General Contracting reviews in Glen Burnie

  • Bill did an excellent job. He was efficient, hard-working, and very polite. He completed the job under challenging conditions--it was in the 90s and very humid. We offered to let him complete his work another day, but he persisted and got the job done in one day. I would definitely hire him/this company again.

  • Not good. Was going to change my kitchen sink faucet but was unable due to the fact that the water could not be turned off. Good thing because David Campbell was going to charge me $300 for a $150 faucet he got from Home Depot, was not a direct replacement of what I had (as agreed). I did get by front door replaced, but that was also a nightmare. The door was white; my door was brown in the hall and white inside. I had to argue to get him to David Campbell to paint the outside of the door. Then I had to argue to get him to paint the inside of the door (which had scratches and marks on it). The price was too high also. I am not sure why this company is getting an A on Angies List, but I will not do business with this company again. I also urge anyone thinking about it to ask a lot of questions, then move on to another better company.

  • Jay and his crew were very professional.
Jay honored his appointment times and tried to give me realistic start dates which were contingent on the weather. He had to postpone one scheduled start due to weather but Jay informed us when the date was changed. The existing roof was very old and a wind storm had lifted an old ridge vent section. That problem was the signal that the roof needed to be replaced. It's noteworthy
that another spring storm ripped off the old ridge vent completely leaving the gap open to pending rain.  The contract had been signed but work was not scheduled for another week. When I told Jay about the problem, he had his foreman, Elmer make a special Saturday trip to put a temporary layer of shingles down on the ridge. The shingles and all of the materials were delivered by another company a few days before the job. My roof was in bad shape and we asked Jay to schedule it ASAP. It should be noted that the contract was signed on March 17th and the roof was completed one week later.
The job was scheduled to start around 8 AM on the following Thursday. There was a pretty bad accident on the Beltway but Jay called shortly after 8 AM to advise me that they were delayed by traffic. They arrived at 9 AM. , The crew laid tarps completely around the house and they started removing the old roof. As predicted there were many sections of plywood that were really in bad shape. Each sheet was documented by photos so I could see the areas needing new plywood. They applied the synthetic paper, winter guard strip and shingles to the front of the roof. The front was largely complete by 1 PM. They completed the back roof and garage around 5 PM. As the roofers worked on the roof another crew member was gathering up the old roof shingles and damaged plywood. When the rest of the crew completed the roof, they removed all of the debris, tarps and made multiple magnet sweeps of the yard and surrounding areas. I haven't found a single nail anywhere. The blew off the entire patio, driveway areas. When they left, the yard was as clean as it was before they arrived and no shrubs or flowers were damaged. I didn't have to interact too much with the crew since the foreman and the crew was well organized and worked together well.
I've had a couple of roofs replaced on different houses over the years. I had the good luck of having another firm in Georgia who also did a great job for me. Some of my friends and relatives haven't had good experiences with roofing jobs. I think that Home Wise provided the best service, price and quality that I've experienced. Jay was punctual, thoroughly professional and explained
the process, materials and methods and answered all of my questions about the installation. I can see why the firm has more ratings on the page of Happiness than any other A rated contractor. You can add my experience and this review to the page of Happiness for this contractor.

  • It went very well. We wanted the roof for second floor stick framed instead of trusses. They were fine with doing so, and were very helpful in the planning of the garage. They wrote up the contract for the garage and obtained all necessary permits. Work included: foundation, framing, windows, electrical, roof, gutters, siding, and lighting. We wanted the garage to be well built and to look very pleasing. There is a dormer with three windows on the second floor. The only additional costs were things we decided we wanted to add in. Everyone we worked with was pleasant and professional. All work was done well and the garage looks wonderful!

  • In the beginning of my search for a carpenter, my husband & I reached out to at least 10 different companies. One of them responded, but when I detailed what needed done (the steps had to be customized because of a knee injury I have), he ended communication. The other eight never responded at all. Then I found Handyman Matters. Rose responded to my first email within 48 hours (probably less, but I can't remember the exact timing). She was absolutely wonderful and answered all of my questions. Being first-time homeowners & already putting a lot of money into the house to make it what we wanted, she suggested buying our own supplies to save some cash. We scheduled the first appointment to have someone come out & give me a list on 7/24.
Sam arrived on time and was very thorough. He gave me a list & made sure I understood everything that we needed. I was paying for an hour of service, which was their minimum, and he installed a deadbolt onto our front door that my husband was having difficulty doing himself.
On the day of install, Sam arrived on time & worked tirelessly. Due to my knee injury, we needed the stairs done in one day. He allowed my husband to help him throughout the process, which was exciting. He answered any and all questions my husband had & gave him a lot of new, useful information. They weren't quite able to finish in the 8 hours he was scheduled for, but he left it so that my husband was able to put the finishing touches on.
This company and the two people I have dealt with were absolutely wonderful. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is in search of a handyman/carpenter. We plan to use them again for other repairs that will need to be made.

  • ER Roofing did and excellent job. They understood the real damage that needed to be addressed, and quoted accordingly (no surprises).  Some other vendors only focused on shingle replacement or silly things (a solar powered attic fan).  Due to a planned trip and other commitments, it was about 3 weeks from deposit to actual roof replacement.  They were able to install a tarp over the most damaged area of the roof, keeping things dry and under control until the actual work could be completed.  Elliott at ER Roofing, was always professional and responsive to my communications. His crew was courteous, took care not to damage plants at edge of the house, and cleaned up everything when work was completed.  All work (see list above) was completed in a single day, with a 20 year warranty on all workmanship.

  • I would use them again and I definitely would recommend them especially because of their customer service. We had to call them back for one little item and it was not a problem. They came right out and fixed it. They were really good. We looked around a little bit before we decided to use them and they were priced right where we wanted it to be.

  • Very happy with the quality of the work and the professionalism.  They did a good job cleaning up.  He had to come back to finish the bathroom ceiling.  They did a very good job for an extremely picky homeowner, and finished the majority of the work in just one day.

  • Staff was wonderful, showed up on time, did a wonderful job and cleaned up after themselves. Would hire again.
