Dave and his crew were great to work with very professional and responsive to request and questions. Work was excellent and completed in a timely manner. They always cleaned up after themselves. We love our"new"house. We would definitely hire again.

I never heard back from Bob. He took my call from the road, I briefed him on my project needs, and he gave me his cell to text him and coordinate an appointment. I tried a second time to reach him and no response. This would have been the second job for Bob on our home, and the first time I gave him a great review the first time. Bob has an automated text reply on his cell. I would not recommend his services, as he was quite unprofessional.

These guys were great, very professional, knowledgeable, and fast. Gave me a heads up every time plans needed to be changed midwork to get my approval. Cleaned up after themselves and made sure everything worked the way it should be working. Only issue is they are very hard to get hold of. Other than that they were great.

Apptmt time was for 8:00 am, Bob and his assistant showed up a couple minutes early. A tall ladder needed to be brought into front door, and they were very careful not to scrape any walls or bang into the old chandelier. The old chandelier was taken down and new one installed within 20-30 minutes. While the electrician was on-site, I inquired into having an electrical outlet installed on outdoor lamppost. I was pleased when Bob quoted $60 to install and said it could be done immediately. Overall, I was very pleased with everything and would likely use Helms Electric in the future.

The work began as promised and Walter was on hand throughout the job to supervise and direct his team, and make suggestions and recommendations to improve the project. The finished product transformed our unattractive and dated kitchen into something spectacular.  Walter's attention to detail, his suggestions, recommendations and ideas led to a remarkable transformation.  My wife loves her new kitchen.  I strongly suggest you consider Walter's Home Improvement for your renovation needs.

Allan called to let me know he was running a few minutes behind, even though he was there within the window he had promised.  He was very professional and helpful.  Additional work has been scheduled.

He did a terrible job. He put a drywall but no drywall paint. He nailed and sometimes covered them over with cellophane tape. He did not finish the job. We paid for items that we did not get. We were living overseas at the time. We weren't home for three and a half months which is what he said it would take three months to complete the job. After a year and a half, he still had not done the job and we had already moved back by then. He damaged our plumbing that we had to pay $500 to get fixed. He said he didn't. But we know he did because we were home for a death in the family in July and he had left his tools out in our basement and hadn't been there in months. I removed those things and put them in the bathroom closet downstairs. He had gone back upstairs to do some plumbing and broke a valve upstairs. Because I had put his tools and things down there, the water came down there and rusted on the paint that had already been done. He tried to tell us that he didn't do that. But we knew he did because the marks of the tools were still there, exactly as I would have them sitting there. We have nothing but terrible things to say. We did go after his license. But, he lost his license at that point. We just saw his truck back on the road about a month ago. So he is back in business again. We have warned everybody about this man. We have pictures to support everything. We went to Better Business Bureau and went to the State of Maryland to go after his license. But, he had no license to go after, at that point. It was started July of 2008 and was supposed to be finished by the end of September of 2008. That's what it says on our contract, that he would be finished within three months. And in three months, he didn't even have anything installed. He charged $71000 and he probably did about $50000 worth of work. And a lot of what he did do, we've had to have it redone. It was a complete basement remodel. Although, I did 90% of the demo myself. The only demo he did was the plumbing and taking up old Linoleum tiles that were really, really stuck hard to the ground. All the other demo I did myself. He enlarged and put in a new bathroom with bath tub and tiles. The tiles are cracking. The shower pan rocks back and forth which means it's going to slip and it can't be used until we can afford to get someone in to redo it. So basically we paid $70000 for a remodel we can't use a lot of. We had baseboard heating and he said he would want to reuse the baseboard heaters and its covers instead of buying new one. He did repaint them. But there were missing pieces. So heat never was able to be reflected out and the basement therefore is extremely cold. He was supposed to put in a waterline for the refrigerator. No waterline was put in. I had the refrigerator delivered and the people were looking for the waterline and there was none. So, I had to actually call in a new plumber to put in the waterline when he had already been paid to do so. He was paid to put in an entry door, from the outside. He did not do that. He was paid to put in a screen door. He did not do that. I had ordered brushed nickel fixtures for the bathroom. He said that he could get fixtures that were exactly the same but for less because he was a contractor. I knew that's true. So I returned the ones that I had bought and he came in with Moen fixtures. But once I was home and able to do the research on the fixtures he bought, they were the cheapest fixtures that you could possibly purchase from Moen. I returned $500 worth of fixtures and it was replaced with $90 worth of fixtures but I was charged $300 plus for the cost of the fixtures. He was supposed to put a diverter in because I had a shower handle as well as the regular normal shower stream coming in from the top of the wall. There was no diverter. So you could only use the handheld shower. There was no water coming in from the shower at the top. It's on and on. We had to have the whole basement repainted last year. The last time this house was repainted was 1986. We're very clean. We keep the walls clean. We don't put our hands on the wall. So to have to have your house repainted in three years is ridiculous. That's utterly ridiculous to have to repaint an entire basement. There's no children living here. This guy was just like horror walking. We've talked to other people who are contractors and electricians who came in to fix the electrical work that was done by the electrical contractors he brought in and they knew this man. They said, "There's no way he could have handled a project this big." That it was beyond his scope. That he could do something very small. He did call an electrical contractor to have can lights put in. The light bulbs were blowing every three weeks with the can lights. So we had to get that fixed. It cost us about $2000. The reason that they were doing what they were doing was that he had put them all on the same fuse as upstairs. So if anything in the house was on in the upstairs that was causing everything in the downstairs to heat up. I can just go on and on and on. I bought a $2000 plus tub. I never even got in it. He dropped something in it. It had to be something heavy, like a pipe wrench or something similar. He just said, "Oh, you all did that" and we were living overseas. There's no way we could do that. He seemed very responsive in the first part. He actually apologized thoroughly when he knew he hasn't finished it within a year. He said he was going to come and clean the house. He gave us really big apologies but none of that ever happened. He also walked away with our handles. Luckily, our kitchen company, that we bought the kitchen cabinets from, was nice enough to give us free cabinet hardware. But he walked away with our kitchen handles that we paid for. After we had been home for about two months, he did send one of his workers to our house to do work. The worker charged me $200 for the work he did on that day after I had already paid this man for the work that was in our contract. Every time we've seen him try to get a job since then, we have gone forward and shown people pictures and let them know what we went through to make sure he didn't get the job.

