EXCELLENT. THE PRELIMINARY VISIT WENT SMOOTHLY AND ON TIME. THE PROCEDURE WAS EXPLAINED COMPLETELY. THE SURGERY WENT SMOOTHLY WITH NO PAIN OR PROBLEMS DURING OR AFTER THE SURGERY. THERE WAS NO SWELLING OR PAIN AND I DID NOT NEED THE PRESCRIBED PAIN PILLS. THE FOLLOW UP VISIT WENT SMOOTHLY AND ON TIME. NO FURTHER VISITS WERE NECESSARY. I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEM WITH IT SINCE. DR. WINNICK WAS PROFESSIONAL, SKILLED AND CARING AT WHAT HE DID.

    Robert J Wilson DDS
I arrived and checked in with Blossom...I think that is her name...an efficient and adorable lady who fits the atmosphere: very calm. I went to wait for my turn in the cozy, homey, but dated waiting room. Since Dr. Wilson is very and quot;hands-onand quot;, I had to wait about 15 min., before going in to have my teeth cleaned. Even though the hygentist was very gentle, there was some bleeding since my gums were so tender and inflamed. Dr. Wilson calmed me after inspecting the situation and said that the condition was treatable, but that in the future I would have to take better care to keep my mouth moistened because of my diabetes and medications I take that dry out my mouth. He said that over time, this plus using a harsh toothpaste and firmer-than-necessary tooth brush had contributed to the inflamation but that he would treat it with an anitbiotic rinse. He gave the large Prescription bottle to me and explained how to use it. He then gave me an Extra Soft tooth brush, recommended toothpaste product and mouthwash, and made a follow-up appointment. When I came back there was no sign of the previous problems. Nice.

I love Dr. Winnick. I always have a good experience. He is very nice, gentle, and caring. He tries to fix the problem without hurting you. He soothes you while he is working on you. His staff is also excellent.

    Winnick, Dr. Mark B.

Management is top down, and Dr. Winnick seems highly experienced and excellent with his patients, but a standard needs to be set for how his front office welcomes and handles new patients that will be bringing thousands of dollars into his practice.

In the past, I've worked with excellent, service oriented medical practices. Two encounters with the front desk staff at Dr. Winnick's office were highly offensive, and deterred me from continuing to work with his practice, even though his expertise seems high. Periodontal work can mean multiple, ongoing visits, and I didn't want to spend what would amount to hours in a waiting room with his front office team.

For my initial visit, I arrived at 7:45 am for an 8:00 am appointment, early enough to complete all paperwork as requested. The front desk staff was chattering among themselves, and not very welcoming, but I thought the full waiting room must be a good indicator. When I completed the paperwork and returned it the billing person (Julie??) she had questions about the insurance contact information, and instead of calling me over to speak at the desk privately, she loudly questioned me across the waiting room and assumed a demanding tone when I approached the desk to clarify and provide her with what she needed. My insurance company doesn't provide cards, so I had mistakenly not given a contact phone number. In her words, how did I expect her to contact them? Yes, Julie . . . you were right. but was that the way to speak to a first time client of your business?

I'd taken the time and energy to research this business on Angie's list, and to arrive early, and I was spoken to as if I would be an unpaying criminal. I was shaken by the exchange, already concerned about the visit and potential costs for major amounts of dental work, and she was a very poor first representation of the business. When I did go back to the doctor, I felt very unsettled and was in the process of leaving. The doctor entered and calmed the situation, and did a thorough exam.

2nd encounter with front desk person was just as horrible, and I'd had enough. I called on my way to say that I might be 5 minutes late. She assumed a lecturing tone and told me that the staff had been there since 7:00 something in the morning and not to be any later. At first, I accepted her response and hung up. But i immediately called back and told her just as rudely to let her team go.

On my first visit, I was kept waiting unti 8:25 to be taken back for my appointment and waited further in the chair being prepped. That's almost an hour after arrival. But yet, I didn't complain although my time is valuable as well. And yet she had the gall to lecture me discourteously about being 5 minutes late.

Periodontal work can require many visits and the thought of being continuously treated this way and giving thousands of dollars in services that help pay her salary was intolerable.

I like him personally. He is thorough with his examinations and fair about pricing. I don't know about his normal regular charges, but he has given me a break a couple of times from things that I had to pay for myself. I don't think there anything particularly that I dislike about him. I like his hygienist and I go to the same one all the time. I have gone to her for 3 years and I think that she is very good at what she does.

He is the one who has been with me since back in the 1980’s. I see him every four months, and I already made an appointment with him.

I like him.  The billing and administration is comparable.  I would continue to use his practice in the future.
