I got an immediate response from Solar Energy (sorry I forgot the person's name) who passed my information on to Caitlin. Caitlin communicated with me almost daily working to get an accurate idea of what I needed and how many workers/hours it would take. I had sold my home and was working against a deadline to get this done as part of the home inspection corrections. They were able to get it done before my deadline and at a reasonable price.

Although it took longer to get through the bureaucratic hurdles (I did not have to handle any of them personally), I found the company to be professional and responsive. The have only been functioning a week, so I cannot comment on long-term service, but so far I am completely satisfied.

Excellent-Need to understand the process and they provide a detailed "Customer Journey" flow chart. Here are some highlights: Estimate in December-accepted and provided down payment. Design for 43 panels provided in early January. Work order to state for approval in February. While waiting for the approval, the technology for the solar panels improved energy efficiency by 10% and Solar Energy World upgraded to those panels at no cost. Then wait for state permits - conditional approval in early April followed by actual installation in early April. A week for inspectors to approve construction and electrical (mid-April). Then clock starts for BGE to receive completion notice, then install "net meter" that runs backwards and forwards....has been running backwards since installation in early May. After 3 months, BGE owes me for a megawatt of excess power that my system has returned to the energy grid. BGE pays for excess energy at the end of the year. The Solar Energy World staff is very responsive by email or phone and they provide a list of contacts for each action to include the cell phone number of the owner if you wish to contact him. We expect to recapitalize the purchase cost of our system in 7 to 10 years. If we move out of the house sooner, there are no issues transferring the system and current estimates on solar enabled homes indicate that we would comfortably exceed our solar system purchase price.

Installation occurred sometime in October.  The panel installers were great.  Got all panels up in the morning.  The electrical crew for the installation of the hook up were a traveling crew from CN.  They were very nice also.  They had to cut a hole in the dry wall, but someone came in the following 2 weeks to patch the wall.  (I still have to repaint it.)
The next step was to have a county inspector inspect the electrical.  Solar City didn't get that scheduled until the end of Dec.  We have to be home from 9am to 2pm for a county inspection.  It failed inspection.  I had to be home  for another person to correct the electrical installation.  He explained the CN crew doesn't know the MD codes.  A few weeks later I had to be home for another inspection.  It failed again.  I had to be home for another person to correct the electrical installation.  As of this review, the next inspection has not happened yet.
Meanwhile, during snow storm Jonas, the snow came of my solar panels in massive dumps of snow that sounded like thunder.  The snow stayed on the adjoining roofs.  When it came down in the from, it broke off my front light and took off a piece of my gutter guard.  It came off the back within seconds of my neighbor moving out of range of the fall.  Not much question in our minds that he would have been injured.
Dealing with Solar City customer service is a nightmare.  I asked them to put on something for snow mitigation and
reimburse me for the damage.  Still no resolution on either issue.
Since then, I had the same problem with snow/ice sliding from the panels with the recent ice storm.  Fortunately, no one was hurt and nothing was damaged this time.  I cannot recommend dealing with Solar City.

Kenergy installed our system several years ago and while we have not had any problems, we did have problems with a lack of communications and responsiveness. During the installation phase the team was somewhat uncoordinated and the installation took months longer than anticipated.  I recently contacted them because my monitor looked like it wasn?t working. I wasn?t sure if it was a monitor problem or a system problem. I never received a call back. Fortunately, the monitor started working again with a couple of hours and I have not had any other problems. However, I am concerned about what would happen if there was a real problem. I also called recently to see about having additional panels installed, again no responses as a result I have started contacting other installers.

Everything went as scheduled. We got estimates on leading and purchasing a home solar system and decided on Celestial. There prices were a little lower for a higher kW generation per panel then the other estimates. They are a smaller company but this appealed to us because we felt as if we'd get more attention. I believe we did. Jim has responded immediately to all emails and questions. They walked us through all the paperwork for the Credits as well. My wife's most recent reply to one of Jim's emails: "I'm so glad we purchased our system from you because you have given us one on one attention and nothing beats that. I hope your business explodes and word is spread about you like wildfire and more folks can experience the solar experience you have provided to us."

