Rock Creek Decks and Additions LLC
Steve Hessler and Rock Creek were a company I could not recommend enough. Having to get rid of our other contractor, we talked to Steve and his professionalism convinced he was the company to go with from the start. Steve and his crew came out to discuss our desired renovations and were starting the project well within the proposed timeline. The crew was there every day and we could visible progress by the time they left each night. We had to take a sunroom down to the studs and convert to a four season room. We were dealing with some water issues and they were very patient and attended every concern we had to ensure our happiness and confidence with the finished product. They always responded to any questions we had in a timely manner and we could tell they wanted to deliver a complete and quality product. Steve and Rock Creek are the first company we will call for our next project.

    NLT Construction
All aspects of the job progressed smoothly. Prior to the start of construction, Dave provided detailed drawings, which were indispensable for designing special features and selecting products that reflected our individual preferences. As in our previous job with NLT, this project ran according to schedule. When something had to be adjusted after the job was essentially finished, Dave and his associates came back to make sure the item was accomplished. Throughout the process, Dave was an excellent communicator; an email or text message was answered within minutes to a couple of hours. Dave's crew is highly skilled, fast, friendly, and trustworthy. I missed everyone when the job was done.

    BLAKE CONTRACTORS
Initially looked good in 2005, but deck started pulling apart within a year. Could not get Blake's attention to this matter. Deck is structurally unsound and Blake does not respond or back up their work. Do NOT trust them. They should not be in business because they do not do structurally sound projects. This deck needed to be replaced within 5 years.

    Andersen Woodworking & Remodeling LLC
We built our house over 19 years ago and we did not really do anything to it for about 19 years. So it was time to get modernized. I am pretty handy with the computer and rebuilt my existing house virtually in a CAD system in order to be able to visualize everything my wife and I discussed what we wanted to do over the past 2 decades. So I took about a month designing/sculpting our new interior and exterior until I got 4 different layouts ranging from the most changes to the least. I spent another two months searching and submitting my remodeling ideas to Angies List contractors and contractors recommended by our neighbors. What I quickly realized was what I wanted and what I could afford were on opposite ends of the spectrum. Also, most of the contractors had a difficult time producing a quote that conveyed my ideas. Things were missing, quotes were rushed, and even one only would do a phone quote and missed a lot of detail because they did not visit the house. I was about to give up and settle for the lowest bid with the lowest remodeling option until I contacted Anderson Woodworking. Mark the owner stopped by our house after receiving my plans and various options and spent a lot of time getting to know us and what we wanted to do. We went over our design ideas he gave us some tips and told us he would get a quote to us in a couple of weeks which we said was fine. When the quote arrived, we were elated. Not only did the quote fit one our larger remodeling options, Mark was the only contractor to portray in writing exactly what we wanted done in a simple 2 page contract. Our second largest option was the following: gutting and redoing the kitchen with ~ 100 sq. ft. granite, hardwood floors on the 1st and second floor (~1100 sq. ft.), resurfacing our old 16x20 wooden deck with new composite flooring and vinyl rails, a new patio, an 10 x 16 extension to our existing sunroom off of our kitchen, a 10x20 screened in porch over the new patio, and a 10x16 poured concrete shed under the sunroom extension. Included in the quote was all of the appliances I specified and the granite grade I wanted. Mark gave us a starting time that fit into exact time frame we wanted. That may have been a bit of luck, but some other contractors the lead time was several months later. He told us the job would take 10 weeks and that was just about the time it took plus a couple of days or so. We particularly enjoyed how 90% of the entire job was done with his team with only the electrical, plumbing, and concrete subbed out. They showed up every morning around 8am left around 4pm with the weekends off. Each day they cleaned up the worksite. They became familiar faces welcomed in our house throughout the summer. As for the finished product, take a look at the pictures, we love it! Our friends and neighbors are amazed at the transformation. My favorite part is the screened in porch watching movies at night. Now like all large projects nothing goes perfect and with such a large project there will always be minor bumps in the road. Having experienced having our house built 19 years ago, you learn to know what to look out for. Mark and his team were able to go above and beyond to alleviate our concerns and correct them quickly during the remodeling phase. At the end, the punch list consisted of minor things to finish and clean. They were also quick to respond and repair some post construction issues we had with our porch and water drainage. Mark and his team were easy to talk and were willing to put their best effort to make the customer happy.

