Woodworking reviews in Elkridge

The outcome was fantastic. The work was of the highest quality and the crew was super knowledgeable. The tile guys, Gilberto and Victor were second to none in terms of work ethic, skill and efficiency. They spent two weeks at my home doing the entryway floor tile, kitchen floor tile, bathroom floor tile, and custom shower tile. They were prompt each morning and got to work right away. They were also very good at communicating the process and keeping me up to date with what was going on, why things needed to be done a certain way, and what the plan was going forward. I can't say it enough, they were truly impressive. I would definitely recommend JBR to anyone considering doing bathroom or kitchen remodeling work.

Dave and his crew are fantastic. I've done a lot of remodel work in my life and used a lot of different contractors. I know what quality workmanship should look like. These guys are the best I've ever worked with. Period. It all starts with Dave: he's honest, detail-oriented, and extraordinarily responsive. With most contractors it's always a struggle to ensure that the work is done correctly and that the lines of communication are functioning properly. With Dave, it's the exact opposite. It's clear that he, and his guys, take pride in their work. I've used them 4 times over the past 5 years and will not use anyone else.

This is the contractor you've been looking for, but could never find!! I cannot stress this enough: Dave is fantastic. He's knowledgeable, organized, professional, responsive, and honest. His contracts put lawyers to shame they're so detail-oriented. His guys are a real pleasure to work with as well because they actually care about getting the job done right. Dave's done two jobs for me -- both were major projects, and both came in on time, on budget, and with a very high level of craftsmanship. I'm a picky client who knows a bit about home renovations and has worked with a lot of contractors in my life. Dave is literally the only contractor who has ever exceeded my very high expectations.

We ended up going with a different contractor due to cost, but we had an excellent experience with Beltway Builders. I did notice some negative reviews on here, but my experience was good, so I think it's worth it to give them credit for that. They showed, on time, for a Saturday appointment and gave me a written estimate on the spot. I felt like the estimator understood my job well and did a good job estimating it. We did have a different company out that was basically only a plumbing company and they weren't even able to do it because it involved both plumbing and carpentry.

communication to set the appointment initially was difficult, but the work performed was outstanding. The execution of the work made me forget about the scheduling issues we had in the beginning. I would absolutely use this company again as we continue our home remodel process. Thank you my bathroom looks fabulous!!

They gave me an estimate for one of the services and said the other estimate "was coming". I never received the second estimate despite multiple requests. When I tried to call and schedule for the estimate that I had been given, I could not get anyone to call me back to schedule it. The estimate was for several thousand dollars, so I am unsure as to why they did not want the work. It would have been much more professional to simply let me know that they did not have the time or would not be able to provide the type of service I needed, but they simply did not call me back.

Scheduling the initial consultation was quite timely. Adam August was helpful, informative and quick in providing a pretty accurate estimate.  He was persistent but not pushy in the time span between providing the estimate and signing the contract. Scheduling of the work was timely as well.
The office staff was quite helpful in the ordering and decision making process.
During the project, the crew was personable, professional, hard working, and trust worthy.  One of the best qualities of this company is that they are trustworthy to be in your house when you are there or not. The initial project was estimated to take 6 weeks. Unfortunately, the project ended up taking 5 months due to delays within and outside of Clarksville's control.  Clarksville was very responsive and provided a reasonable resolution when some cabinets needed to be re ordered. The re-ordering of cabinets and getting back into their work schedule ate up some time.  The other time consuming aspect was getting all of the punch list items completed.
Many of the workers were very skilled and the quality of their work was great.  I found the painters to be lacking.  Many wall imperfections were not filled in.  When I pointed out nail holes that weren't filled in they readily filled them.  However, there are still holes that were missed. Also, the paint peeled off the wall with painters tape months after the walls had been painted.  Clarksville readily fixed it after I brought it to their attention.
As the home owner, you'll have to be very involved in the finer details and advocate for what you want when making and completing the punch list. This may be true for other companies as well but this was my experience with Clarksville. The punch list was created solely by things I mentioned which surprised me. The on site foreman was dismissive and defensive about some of the issues to be addressed however everything brought up ended up getting addressed.
Overall, I feel that Clarksville Construction Services is a great company built on great values.  Many of the staff were friendly, helpful, and highly skilled. With the award winning reputation, it felt that the company was growing faster than it could keep up with in regards to quality control.  As noted above, I would recommend Clarksville Construction to others with some reservations.

We had an absolutely outstanding experience working with United Cabinet Store's team-- I'm a little late submitting the review, but, definitely want to do a shout out for Alex and Dwain who helped us with our project.  We bought a house last fall and needed to revamp the kitchen.  My wife shopped around quite a bit since it was going to be quite an investment -- we found Alex excellent to work with on a number of fronts -- quality, pricing, selection, and, design support.
They turned around drawings pretty quickly and gave us several recommendations on the layout as well as various options that have made life a lot easier.  Once we placed the order, we still ended up making a couple of modifications that Alex was very accommodative on.
I need to post pictures, but we went with a Fino Bronze on the main cabinets and a Wenge/Chocolate for our Island.  When our contractor was installing the cabs, he stated on several occasions that they were absolutely the best quality he had installed in his 20 years of remodeling.  While we ended up with a bit of a snafu on delivery schedule, overall, our experience with Alex was absolutely 5 star, and, when I think about the quality of what we got, and the very 'designer' look, it was absolutely worth it.
When you are considering a sizeable investment such as a kitchen remodel -- do yourself a favor, don't focus on lowest price (unless you're just looking to flip a property) -- think about having to live with the kitchen for 20 years -- what will provide you with the durability, functionality, and, a looks that you will enjoy for that timeline.  We got all that and aggressive pricing to boot with United Cabinet Store.
    Thanks again for everything.
    Best Regards,
    - Kevin F.

The work was done only one week from the day that they came out to see the roof for the estimate.
Everything looks great, and I could tell that it was very detailed and fussy work. The new shingles match the old ones perfectly; they are woven into the old ones well, and the valley where the old and new roofs meet is covered with what I think is called a "weave" seam, which looks like a herringbone pattern: extra fancy. I can see at least one side of the roof repair from an upstairs window. They worked after sunset to get the job done in one day, using headlamps. Cleanup was great, with no nails in the driveway or debris flying around, even though they were finishing up in the dark. Since I had more rotten plywood in the area to be repaired than originally expected, and the work took more shingles, the actual cost was understandably $219 more than the original estimate, but again, that was completely understandable and within the range of other estimates from other contractors. They had to fetch more shingles twice. Their written business policies state that this can happen, and it's only fair. They did call to explain this before they mailed the invoice. We have had one heavy rain since the repair was completed, and I am happy that there were no drips from the metal wrap under my porch, for the first time in about 21 years.
I hope that this repair carries me through until the entire roof needs redone in another 10-15 years, and I would have this outfit do the work then.

I can't say enough about how pleased I was.  They were fast, on-time, accurate, and completely responsive to any concern we expressed. This is a high quality crew who are pleasant to work with, easy to communicate with, and do a great job, and also have a knack, as someone else commented, for seeing what looks good.  Kevin's recommendations  for what would be attractive were spot-on.  Would 100% recommend.  There may be folks who will work for cheaper but I can't imagine they would do as great a job, we were left feeling that the money was well spent.