They are very professional and easy to work with.  They are responsive.  The sales associate that I work with was an engineer so he has a background on this type of projects.  They sent their site engineer out fairly quickly and he was very good to work with.  I have no complains; it's been generally good.  Their price is competitive.

Jay Randall, a rep, came to our house to talk to us after I called Solar Energy World. He was thorough, honest, and low pressure. He went over all the particulars of our roof that did not require an engineer (That is step 2.) It is amazing how much they can do with online street view and satellite view. He worked through the math to show us when the system would pay for itself. He answered all of our questions well. My wife worked as a phone rep for the local utility for years, and everything he told us meshed perfectly with her knowledge. We had done some online research as well, and everything lined up. The physics was correct too. We had talked to a rep from another company before we talked to Jay, and Jay told us some things that the other rep had omitted, especially about how much a tree would shade our roof. Jay's underlying electrical production assumptions appeared to be more realistic as well.
In the end, we decided that, because we are older, there was a pretty good chance of us not recouping our investment before we sell the house. We decided not to install the panels.
Based on their honesty, the fact that they did not skip any facts that might be opposed to our installing the panels, and their uniformly high ratings from customers, I would recommend Solar Energy World to anyone. An interesting note: they will provide you with an unedited list of customers, and you can call anyone you want to see how satisfied they are.

Solar Energy World made everything easy. They had everything installed in a couple of days and helped us submit all the paperwork for tax credits. The salesmen were knowledgeable and helped us to make the right choice in solar for our budget.

The experience was a good one.  I got 7 different estimates for our solar work and found Aurora to top all the others on price and on attention to my questions and concerns.  The salesman that we worked with had experience with the installation end of the company and so was able to address my questions about how things work without a run-around.  I also appreciated that Aurora took the time to get up on the roof and really assess my site before doing their estimate...many companies used old google earth images to estimate what they thought would fit and what would get shade - without ever being at my house or seeing the reality of my trees and roof the others wanted me to sign contracts for big money installations.
They went back and forth with us several times on design to try to maximize the use of roof space and still address my concerns about being too close to the gutters for snow fall.  They handled all the permits needed to put the system in and gave me estimates on what my system should produce.  They also taught me how to get the most out of my solar hot water system.
I not only did solar- I asked Aurora to coordinate with my roofer to do a simultaneous roof and solar installation.  The day of the start of the project the roofers arrived  at 7am with about 20 guys and started tear-off.  By 9am the roofers had enough done that Aurora was able to join them on the roof and start working right next to them.  We literally had roofers tearing off old shingles, fixing underlayment, and then the solar guys following after installing footers to bare plywood before the roofers returned to tar paper and
shingle.  Aurora put in three solar hot water units and then the roofers did the flashing around it.
At the end of the day the new roof was in place and all of the racking footers were in place and the shingling was done.  Because Aurora was able to work with the roofer they were able to work faster and more efficiently on the footer installation because they could visually see where the trusses were attached to the plywood while it was bare - but they didn't get in the way or slow down the roofers at all.  Working with the roofer also gave Aurora better access to low pitch attic areas (and with more light) as they were able to take advantage of the holes made by the repairs the roofers made as they replaced rotten boards.
Despite never working together with this roofer before, everyone worked together well and seemed happy with the partnership and work quality at the end of the day.  There were no accidents, injuries or mistakes made despite there being 25+ men on my roof at one time.  We actually found the roofer through a suggestion from one of the other solar companies that gave us an estimate and after the first day working together our roofer took the time to come and tell me that he thought that Aurora was a good choice and that he was impressed with their work.
Our three inspections (building, plumbing for solar hot water, and electric) went smoothly and the meter is now running backwards part of every day.  We feel good about the work, the price and the team we selected for this experience.  We highly recommend Aurora Energy to those looking to install residential solar panels.  Bring on the Sun!