    Raynor Electric
Initially had house electrical system and panel checked due to flickering lights. Found the neutral bar to be worn and easily loosened after 20+ years which was causing big sparking when oven, a/c or other high output devices turned on. Replaced electric panel and all issues were fixed. Also had outlet changed over and new spot lights installed.
Raynor Electric was a great company to use and I highly recommend and will use in the future.

Overall, my family and I are very satisfied with the work ACH performed on our basement.  Like many other reviews, we initially contacted another contractor who had performed basement remodels for some of our neighbors and that quote was approximately 5k more than ACH's, and we would also be responsible for buying the paint and carpet for our basement.  ACH arrived, took measurements, multiplied it by their square foot rate, and gave me a quote right then and there.  Pavel explained how options were priced and provided us the Angie's List discount as advertised.  He also contacted one of his recent clients who lives near us to see if we could stop by and check out the work he performed on his house (this is the house on ACH's website with the bar area, pool area, and guitars hanging on the wall).  My spouse and I stopped by that weekend, spoke with the owner (who had nothing but positive things to say) and saw for ourselves what our basement would look like.  We walked away confident that ACH would be our contractor.
Once again, as other reviews stated, ACH showed up on time, performed the work they needed to between regular business hours (we have two small children, so once dinner time came Pavel's team was gone), and cleaned up after themselves.  ACH provided suggestions on how best to design our basement.  For example, we have two metal support poles which Pavel was able to hide in the walls.  For one pole, he hid it in the wall next to what became our new wet bar.  The other pole he hid in a half-wall column.  Bottom line: you have no idea these poles exist now and I don't have to worry about my children running into them by accident.   As stated, Pavel suggested (not pressured) that I use an existing space for a wet bar.  It was something I was considering too and he was able to incorporate my design ideas (granite counter, wine rack above wet bar, room for mini-fridge).  While we do not entertain often, when people stop by they are always impressed with it.  Also, if you are on the fence about it, I would recommend it if your budget allows, because I know it will be a selling feature should you move (guys just like the concept of having access to beer in their basement while watching the game).  ACH also remodeled the existing bathroom in the basement and removed the shower we had (we never used it and rarely have guests).  We turned the space where the shower was into a large walk-in pantry, where my wife can now store a lot of our food/items from Costco.
The only negative experience I had during the whole process was regarding the television mounting.  Prior to starting work, I recommend that you have a clear idea of what type of tv you plan on mounting on the wall, where you plan on mounting it, and if you are going to have surround sound speakers, where you want to place them prior to the dry wall going up.  I believe ACH may have an option now to work with a surround sound company, but at the time it did not, so I had to do a lot of the research myself.  This is partially due to the fact that ACH had an opening shortly after we first met, so my time to plan these things was limited and I was doing much of it while the work was being done.  In the end, I was able to tell ACH where everything should go and all of my calculations worked perfectly, but you must think about it beforehand, as the wires will be punched out of the drywall, so its not something you can easily change your mind on later.
In sum, my family and I are very happy with our basement. If you notice, I am writing this review almost a year later.  There is a reason for that - I wanted to see how everything held up.  Sort of like buying a new car.  Nothing has broken, no cracks in the walls, plumbing works, etc.  So do I recommend ACH - yes.  Would I use them again - yes.

Gregg, the electrician, arrived on time and was polite, professional and wasted no time getting to work.  He installed a ceiling fixture in an upstairs bathroom, encountered some issues with the existing ceiling framing, had to go into the attic (which I imagine was quite hot that day) and managed to install the fixture to my satisfaction.  He cleaned up the area when he was finished.  He then went to work installing then automatic light sensor on the lamp post.  Initially, he put a piece of black tape over the sensor but the lamp post did not turn on.  He tried this several times to no avail.  I mentioned that maybe it would work when it got dark that night.  He gave me his phone number and asked me to call him to let him know whether or not it worked.  That evening, the lamp post came on as it was supposed to and has worked like a charm ever since.  I guess it couldn't be fooled by a piece of tape.  (:
Very pleased with the price and work performed.
