Lawn Mower Repair reviews in Ellicott City

It was pain free. The repairman who came out was efficient and friendly. He did not try to over sell any of the issues. He was frank with the issue and charged me for what was fixed. He advised me on what to and what not to do when storing my mower for the winter.

    Mower Masters
Small local business. Honest people. Great service. Great price. Not only did Tom get my Toro snowblower to start, but he spent extra time because my auger would not stop spinning. Tom also gave me helpful tips to keep my snowblower from having the same problem in the future. I am hesitant when using a new company (this was my first time contacting Mower Masters), but was exceptionally pleased with them and would highly recommend them.

    Mower Masters
I called Mower Masters to inquire whether they serviced portable generators. They said that they did and proceeded to ask me the nature of the problem. When I mentioned that it had been more than six months since it had been started, they recommended that I spray some carburetor cleaner into the carburetor and choke areas and see if it would start after that. Low and behold, that solved the problem. I will definitely use Mower Masters for all of my small engine repairs in the future.

The purchase went okay. I erroneously thought that buying from Finch that it would go better than from Lowes or Home Depot (can't recall which one sells JD). The salesman, Hal, specifically said it could not be delivered on 5/2 but they could deliver on 5/3 AND, he typed in that I was to be called 1/2 hour before delivery. I called late on 5/3 asking if it would be delivered that day after sitting by the phone all day and was told it was delivered the day before (5/2--the day it could not be delivered) and they left it in the driveway with the key in it on a busy street!! So I went over and thank goodness it was not stolen but they also scratched up the driveway. Customer service was lousy.

    Ridgeway Mower Service
It went very well. The employee arrived within the two-hour window I was given, efficiently fixed the problems, and was personable. I was actually expecting the mower would have to be taken in for repairs and very happy to be able to mow after he left. My only regret is that it took a week for them to come out and not too sure about the blade sharpening because it was done without removing the blades from the mower. As I understand it, the blades need to be balanced and when I drove it, there was more shaking.

    dp Small Engine Repair
Although it was a bit of a drive from Ellicott City, it was well worth it.  I had taken the mower to a local hardware store that does repairs and they said it would be at least a month and the cost would be at least $80 just to get it started - no oil change, no blade maintenance. Don said that he could have it done within the week and he did.  The mower now starts on the first pull! I will be using him again and recommending him to my friends. Honest reliable service.

    At Your Home Services
All went well once I was able to contact them.  They did not respond to an email through Angie's list outlining my needs.  When I called, they were very responsive and immediately set up a date to do the work.  They took detailed notes on the phone which were reflected in the written work order and appointment reminder I received.  They came to the house to do the work and I did not need to be present, just arrange for access to the items.  They left a detailed description of the work done as well as recommendations for future care and maintenance of my machinery.

The owner initially told me that normally the cost would be
$59 per piece but because I would be sending that many pieces at once, he would
charge me $39.99 per piece of equipment.  I asked him if there were any
other charges and the only thing he told me was that if there were any parts
that needed to be ordered there could be an additional charge for them.  Though
we picked a day for the equipment to be picked up, there was confusion on their
end.  Fortunately, I was home to give
    them the equipment.
The next week after the equipment was picked up, I asked the owner to send me
the invoice so I could prepare getting the money together but he avoided the
    subject.  Around Thursday of the
following week, I received a call saying they were running late, that it would
not be finished and they would deliver the equipment the following week.  I
started to get concerned about my equipment when it was still not ready the
following week and asked the owner to please deliver the equipment ASAP. Though
he wanted to wait until the next week, I convinced him to deliver.
Finally I received an invoice from him which was MUCH higher
than we discussed.  The charge per unit
was supposed to be $39.99 but he charged me $44.95.  He had a number of additional charges which
he never mentioned (including charges like 29.99 diagnosis fee, and a $90
delivery fee per piece).  Even though he
came to my house one time, picked up all the equipment in bulk and delivered it
one time, he charged me as if he had to come pick everything up
individually.  When I asked him about all
the additional charges he became very defensive and said I HAD to pay.  He then threatened to not deliver my
equipment until I paid the invoice at the higher quote
To make matters worse, When I got back from my work trip I
noticed a few things wrong with my equipment.
Even though I had a terrible experience thus far, I decided to call the
owner to ask him what we could do to make sure the equipment worked well.  He instantly got defensive and said it wasn?t
his fault.  He wouldn?t even let me explain
the problems before he would tell me I must have done something wrong to the equipment
such as putting bad gas in them or something else.  He said he would come out but if he felt I
did something wrong, he would charge me all over again.
Worst experience I have ever had on Angies list and worst experience
I have had since moving to Maryland.  BE

Our lawn mower was pretty old (well, 8 years old - and it was a Bolen). The guy told me it probably didn't have much life left. Well, he was right. The mower died within about 2 months of when he serviced it.

Good estimate, fast turnaround and excellent repair. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. At one point they would only service brands that they sell; they now carry craftsman and that policy may have changed.
