    The handyman we got was great, who we will use in the future. There was some confusion because we had told the person taking the order that we wanted the work performed on the same day as the handyman came out to do the estimate. The handyman said he was not told that and was not available, but he made himself available to do the work early the next morning, a Saturday. We thought that that was a very responsive solution, and that he went "above and beyond." He did an excellent job.

    I set up my in-home measure appointment online, and received a confirmation email introducing me to Erin, who was scheduled to come do the measuring on a Tuesday.  Erin was very professional and knowledgeable, and I was so impressed with her that I ended up increasing my order from one to four sets of blinds.  I chose the faux wood "Wood Essence" blinds, which are more affordable and are perfect for bathrooms (2 of the rooms where they were being hung).   I appreciated Erin's honesty when she was unsure of the exact way to measure one particularly tricky window, so she set up a second measuring with a colleague 2 days later on Thursday. She was apologetic, but I agreed that it was important that the measuring was done properly even if it delayed things a bit.  Donnell showed up promptly on Saturday, was extremely polite, and had the blinds hung in no time.  He made sure I knew how to properly raise and lower them, and took the old blinds with him when he left.  All in all, a very satisfactory experience.

    The Angie's List Deal was 8 hours of a painter for the day. Painter arrived 45 minutes late. Said his GPS did not give him the right directions. Once he started he taped the areas to be painted put down drop cloths and started to scrape and paint. Overall a good job. When he finished 1.5 hours ahead of time I asked him to do one more area which needed some attention. He proceeded to talk about all the traffic he had to deal with on his way back up to Baltimore. After a brief discussion he went back to work.

    Budget Blinds Of Silver Spring
    She told me all the mistakes the previous Budget Blinds people made - but said she couldn't pay to have the defective blinds replaced.  She ended up replacing some of them.  Again, the new franchise owner got the order wrong.  Then, she said the company got it wrong.  So, they came out to install them, requiring me to be home, and then couldn't do it when I noticed they weren't what I ordered.  When they finally got replacements, they're a little better than the original defective shades but they still hang funny.  Plus, they left all the holes they drilled for no reason on the window sashes - 4 on each window - after they removed the things they drilled in for no reason.

    Budget Blinds Of Silver Spring
    Terrible service, no follow-up - plus, ugly, fautly and overpriced blinds ordered and installed!  I've never written a bad review before (& it's taken me a while to get up the nerve).  I was promised my blinds in a reasonable time and they were months late.  Charlie, my salesman, seemed very nice - but then he never returned my messages or emails, just sort of disappeared.  It took long to get the manager to call back, too (and I wish, in retrospect, I'd stopped payment).  He told me multiple times that the blinds were in, albeit late, but they never did show up.  I think they were eventually installed months after the order, and they were installed in multiple visits (requiring us to keep taking off of work and waiting around).  And , depite a straightforward order and clear directions, they were wrong.  So, over the course of another few months, pieces were re-ordered and re-installed, and still they were broken or chipped or missing valances.  And it was always impossible to reach anyone for info.  After the last visit, last year, Scott said he'd replace the broken items by mail but he never did.  The salesman was full of advice and good cheer - but once I paid, it was a disaster.  To add insult to injury, what they sold me looks cheap and ugly, with long, impractical strings.

    Next Day Blinds - Fairfax
    I left a message on their system on the toll free number - it said they'd return my call in 24 hours but they didn't get back for 72 hours. I asked on the message for them to call me & let me know how much the fee would be for restringing & when they could come, & said if I was not available when they called, to leave this information on my voice-mail. They did call back & made an appointment with me for May 3rd, but didn?t show up because they sent the tech to the wrong address. A pleasant lady had called earlier in the day & asked if the tech could arrive early. She called back 45 minutes later asking exactly where they were supposed to be. The tech as it turns out was at another property of mine in a different county. For him to come back to my house was going to take at least an 1 to 1 1/2. They said couldn't do that.

    At about 3 that same day, I got a call from Doug who apologized profusely, but I told him I didn't have the time to deal with these issues & that I was going to work with a different company. I also called a call from Bennett Berger - same thing; he'd left a message saying how sorry they were & that they wanted to reschedule. But I at this point, because I've expressed dissatisfaction, I don't trust them in my house for fear of retaliation. When I was paying them they were great & my new best friends! Now that I have a warranty issue, I have problems with service & now I have to put out money for something I shouldn't have to.

They come when they say they are going to come. They do what they say they are going to do. You know how much it is going to cost beforehand.
