    Everything went about as perfect as I could have hoped for. Billy was great to work with, from the initial meeting all the way through to the final walk through of the system. The installers worked quickly and did a great job keeping the lawn disturbance to a minimum. Billy was always on time with his scheduled visits as well as the installers arrived when they were scheduled. Phone messages and emails were always promptly answered back. Things couldn't have gone more smoothly on my end working with Hydro-Tech.

    Since I was not on site while the work was being done I cannot give details.  But I can tell you that my renters were overly impressed with the quality of work and professionalism that was demonstrated.  Verbally, Craig gave the project 5 days but was completed within 4.

On the day of the installation they arrived on time and completed the job in a single day. So far the system works exactly as intended.     To make a long story short, later in the day of course the machinery broke two water lines and severed 2 wires, both of which were not in expected locations from the diagram we had.  By examining the control box, we determined that at least one of the wires was the main power for the valves for the whole system.  We were concerned because this wire crossed the path of the French drain, which would be filled in with gravel.
    em. I called Hydrotech, explained the situation, and asked that someone come out and advise the contractor to how to proceed with respect to exposing/capping  water lines, and with respect to the wiring, which was what I had asked for in the first place.  Hydrotech wanted the landscaping job to be finished (which would bury the ends of the wires and the water lines), then they would come out and dig up everything they needed to repair the system, which would be destructive to the hardscaping and very expensive.  I only talked to the receptionist, I never talked to the manager or even the technician who had been there.  I and my contractor found the entire interaction unsatisfactory and unprofessional.   Hydrotech eventually scheduled an appointment for the technician to come out  the afternoon the landscaping was to be completed and "evaluate" what had to be done (which probably could not be done without digging, since the entire area would be filled in and hardscaped by then).
    I found another Irrigation company in Frederick, who put me through to the president of the company.  He came out the same day, evaluated the system, will send out a technician to reconnect the wiring and cap the plumbing before the hardscaping is begun, and talked to the contractor about how they would complete the irrigation retrofitting without disturbing the hardscaping.  It took approximately 30 minutes   This is what Hydrotech should have done.  I am changing my regular servicing to the second company,(whom I will name and review after they have completed the work).

    I had signed an agreement for FountainheadIrrigation to start up my system in the spring at a rate of $165.00 for the visit.  I chose the company because it was local and easier to have come to my house even though they charge 50% more than my old company.  The technician was pleasant and on time but he spent little time doing nothing more than reporting that there is no power to the back part of the system and repairs are needed.    I received a repair estimate by email shortly of $355 to repair the nozzles and leak at one head and $120 for the broken roter, plus another $1200.00 for the up to two hours to repair each of the other four zones.  The total was $1675.00.  I was flabbergasted and declined to accept the contract.  I received a bill for $165.00 for the technician and I was appalled to be paying so much for 20 minutes leaving the system not running.  I contacted another company to give me an estimate and they told me to make sure the water was turned off to the system because a cut in the wire may also mean a cut piece of pipe and a constant water leak.  I shut off the valve.    On 5/25/11 I contacted the FountainheadIrrigation and spoke to the owner's wife and expressed my dismay and dissatisfaction at the charge of $165.00 and the estimated charges for repairs.  She said that the charges are only estimated and that they would charge up to the $1675.00 which I concluded makes it likely that the work will reach that maximum.
