grill whilst he was moving the gas line for the double oven Helping us with multiple DIY projects elsewhere in the house when our expertise failed (putting up blinds, light fittings, wood trim, shelves) Working longer hours than any contractor I have ever heard of Working weekends Getting to know our style better than we do, and therefore picking out better tiles and window casements that our original efforts We found everyone to be honest and extremely hard-working crew and just about every we encountered at the showroom has also been great and there is always a sense of humor going around in that showroom. We very much enjoyed being there. Their project manager Jason will not leave a job until the customer is 100% satisfied, and his standards and expectations for his own work are very high. Although, VKB's business model is the customer is always right, and to provide excellent customer service, we learned to be realistic with time expectations - great quality work takes time and it is not productive to rush them. Our finished kitchen was 1000% worth our patience to ensure that VKB was able to get the best parts from the best suppliers.

The original request was for Myriad to assist with repairing warped decking boards. The joists were saturated and it was determined that joists and decking needed replacing.

The technician performed all work requested and performed well. I was somewhat disappointed that the company does not want the follow-on work to replace the joists and install the new decking. Seems a missed opportunity, but perhaps they are too busy.

Lloyd was the consummate professional.  After completing another job, he called to inform me that he was running early, not late unlike other service providers. He asked if it was ok to move up the 3:30 service call to 2:30 to which I readily agreed.  Lloyd showed up on time, introduced himself, and confirmed the work to be accomplished.  Lloyd was very professional, polite, and worked expeditiously and efficiently.  I would highly recommend Lloyd for work around your home - he did an exceptional job and it was the best $99 bucks spent. We plan to call on his expertise again when we encounter any issues.

First, the original carpenter who was sent was not punctual and was a no show on one occasion.  Home Pro arranged for another carpenter who came with his assistant, determined what they needed to complete the orders.  They purchased the items and then completed the work in under 4 hours!  Other than being disappointed about the first carpenter, I am very pleased with the work done.

This is a high fence than most. It also had to attach to the side of my house. David built the fence and attached it to the house with no problems. I made several changes to the fence during the project without any issues. He was friendly and showed up on the times and dates he said he was coming. Something that doesn't happen that often nowadays. Many of my neighbors have commented on how nice the fence looks. David is currently working on my basement area now and I'll report again when he's finished.

David was very sloppy with the final detailing installing the columns. He installed regular wood on top of the pvc crown molding instead of using an AZEK material, as he said he would for the finishing touches. The wood installed was then uneven, so I called him to come back to fix the uneven wood. He then left the wood raw right before a snow storm. When I questioned him about the use of regular wood, he told me, it did not matter since most of my house had wood trim.. He would not come back to fix the messy caulking work on one of the columns - telling me to go get a painter to do it. I would not use him again.

I've had a good experience overall. Everyone I dealt with was friendly, helpful, and responsive. They started and finished the job on time. They cleaned up after themselves every day. The pedestal part of the sink was damaged in the box so they installed it and ordered a replacement. When the replacement came in they called and we set up a time for it to be fixed. The only real problem we encountered was with the medicine cabinet. There was not a medicine cabinet in this bathroom before. The medicine cabinet is one of those small square recessed cabinets with a big oval mirror. Once the light was installed they realized that you could not open the medicine cabinet because the mirror would hit the light fixture. To remedy that, they moved the mirror down a little bit (leaving the actual cabinet in its original location). The mirror no longer completely hides the medicine cabinet, you can see one corner sticking out. It's not terrible looking so we just allowed it to stay that way.
