"Very pleased with the professionalism and responsiveness of
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
& Carpet. I just completed a complete kitchen remodel, and selected the tile for the backsplash there. They also installed. I worked with
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
, one of the co-owners, and found him to be professional and responsive to my needs. He came out to the house personally to do measurements. The installation went beautifully; I love my new kitchen. Quality tilework -- and I know whereof I speak, as I had a bathroom remodel about five years ago where the tile was very poorly done (NOT done by
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
& Carpet). The difference in the quality of the installation is glaringly obvious.
I also selected a carpet remnant to be bound for area rugs to cover part of the new wood floor in an adjoining room. Good job on the binding. They will also be binding a piece of carpet that will have some tricky
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
for the kitchen, and they'll be doing the cutting and binding on site, so they get it just right. Now that's customer service!
I would definitely recommend this company, and plan to use them again. (Probably to redo the bad tile job in the bathroom, once I save enough for the job.)

"I made an appointment for an estimate.
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
was right on time. He examined the situation and said that the wall board appeared to be fine. (He could have told me that more work was needed, but he didn't). He gave me an estimate and we scheduled the work. Communication was great. He and his worker arrived right on time. They put down lots of cloths to protect my carpeting and flooring.

They finished the job in less time than was originally estimated (saving me money). They did beautiful work. They cleaned up meticulously behind themselves. They even cleaned and polished the tile and the shower doors. It looks beautiful. I have already signed a contract to have painting and cabinet refinishing done.

's explanation of the work involved, we signed a contract with
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
and scheduled a start date.
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
started the job on time and showed up on time everyday. He was willing to work with our schedule when we had different scheduling conflicts.
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
also kept in good communication with us throughout the job so we knew of any decision points about the design or construction. In fact, everyday
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
reached out in person or via phone to make sure we understood the state of the work and the upcoming decisions that we might face.
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
provided recommendation for both materials procurement and the layout of the shower and the tile design.
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
's experience and quality craftsmanship where very apparent when he explained the work and the numerous options in the remodeling process.
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
worked on the remodeling on contiguous weekdays until it was finished and completed the job only a couple days beyond our expectation. Most of the delay in completion was due to some complexity encountered during construction and redesign that we requested. The shower turned out beautifully and I'm verify satisfied the outcome.
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
's contract included 3 equal payments that totaled the estimate: The first at contract signing, the second at the completion of the roughed in shower and the last at project completion. There were no surprises throughout the construction and no surprises with the cost. I paid exactly what I expected to pay, despite the fact that I requested some changes in the design after some of the tile had been laid. If I have future remodeling needs, I would highly consider
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked

"Quality workmanship, I couldn't be more pleased. I ordered and purchased most of the materials myself and Mr.
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
did the installation. He did, however, do the cabinetry for the vanity and it is beautiful; better than anything I could have ordered through one of the 'kitchen/bath stores'. He made the medicine cabinet door and mirror trim from the same cherry wood to match and it looks wonderful. Mr
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
made sure I was happy with everything as work progressed. He worked quickly and was attentive to my schedule as I had guests coming. He picked up some of the bulkier items for me when the orders came in. We had a problem with the manufacture of the countertop and he handled it professionally and everything turned out great. I will call him again when it is time to do my next bathroom.

"Although I knew the basics of what I wanted, I hadn't quite made up my mind about everything.
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
, the designer, was extremely helpful with suggestions and always discussed the price with me. He made recommendations about what would look best and the quality of materials, and almost always offered more than one option. The bathroom was completely gutted, a wall removed, plumbing and electrical re-routed. They removed the existing bathtub and replaced it with a porcelain tile walk-in shower. There was a lot of work involved and the cost of the labor seemed reasonable to me considering the level of effort. There was a lot of attention to detail and, I felt, a genuine commitment to performing quality work. I did think this project cost more than I had intended it to, but there were some unexpected plumbing costs. The vanity was very expensive and if I had it to do over again, I would spend more time researching a less expensive option. The work was done completely to my satisfaction, the tile work is beautiful, the cleanup was thorough, the warranty is excellent, and I would not hesitate to recommend this company."

"This was an excellent experience for me and I am completely delighted with the final results. I had a limited window of time to have this project completed and
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
did an exceptional job meeting my schedule, with time to spare. Every aspect of the project went as scheduled from the first meeting to the last day. I appreciated all the input that
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
and his team gave me from the initial design, the color and material selections to the design patterns for the tile and backsplash. Everyone was professional and respectful of me and my home. They did an excellent job of cleaning up at the end of each work day and did their best to minimize my inconvenience, living in a home that is being remodeled. The quality of the work and workmanship was excellent and all work was completed within the original budget. I will certainly use
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
for any additional projects.

