It went smoothly. Their salesman was friendly, not pushy, and professional. The door was ordered and it came within the expected time. The installers came at the agreed date and time. All went well and we are very satisfied by everything.

    American Home Center Inc
We recently were in need of a new door for our basement. American Home Center helped us select one which was reasonably priced that would let a good amount of light come into our basement, but it would still allow privacy. They called as soon as the door was in to schedule the delivery and installation. The installation team showed up early, were very professional, and had the door installed in no time at all. The door is beautiful! Our only regret is that we didn't order it sooner. We would highly recommend American Home Center (in fact, we already have to friends and family).

    Archangel Remodeling
After our projects last summer, we went back immediately and scheduled Archangel for another big undertaking. We remodeled THREE bathrooms at one time this go around! The old bathrooms were totally ripped out and they replaced everything. The master bath is particularly amazing with tile, custom glass shower, an undermount tub and gorgeous quartz countertops. I feel like I am in a grand hotel. The crew is the most polite group of individuals you would ever want to spend time with. They even made friends with our cat! I am thinking about the next project with Archangel already!

We updated our two sons' bathrooms at the same time. Andrew and crew carefully rotated the work so that neither son was inconvenienced for too long. They followed another contractor who had already started before we found Archangel. It went very smoothly. The bathrooms increased the value of our home.

My handyman did an amazing job.  He was experienced, personable, respectful, and arrived with all necessary tools, including a ladder. He arrived nearly an hour late, but he said it was due to traffic caused by an automobile accident.  He did call me about 15 minutes past his arrival time to let me know he was running late, which was nice.
Overall, I'm extremely pleased with my handyman's efforts and feel it was well worth the money. My only constructive feedback is that he forgot to remove the painter's tape around the trim of a closet he painted before leaving the house for the day (the paint was totally dry), and he left a bit of a mess on the closet's carpet. But if that's all I have to complain about, that's pretty good in my book. Overall, this was a really good experience.

Although the painter was very polite and very fast, his English was not
that good, but we managed.  Upon quick inspection, everything looked
great, but after he left, I found many spots where paint was spilled and
not cleaned up.  There is paint on my brick, my garage floor and on the
    cedar shake shingles.

The original Anderson windows were installed in 1985 and were starting to show condensation between the panes of glass. Getting 30 years out of these windows isn't bad. We decided to get three bids and used Angies List to select the bidders.  We met with the bidders at the beginning of December.  Tom Dawson of Chesapeake Thermal met with us to go over the job and sent us a bid on December 9th.  We selected Chesapeake Thermal of Davidsonville because of his price, the good Angies List reviews, and the fact that he lives a few miles away (we like to support local small businesses).   We signed the one-page contract and told Tom to order the windows.
The windows came in early February and work started on Feb 4.  The work required the removal of the outside cedar 5/4" x 4" trim before the windows could be removed.  I wanted to save the old windows for another project and they were able to save all but three.  Some of these windows were large and quite heavy.  The crew did a good job and were willing to work with me on the replacement trim.  John Dawson, Tom's brother, cut the trim and I stained it before he put it back up.  That saved me a lot of time on a ladder.  They also made an extra effort to save some interior trim in the sun room so I could reuse it to retrim two windows.  They finished the job in three days and worked in the bitter cold and wind.   Overall, they did a great job.

    Designing Renovations
The first time they came out the owner came out and fixed shelving and siding. I was please with the service so had the company come out to install a storm door and screening on a door.  When they came the second time the owner did not come out but sent other employees.  Though I was pleased with the storm door, it took way longer than I expected and seemed reasonable, and therefore cost a lot more than it should have.  Also, the screen installation was not done very well.

The service turned out well. I have nothing bad to say about them. They did exactly what they said they would. They cleaned up their mess which was very important to me and they did quality work which I appreciated.

We are very satisfied.  Everything is beautiful and the improvement in functionality and natural flow is even better than we dreamed.  We have had lots of family and friends visit in August and September, and everyone is just stunned that we have "a completely new house" after living here 26 years!  We expected to run into lots of unanticipated issues on this project and we did.  Our house was owner-built 44 years ago by someone who did not do things correctly.  I wish we could count the number of times over the years we have had a plumber, electrician, carpenter, etc., in to fix a problem and they would say something like: "I can't believe they did it this way."  in anticipation of this situation, we searched Angie's list for someone who seemed to have broad expertise, good communication skills, flexibility and who was fair in handling contract changes in addition to having high quality standards.  Jim seemed like a good choice based on reviews, and we had confidence in him from our first meeting.  He exceeded our expectations on every one of these selection criteria.  He is a perfectionist!  His team members all reflect Jim's values. Besides being very good, they are pleasant, and take time to answer your questions.  Joe, Wes and Mandy stand out, but all his team members were very good.  I would echo all the specific accolades from the other reports on JLGraves.  Jim handled all the hidden problems (like termite damage and missing beams) in a fair and professional way, giving us options and recommendations.  He loves to "turn a problem into a feature!"  He has excellent color and design sense, and helped us a lot in those areas. You may not believe it, but we quite easily lived in the house during the entire project!!  Jim moved our old refrigerator to the garage, and we had a microwave in the basement and grill outside.  We did laundry at a nearby friend's house.  Jim's guys cleaned up well each day, so it was not a hardship at all to carry on with life.  We're looking forward to phase 2, a smaller project in our basement that we're going to start soon.  In fact, I was going to wait to submit this report until after phase 2, but I've delayed it  based on some decisions I need to make.  So we're submitting this report now. We'll update it with photos as soon as we figure out how.
