Chimney & Fireplace reviews in Glenn Dale

Vitaliy performed a thorough inspection of the chimney on a home we are purchasing, both from the fireplace as well as at the top of the chimney, on top of the second-story roof.  He took pictures of every little issue he found, explained each picture to us, and wrote a thorough report and separate quote for the cost of repairs.  While he was on the roof (which our general inspector wouldn't climb due to the height), he also took pictures of other roof issues that were not chimney related.  We were very happy with the inspection quality and price, and will likely hire him again to perform the repairs that he identified.

American Professional Chimney and Masonry is a class act. When I called for an estimate, they came out the next day and gave a fair assessment of the entire chimney and the brickwork all around the house. Their price was right, and their estimate crew was very nice - Cesar even cleaned out my gutters to kill time!! Who does that!?
When it came to doing the job, their crews were professional all day, every day. They did great work, and I am so happy with the state of my chimney and the tuckpointing they did on other parts of the house. They left a clean workspace, taught me how to use the new flue, and went through every point on the work order to make sure that their job was done. Brickwork can be noisy, especially when you have to demolish half of the chimney, but other than the tool noise the men were polite and quiet - no stereos blasting or loud unnecessary shouting.
I am very happy with my experience, and I will call on them if needed in the future.

A few years ago, our lovely home was burned beyond imagination. The fire started on the stove and spread to the second floor above the kitchen and straight through the roof. We had fire, smoke and water damage everywhere. The fire department smashed all the widows to spray water both inside and outside and the overall result was a totally ruined home. You can only imagine how this looked. A nice two story home with a brick facade in front, a two car garage and finished basement all destroyed by fire, smoke and water. The roof had a gaping 30 foot hole in at and the home was ready to be razed (demolished). Options were considered and it was decided that Premier HomePro would tackle the entire job of redesigning the home, getting our permits and rebuilding the entire place. Premier HomePro was selected because they are what we learned was a design/build firm. They had in-house design capabilities and an integrated team of specialists who took us from cleaning up the charred mess to designing the home to specs. When the final design was completed, Alan Stevens from Homepro took the plans to the Home Owner's Association and to the county permitting office and with a little effort got the permit. Evidently, this process is often difficult but Alan and his team did it within a few days. After an extensive cleanup and removal off all the charred debris, the guys at HomePro did an amazing job getting the house into a position that the rebuild could occur. We had no way to estimate the amount of debris had to be removed to start our rebuild. Alan and his team filled 18 dumpsters filled with burned wood and other building materials just to bring the home to a place to start! After a few months of repair, plumbing installation, electrical and more, it started looking like a real home. The team re framed everything, installed new roof trusses, shingles, framing, insulation, sub floor and exterior trim. They passed all their inspections and closed in the walls with drywall. We have a large home so we were surprised with the ease and professionalism they showed in rapidly reassembling our home. They rebuilt all of our bathrooms and kitchens with custom cabinets and tile work, granite, a stacked stone fireplace and much much more. When it was all said and done, the home looked great! We moved into our home July 2012 and have loved everything about it. This is a company that takes great pride in their work. The Owner Alan Stevens is attentive, considerate and easy to work with. In this case, we got what we paid for which was a first class job! We recommend their integrated approach for any job large or small.

No work was performed.  This was a confusing & disconcerting transaction.  The company came ouit twice.  On the first trip they told me I needed a chase cover and replacement of the cover would be $700.  I indicated to the office staff that I wanted a cap  installed and would have to purchase a chase cover later.  Representatives came out and toook measurements, again, of the chase cover and told me that a new cap wouldn't do any good.  This representative gave me an estimate of $1,000.00, a discount from the normal $1,500.00 cost.  All I intended was to replace the chimney cap.  Since I am not prepared to replace my chase cover at this time and the company doesn't seem to want to just replace the cap, I will be asking for a refund.  I would prefer to use another company in future.

    The work was good.

Offered a free estimate. Came out in Oct. Very professional. Identified what needed to be repaired. The estimate was $740. I got some other estimates which were higher. I got a letter from the company explaining why the costs might have been higher than what I originally expected. They offered to reduce estimate cost by $25. I went with them because of this, and the fact that they were on Angie's List. We set up a time for the appointment between 10-2pm. They hadn't shown up at 2 so i called and they said they were finishing up a job and would be there soon. They were there within 15-30min. The guy got up on the roof and then told me that he couldn't do this work. They guy said he did cement work and could not do bricks. I called the office and they apologized for the mixup and said they would send out another crew a couple days later by noon. Nobody had shown up by 2 or 3 on that day. I called and they said they a crew was finishing a job in the area and they would be there soon. He called back and said the job was running longer and the crew would be out the next day. The crew came out the next day, they completed the crown but they said they were uncomfortable doing the brick work on the rake. Below my chimney I had a heat pump, I put a tarp over that because of the cement chunks they were taking off were large and were dropping down near the pump. The foreman said the rake was above his expertise level. He said another crew would come out to finish the rake. I called and they said they couldn't make it out that day. When the second crew came out, the mason was very skilled and knowledgable about masonry. He finished the rake, and i told him that I would call the office and pay by credit card. When I called, I offered customer feedback. I told her my story and she advised that I speak to the manager before paying. She said they would have the manager call me and they didn't follow through. I get ahold of the manager 3 days later and go through my concerns. I told her that I wanted to rate her company highly but I felt like I wasn't treated in such a way to reflect a high rating. I go up on the roof a few days later to inspect the work, and I found a lot of dust and debris in the gutter. If that had gotten wet it would have solidfied like cement and would have to be chizzled out. I took it all out, and I got about a quart and a half of dust and debris. Luckily I caught that before any moisture was able to completely solidified it. The manager was embarrassed about this so she knocked a $100 off the job.

The quality of the work was okay, but they promise things but doesn't follow through. The first crew that came out didn't clean up well at all, but the second guy that came out was very clean and professional. I don't know if I would recommend them to others now. I did appreciate them willing to make some restitution for the problems that I experienced.