"This company contacted me to set up a follow up appointment for the work after I had initially posted a failing review on Angie's List since the work had not yet been performed. I don't think they had plans to contact me otherwise. The workers were supposed to arrive at 10:00 AM and didn't show until 11:00 AM, but I often find that to be the case and wasn't upset. The men used a small steam cleaner and a $4.00 tube of silicon caulk to complete all of the work. As I previously described, the work was not done even close to what I would consider a standard quality of workmanship. The caulk that was applied should have been grouting in certain areas. It was a bright white and quite conspicuous, as compared to the original clear caulk. The completed job improved the appearance of most of the grouting in the bathroom and shower floors, but if I gave it a grade from A to F, it would get a C minus at best. The re-grouting was a rip-off and the caulking was an F for quality. There are areas where the caulk looks smeared, where there are still small gaps, and worst of all, I cannot believe that they caulked OVER TOP of old bathroom caulk without removing any of the old caulk first! It was obvious why they finished in just over an hour. The supposed value of the steam cleaning was $200.00 and the additional work cost $199.00, for a reported value of nearly $400.00! It cost me $298.00, but the real value was probably less than the $99.00 "Angie's List special pricing!!!!" It appears to me that companies like this either write their own reviews for Angie's List, or have a few "satisfied" customers (perhaps relatives) write reviews to get themselves a good rating. I am not a negative person by nature. I actually do motivational speaking, but part of taking charge of your life is to understand that it is unhealthy to allow yourself to be taken advantage. I feel that this company's workmanship is so sub-par that they should probably have their license revoked, providing they actually have one. I do intend to contact the Better Business Bureau of Maryland as well to file a report. The one worker didn't appear to speak any English and the one who did was functionally illiterate. When he told me the additional charges were $199.00 he didn't take any measure to get me an invoice or receipt until I requested one. When he was writing out the invoice, he could only fill in the price and handed me the invoice to write in my name and address and the words "Clean and repair grout and caulking," because he couldn't spell any of those words. I think it is essential to send at least one worker who is able to communicate with customers. My experience with this company leaves me with the strong feeling that their workers contain no certification or special training, they are accustomed to a Bait-and-Switch routine, falsified at least some of their reviews with Angie's List, and likely don't deserve to be in business at all. I nominate them for ANGIE'S WORST LIST and would tell anyone to avoid this company at all cost!!!!"