    Winthorpe Design & Build Inc.
Horribly Disappointed in the final product this company delivered. The finish is not acceptable and they are doing nothing to fix the problem. They stated that they knew it would be an issue with what we requested (but never let us know that) and they are okay NOT remedying the work. I would NOT recommend anyone use them for any type of home improvement work. :( Many other issues. 1. mis-measured cabinetry and caused 3 week delay 2. poor installation of dog door 3. main issue is the horrible workmanship of cubbies. Totally unacceptable

    NLT Construction
I hired NLT Construction to build a sun room and deck on my home and Dave and his team are the best contractors I have ever worked with. This includes the building of two different homes and major remodeling of the kitchen, basement, and bathrooms of a third. I interviewed five A rated vendors from Angies List before selecting NLT and even in this group Dave was able to shine brighter than the others. I am an avid DIYer for home improvement and love woodworking and I do project management for my day job so I tend to be a little selective (my word, my wife describes it a little differently) on who I choose people to work on my home. From the first meeting Dave was fantastic. I had developed a list of requirements I wanted and even had mocked up possible designs on my computer to start the conversation. When reviewing these with Dave he asked many questions to make sure he understood what I was wanting. One thing I found very helpful is Dave carries his iPad with him at all times and it is loaded with pictures from all of his jobs. As we would discuss ideas he would pull up examples to show. This was very helpful as it would help turn my ideas and concepts into plans and helped me get a good sense of what the finished product would look like (and we had not even started yet). Having a big list of requirements can sometimes work against you as it will tend to drive up costs. I asked Dave to speak up when he saw things on my list that would tend to drive up costs needlessly. Not only did Dave point out some of these things he would then present options that could achieve the end result I was looking for, but for less money. Not many contractors do that. Additionally, Dave learned of my home improvement and woodworking hobby and would ask if there were parts of the job that I wanted to do to save a little money. Pricing. One thing that I like right away was how Dave does his pricing. His quotes are for his teams time to do the job. He gives you an estimate on the materials to do the job and I paid for the materials and a few subcontractors directly. This means no mark up on materials or subcontractors work. I can also tell you his estimates for materials are very accurate I tracked everything on a spreadsheet. Professionalism. Wow! Daves team did an amazing job. My project took about six weeks. The team was on time every morning and they really like what they do and it shows. Every member of the team was hard working and very professional. Every day I would get an update on the project and what they expected to do next. On every home improvement project, you discover challenges as you open up walls and find unexpected things. When these were discovered the team always had excellent ideas on how to solve the issues. The job site was kept clean and well organized. Workmanship. Wow again! The fit and finish on every joint was just amazing. Given my woodworking hobby, I generally know where the difficult cuts and joints are. And yes, I do inspect these. Time and time again I would just be amazed at how well the work was done. I highly recommend Dave and his team. The final product was amazing. The kind of thing you see in a magazine and say, I want that. I was lucky and found Dave and now I can say I have that.

    Starcom Design Build Corporation
Absolutely wonderful! From the first meeting to completion of the work, every step went flawlessly. Bob and his team's attention to detail ensured the end product exceeded our expectations! The addition looks like it was an original part of the house. The most important part of a construction project in my mind is a commitment to the timelines and check offs. Every, and I mean every, step was on time and perfectly done. At the end of each day the site was cleaned and put in order. This minimized our "anxiety" over the process. If I ever need additional work done in our house I would only call one company, Starcom. Without doubt they are the best in the entire Washington Baltimore Metro area. Thank you Bob!

    Harold Howard's Painting Service
The workmanship was professional and excellent. Mr. Howard was very responsive to all of our requests, gave a very fair price, and his team are very professional and finished both jobs very quickly, cleaning up after themselves so you would not know we had just had a lot of sanding done on the interior house job. We are very pleased with both interior and exterior jobs.  I would call him again for any painting job. He even went above and beyond by finding another tradesman to sandblast stubborn paint off of a large exterior patio and pool deck. I give him my highest recommendation.
