This is a very poor company. I cannot stress enough to please investigate this company before signing any paperwork with Harry. They do incomplete and shoddy work. They totally destroyed my backyard. I have mounds of dirt, rocks and dried up cement embedded in the ground. I was having an addition added to the back of my house and it was supposed to take 6-8 weeks. It is still not completed. He took our money and did not provide the services that were in the contract. The addition will need to be fixed or torn down. They used incorrect wood and half of the wood is bowed. The slab foundation was hand poured and done in two sections. It barley passed and it looks terrible. There was supposed to be a rough in for a bathroom installed and that never happened. They left a very small opening in the concrete for the plumbing and now I am being told that a rough in cannot go in there now. This should have been done before the cement was poured. Now I am being told that they would have to tear up cement and bust up my current bathroom up. There are many safety issues with the current structure. Harry fails to follow up on e-mails or to update you on a daily basis what is going on for the day. It is like a guessing game on whether the one man crew was going to come to your house to work for the day. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!

He did really good. He did a good work. He did a good solid work. He made sure everything was leveled. He actually raised the cement floor. He built a floor above it so that we would go straight out of the kitchen into the garage to the laundry room and to the bedroom. I liked his work. I thought he did a good job. My daughter and her boyfriend said that they were a little messy through their lunch wrappers out in the back but I wasn't there. All I saw was the work that he did for me and I liked it. He didn't give me a written list of the labor and the materials. I really wanted to have a contract. He was a little bit laid back and he's like a country boy. I really liked his work. I would hire him again because I feel secure in his work. He did it by the code. I have no problems with the inspection or anything.

It took about seven people about a week to finish, but that was just because we had a few days of rain. It took two days for them to come and take everything down, about a day to construct a new pad, and an additional day to put up the new shed. I really liked the quality of the shed in the end and the friendliness of the owner and all the workers.

We are writing this review as a public service. We don?t want others to make the same mistakes we made.
Hiring this company was the biggest mistake we?ve made in 15 years, maybe longer. The second mistake was paying as much as we did for what we got in return. We paid 95% of the bill before we were even aware of the problems with the work?or who we were dealing with!
Buyer beware! Just because a company says it is licensed to work on your home doesn?t mean that it is. This company, we discovered very, very late, is not licensed to do home improvement work in the state of Maryland.  The law says you have to be licensed to work on people?s houses in this state!
AND, just because a company says it has been in business for a long time does not mean that it?s true. Talk is cheap. This company brags on its letterhead, and on Angie?s list, and to you in your living room, that it?s been around ?satisfying customers? for 36 years. According to the Better Business Bureau, however, this company has been in business for just 2 and a half years!
Small consolation, but the 5% of our payment that we withheld from this company will help offset some of the expense it will cost us to pay a licensed contractor to (1) complete the job;  (2) re-do the sloppy caulking and the  inaccurately cut vinyl trim; and (3) repair the damage caused by the company. To be sure, we will be paying more than we originally bargained for back in March (it?s now June and critical areas in need of caulking around our chimney have now been exposed to two storms, with a
    tropical storm expected this weekend.
For information about the way the president of this company does business, check the reviews on Angie?s List for this man?s former company (Stewart Enterprises LLC). You?ll be doing yourself a favor.
Had we done our homework, we would have learned that Stewart Enterprises, Inc. is a  new company?not the 36-year-old company we were told it was. We would also have learned that this company says on Angie?s List that is a licensed home improvement contractor, the state of Maryland says otherwise.  You should call  410- 230-6231  (or toll-free at 1-888- 218-5925). For faster service,  go to https://www.dllr.state.md.us/pq;  click on ?Home Improvement,? and then key in
the name of the company you are about to pay a bundle of money to before you actually pay it.
You should also contact these agencies. They are also very  helpful to homeowners:
    1.      Better Business Bureau/Greater Maryland at http://greatermd.bbb.org/consumers/  or call  (410) 347-3990.
    2.      Consumer Protection Division of the Maryland Attorney General?s office: http://www.oag.state.md.us/consumer/.  Or call them at 410- 528-8662  (or toll-free at 1 -888- 743-0023)
If after doing your homework,  you still want to do business with an unlicensed contractor?who therefore does not contribute to the fund that helps bail you out if and when he goes  bankrupt, and consequently makes you ineligible to receive funds for your loss, then good luck to you. And if you should dare question the quality of the work you get for your money, I hope you don?t
get the same rude, demeaning, and insulting treatment that we got?and that another homeowner got  who did business
with this man?s former company (see the review mentioned above.)  That man says he was  bullied over the phone, and we believe him.
We?ve learned to avoid the phones with Mr. Lindsley and communicate our issues through detailed e-mails and photographs with notations about the location of the problem depicted on each one. By the way, just before we parted ways, we were told to stop sending pictures and ?stupid? e-mails.
Also, if you are asking for references, which you should by all means do, follow up until you get them. And if you don?t get them, move on to someone else.  Another lesson we learned the hard way.

    C.A.R.E. Home Improvement
They answered my call the first time I called. They spoke with me and made an appointment to come talk about what I wanted done. They listened carefully, took measurements, and said they would get back to me within a day or two with a price and a drawing for me to see. They were very thorough and timely with everything they did and promised,. They came in and got the work done and the floor, closets and bedroom are now beautiful. I can't say enough.

The crew of four arrived first thing as promised, unloaded everything quickly, and built a wonderful shed in our backyard in less than three hours. They were professional, quick, and cleaned up completely afterwards. And we are very pleased with the quality and construction of the shed.

    M B NICHOLS CONTRACTING
Since the work resulted in a great improvement over what existed before, I am very pleased with the outcome. Mike gave me exactly what I wanted and cleverly solved some tricky problems. My only complaint is that because he and his assistant worked so fast, I was unable to closely supervise the work, and only after the job was completed (in 2 days) did I discover several minor imperfections, which he later offered to repair.