"Highlights:
In November 2010, we selected vinyl, carpet and tile and provided down payments to provide vinyl for my kitchen, tile in front of two fireplaces, and carpet in most of the remaining floors of the house (everything except the bathrooms). Our sales representative assured us that knowledgeable and experienced people work at
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
and that our choices of carpet and vinyl were not out of their work experience.
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
sent and left unsupervised, a problem employee to install the vinyl. Three months later
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
had yet to finish my floor after being allowed so much access to my home. I no longer trust that
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
has knowledgeable and experienced people at their store for vinyl related work.
There were three opportunities for
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
to identify the carpet that was installed as defective from the manufacturer: when the store
accepted delivery from the manufacturer; when it was measured, cut, re-rolled, and labeled at their store for installation; and finally when it was installed. I no longer trust that
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
has knowledgeable and experienced people at their store for carpet related work.
This being the case, I asked for much of my money to be returned to me. The money was paid to
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
in good faith for their
knowledgeable and experienced people. This service was not provided.
Bottom Line: I want my money back and they can have the products back. My credit card company helped me resolve the dispute, which resulted in the return of 47% of our money six months after the ordeal and we got to keep the faulty products. Now in 2013, we are ready to start replacing everything by the tile.
Tile Installation
Although the tile installation took significantly longer (three months from contract signing) than the vendor indicated during the sale,
I am not disputing the final product. They installed the tile on 12/20/2010 and were two tiles (18” by 18”) short because of two broken tiles and no spares. They did not re-order more tiles because of their corporate policy on shipping charges, so the final installation did not take place until 2/5/2011.
Vinyl Floor Installation
The vinyl floor was installed on 12/16/2010 and I immediately noticed a bubble in the floor near the major seam. I also noted that the seam running the entire width of the kitchen had a glue trail smeared over the finish with some particulate matter. I told the salesman
about this on 12/20/2010, when he and his floor/tile crew were physically here installing the tile and they verified the problem.
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
made five attempts to repair the fault installation on 1/5/2011, 1/11/2011, and 1/19/2011, when the General Manager came out to see the problems with the vinyl floor and the carpet. The fourth attempt to fix the vinyl floor was on 2/10/2011. The general manager stated that if he could not clean the particulate matter out of the finish, then he would need to replace the entire floor as it was on both
sides of the seam.
The fifth attempt to fix the vinyl floor was on 2/21/2011, the general manager, attempted to clean the seams using three or four different
cleaners/ formulas. When he was finished, he applied a seam sealer. He told us to evaluate the repairs when the lighting is better in the kitchen. On 2/22/2011, I noticed that the white particulate matter has reappeared and also that he made three long cuts at the seam that now show the middle white part of the vinyl (i.e., he cut the top colored portion off). The seam is now more noticeable than before.
At this point, I am decided to ask for my money back. I do not have confidence in the installer or the store to re-install all this vinyl.
Further, I do not have another day or two of time to take off so they can perform this service. I am a consultant, so I do not get paid when I do not work.
Carpet Installation
The salesman stated it would take two days to install the carpet. The actual installation started on 12/22/2010 (9am to 10pm), continued on 12/23/2010 (9am to 10pm), and completed in a hurry on 12/24/2010 (9am to 4pm). They had to return on 12/27/2010 to remove excess glue on the wood used between the carpet and vinyl and carpet and existing stone flooring in the foyer. They also attempted to repair a seam in the master bedroom, which was not lying correctly. The installer stated that the carpet was cut a 1/2 inch too small in that room and they had to stretch it to make it fit.
On 12/27/2010, I noted several pulls in the carpet pile and reported it to
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
. On 1/19/2011, the General Manager (GM) inspected the carpet and found that the colors were not consistent from one seam of carpet to another. He also noted that many loops in the pile were missing (e.g., holes in the carpet) and that it was pulling and wearing. The GM contacted the manufacturer for an independent inspection. During several conversations with
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
staff, it was clear to us that they knew the carpet was defective and installed it anyway.
During the month since the carpet was installed, numerous pulls and snags have started showing up all over the house as well as problems with the seams throughout.
On 2/3/2011, an independent inspector came to take pictures, review the carpet manufacturing defects, and take a sample of the carpet for testing. Since the carpet inspector was here, the carpet continues to wear and the number of pulls and snags are increasing significantly.
On 2/19/2011, the GM called mentioned that a carpet determination was made by the manufacturer, but he hasn't had time to call them
yet and they are closed today.
On 2/21/11, the GM mentioned that the manufacturer (
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
) approved the complete replacement of all the carpet and they recommended I select a different carpet. The GM never heard them recommend that someone select a different carpet and they normally
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
’t approve a claim right away. The GM normally has to fight for the replacement and then they usually
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
’t allow a change in the carpet style. The GM said that he would get more information and let us know what my options include.
At this point, I asked for my money back and offered to return the faulty products. The manufacturer does not recommend replacing the carpet with the same product. I do not have confidence in the manufacturer, the installer, or the store to re-install all this carpet correctly. Further, I do not have another week of time to take off so they can perform this service. I am a consultant, so I do not get paid when I do not work.
Final Thought:
Frederick Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
has failed at three installation jobs. The first ended satisfactorily, but took three months to complete. The carpet and
vinyl are not satisfactory, as they have installed defective products. I do not have faith that allowing them two more opportunities to install products will result in a favorable outcome.
I do not trust the vendor or the manufacturer; they have had five attempts to resolve the vinyl installation. They installed the carpet even though they noticed it was defective at their store. The installers clearly had to know the carpet was defective when it was harder to install than normal. They had to raise the heat in our house to compensate for the defective carpet. They do not have my best interest in mind and I do not trust them to perform any more work in my house. They had the opportunity to return the defective carpet before wasting my time and they had five attempts to fix the vinyl.
Installing carpet through out an entire house requires the homeowner to pack up all breakables, computer equipment, and electronics. In addition, I personally moved all the antique and heirloom furniture in the house and they did not guarantee against breakage. This took several weeks’ preparation before the installers came to install the defective carpet. I do not have the energy or patients to spend
these weeks again in anticipation of another attempt to install carpet from a vendor that is dis-honest (in my opinion) and from a manufacturer that does not even recommend we use the same product that they sold us.
The Vinyl took 8 hours to install and the carpet took 36 hours to install. They have had five attempts to fix the vinyl problems, which resulted in an additional 8 hours of my time. The carpet reviews and inspections add 2 hours. The total time that I lost work amounts to 54 hours. I do not get paid when I am not working. This does not cover the time mentioned above to pack up and move breakables
(which took several weeks), only the time to be here to provide access to the home so they could perform the installation.
Bottom Line: I want my money back and they can have the products back.
My credit card company helped me resolve the dispute, which resulted in the return of about half our money and we got to keep the faulty products. Now in 2013, we are ready to start replacing everything by the tile.
