Appliance Repair reviews in Fallston

  • We've worked with both Reid and Steve from Raker Appliance and I couldn't have higher praise for their service. Both are goal oriented, focusing on the *problem* to be solved and not how long it might take, etc. In both situations, repeat visits were required (by no fault of their own) but there was never a hint of escalating the cost.

But more importantly: they convey true expertise - and honesty - that can only come from sincere and dedicated professionals. Raker cares about its work, cares about the solution, and cares about the customer's positive experience. Raker will always be our go-to experts for every appliance repair.

  • No repair was done. He reported that the two major repairs would be too costly, and recommended we purchase a new washer. He was very professional, knowledgeable, explaining everything in detail

  • Professional, courteous, honest and on-time.  In this day and age of sometimes questionable customer service, it was refreshing to experience.  Start to finish was about 100 minutes. Prices were reasonable.  Flat $125 service call.  Parts and repairs were factored in to the service call.  Internet prices for the replaced parts ran around $230.  So figure about $140 for 100 minutes of labor.  Job was cleanly completed to our satisfaction.  We would use HSAR again!

  • It was late on a Wednesday when we noticed the refrigerator was not working and everything in the freezer was thawing.  At that time there was nothing we could do but wait until the next day to contact a repair.  I immediately went to Angie's list to look up who serviced my area.  I found three different companies, but Lander's Appliance were the only ones who answered the phone with a live person for me to talk to.  That really rated them high on my list because I wanted to ensure I could get same day or at least next day service.  I understand that the service call of $99.95 is much higher than some others; however, at least I knew someone would be coming that day.  They even went so far as to understand I was at work and called me within the time frame I gave them to let me know the service technician was on his way.  This gave me enough time to get home from work to meet him and didn't cause me to sit around for a 4-5 hour time block just waiting.
The service technician, who was a master technician, was very knowledgeable and explained the process of what he would do and how it would get diagnosed/charged.  Essentially you pay the $99.95 no matter what - whether it is fixed or not - but they do consider the age of your appliance and whether they themselves would fix it or just buy a new one.  It ended up being my control panel luckily and not the compressor.  A compressor would have meant a new refrigerator.  Ultimately my repair was around $316 if you consider the $99.95 which I would have had to pay anyway which made the repair worth it to me and my husband.  I was also able to use the $10 Angie's List coupon to get to this price which was nice.
Within a matter of minutes it seemed, the refrigerator was up and cooling ;-)  The technician left and I went back to work.  When I came home later, my husband said he noticed later that day that the water/electronic temperature gages were no longer working which they were prior to the repair.  I called Lander's the next morning and the same technician was sent out to see what was wrong.  I was hopeful that it was just a wire that was perhaps not correctly connected back or not as tight as it needed to be as the appliance was otherwise working.
When the tehcnician arrived, I shared that was my hope and at first he seemed put off that I would even suggest such a thing and told me that if it is not the control panel (which can sometimes be faulty at replacement) that the repair would be more.  I was taken back as i was just having friendly conversation and sharing my hope that it would not cost any more.  The good news was that if it would have been diagnosed as something more, they would have refunded my money (they have a 90-day gurarentee) and taken back the part they put in if the total repairs would have been more than I wanted to spend.  Utlimately, the technician did find that one of the wires was dislodged.  Once all was reconnected everything worked fine.
Even though the service call was higher than most, I would use Lander's again.  They were prompt and professional both days.

  • I have a washing machine not working. I called John  who is the only one who answers the phones. He said he could come install and repair the part , he knew what part just by just listening over the phone. He mentioned it would be about $200,labor time which would be factor into the new part. He installed the new part saying the old part had been arced. I believe  he blew out circuit board. I asked him, he just ignored me. He took old part out. put new part in,  which still doesn't work. I still don't know if he damage the circuit board, he said he would get back in touch. He then called me and asked me if I wanted to repair the service board if that was the problem. I said if not too expensive. He left his new part at my house in my washer. The warehouse doesn't make the part I need he would have to call manufacture which would be $400 for that repair , I thought it was too much money. I told him this and he hung up on me. I then decided and bought new wash machine. I called him to come get his new part out of my old washer because I am getting rid of it, and now he is not answering me . I called him and asked him to come get his part. he never answered him back. I left 3 messages. I called his cell and his voicemail. I feel like he is stalling and waiting for me to get into i dont want him to say i owe him anything. i offered

  • I needed my fridge repaired - the in door water dispenser wasn't working. While the repairman was not able to repair it during the service call, he diagnosed the problem (water line frozen) and recommended the solution (turn off the freezer until the water line thawed). Worked like a charm and I avoided having to replace the entire freezer door. Very personable and helpful repairman, and I appreciated the fact that he offered advice on a simple solution rather than selling me a large, expensive repair part.

  • I called Jarvis and explained that my fridge was not keeping things cold, and the stuff in freezer was thawing out. The light with the temperature was not working. They said they had no technicians available and could send someone out on I can't remember if it was Sat or Mon. I told them I would lose all my food. She asked me to hold and they had tech in area. They sent him out within an hour or so. He had to run for a part, and came back, fridge repaired!
They were awesome to work with and responsive. I almost bought new fridge, so they saved me about 2200 bucks, on top of food in fridge for a family of 7.
    Thanks Jarvis!

  • On top of the 'walk in the door' price of $85.00, it would be another $225.00 to order the part, return and repair the dryer.  My husband absolutely refused.  I went on line to SearsPartsDirect.com, ordered the timer for $67.00 + shipping, and my husband switched out the part in less than 15 minutes.  I also found a coupon for 10% off at shopathome.com.  The dryer is working like a charm!

  • I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH MY EXPERIENCE. THE MAN WAS VERY INFORMATIVE, AND WAS ABLE TO DETECT IMMEDIATELY WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE FREEZER. HE HAD THE PART RIGHT ON HIS TRUCK SO THAT HE WAS ABLE TO REPLACE THE ICE MAKER RIGHT THEN AND THERE, INSTEAD OF HAVING TO WAIT FOR THE PART TO COME IN.

  • SEARS SEEMS TO BE A COMPANY THAT TRIES TO STAND BEHIND ITS PRODUCTS. THE HOSE WAS ACTUALLY INSTALLED OKAY THE FIRST TIME ALTHOUGH IT WAS TOO LONG AND MADE THE DRYER STICK OUT FROM THE WALL TOO MUCH. I CALLED TO EXPLAIN THE PROBLEM AND THEY SENT A TECHNICIAN OUT TO SHORTEN IT FREE OF CHARGE.
