5 Tips to Get the Best Tree Service

Tree Service reviews in Chesapeake Beach

Small local company with Excellent service. Multiple trees around property needed to be trimmed - lower branches on pin oaks were dead and the trees looked shabby. Other trees had branches that were touching the house and roof. On the day of the work, Jeff, the owner took the time to discuss a possible change in game plan on several of the trees and instead of trimming, actually removed a tree. No pressure and no extra charge. It is fall and the yard was covered with leaves before Jeff and his partner arrived. They not only did the tree work, but they also cleared the lawn of leaves, a complete and unexpected surprise, and much appreciated. They definitely cleaned up after themselves and actually left the yard in much better shape than it was on their arrival. I feel that the price was very reasonable for all the work involved and would not hesitate to hire them again.

The amount of work, had it been done, would have been significant.

I called for an estimate, and the estimator came out when he said he would.  he was quite knowledgeable, professional and courteous.  He provided an estimate on the spot.  It was more than I wanted to spend, but as I mentioned above it would have been a significant amount of work.

I called the office to schedule the service, and accepted the estimate through email.  So far so good.

Service was scheduled for last Friday August 14th.  I was to be in the afternoon, the last job of the day.  At 5PM I called the office and left a voice mail as they were already closed.  One of the schedulers called me back fairly promptly and explained that she needed to reach out to the crew chief to find out what happened.  Stated she would call me back; which she did only to let me know that the crew chief could not be reached and she still didn't know what had happened.  She said she would try to get them out to complete the work Saturday, and if that was possible she would call me back, otherwise she would talk to me Monday (the 17th of Aug). On Saturday, one of the guys from the crew called me to ask if it was OK for them to do the work on Sunday.  I told them I wouldn't be home till the afternoon, but if they didn't need me there then that would be fine.  he told me he'd have the work complete before I got home from church at 1:00.

Arriving home, no work was attempted or completed.

Monday (Aug 17th) I called the office first thing.  They had no idea someone had called Saturday or promised to do the work Sunday.  They, again, "didn't know what happened" but assured me they could definitely get to me by Wednesday.  Somehow I am suspicious that this would happen on Wednesday either.

I decided to try another service, feeling that for $1500 I should get better customer service and the company should be able to either make it to do the work or have an idea what happened to. prevent it.  Even if they had phoned ahead of time instead of waiting for me to call I could possibly go ahead with them.

    Calvert County Tree Experts
It was a small job and the estimate I got from Calvert County Tree was their minimum charge. But was good and they even came back for a return visit at no extra charge when I said they didn't cut enough branches from the tree. Their prices tend to be a little higher than some other tree service companies in the area, based on quotes I've seen for other work but they are competitive and I would use them again.

Outstanding service.  Jeff really knows his trees and spent time making recommendations on the trees I should remove.  One tree had a 3 inch poison sumac vine going up about 40 feet, which I thought would scare him off, but he had a perfect plan for how to deal with it.  He had a great crew and the yard looked better after they cleaned up than before they began. The communication was excellent.  I would highly recommend these guys, they are pros.

I called up JT Tree Removal on 11 July 2013 and Jeff (the JT stands for Jeff Tenner) agreed to come over on same day and give me an estimate. Jeff  came over in the afternoon on the same day, looked at tree, and gave me an estimate . It was a good estimate so I asked him to remove the tree. We agreed that he would come over on 13 July 2013 in the afternoon. He showed up on the 13th as he said he would. Jeff and two other workers and equipment went to work. In about an hour they had cut up the entire tree and fed it to their chipper and cleaned up. They were quick and expert. Great job.

They were quick to respond and it took them less to 4 hours to remove the trees. I have used them in the past and I will continue to use them in the future. Near had a problem with them responding to me.

    W J Expert Tree Service
They did excellent work. They did a real good job. They were on time and were dependable. I would recommend them. I would definitely have them back again. It took them several days and when they were done each day, they would come and get me and ask if there was anything else I would like to have done. They kept checking to make sure that I was happy with their work and that it was satisfactory. If there was anything that needed to be changed, they would change it. They said they would show up at a certain time on a certain date and they did. They told me some things about the trees that I didn't expect. They cut down a gum tree. I had 5 other estimates and none of them ever called it a gum tree; they called it another type of tree. They knew the types of trees. There were a couple of trees that were real close to the house and they removed them without any problems. They were as comparable as any of the other tree services in price range. All of them came down to $3,900 and this guy started at $3,900. He did tell me to get other bids and that he would beat them. He wasn't like a used car salesman trying to sell me something. It is a small company with him and two other guys. They cut down 5 big trees.

    Karl A Bowen Tree Services
He's the best thing that we have ever found.  We've used him about 3 or 4 times.  He's really, really good.  Our neighbors have used him as well.  He's very inexpensive.  He's very, very careful.  He's very capable.  He's in high demand.  Two of our neighbors have used them with great success as well.  He's very competent.  He's the best value for the money.  We have 3 acres and there are all woods.  He didn't have to haul it away.  We do know that our across the street neighbor is very happy with him.  He managed to reduce their cost by taking some of the lumbar and giving it to a saw mill.  It was pretty impressive.  They were quite happy about that.  It's a very active word of mouth.  The one before this was about $1500, but it was to drop about 3 trees.  They came out and inspected the property.  We were worried about one and they looked at it and said we were right.  What we were impressed with was that we have a lot of trees.  They were cutting the last tree and they had all the ropes in the right direction and everything, but the tree decided to fall in the opposite direction.  It also took a few other trees down as well.  It wasn't near the house, but they promptly chopped those down for nothing so that they had cleared out the others.  I trust this guy totally and as completely as I do.  Overall, he's outstanding.  We took 3 bids and he bet everybody.  He's very careful and very precise.  He's quite responsive.  It was hard to get him sometimes.  It wasn't him.  He had a lot of people looking for him.  I can't say that I called him on a Monday and he was here on a Tuesday morning.  He was quick to answer my questions and solve any problems that I had.  He was here when he said he was going to be here.  He's very charming, but very capable and very serious about it.  I have recommended him and I will use him again in the future.

    Kelly's Tree Service and Landscaping
igned contract and gave 50% deposit on September 17, 2011. Was told then it might be 3 1/2 weeks before they could get to the work. Called several times and asked when work might be scheduled. Calls were not returned. Finally did get a return call and was told work would be done last week in October. Work crew did not show up that week. I called on Friday to cancel job, but was told it was on the schedule for Wednesday, November 2. Crew showed up on that day and did a very professional, careful job of cutting down the large maple tree. I told the onsite foreman that the contract also called for removal of the additional two pine trees. Crew returned on Thursday, November 3 to complete cutting and removing maple tree trunk. Foreman told me "boss said only maple was covered" to be removed. I showed foreman contract in Mr. Kelly's handwriting that called for removal of all three trees. I then called Mr. Kelly Thursday evening. He said the job was only the maple. I read him the contract language in his own handwriting. I checked my credit card that same evening and discovered I had already been charged for completion of the job although the split rail fence taken down before removal of the maple tree had not been reassembled and the two pine trees had not been cut and removed. I called my credit card company and put a stop on the payment. Did not hear back from Mr. Kelly, but the crew returned on Friday, November 4, reassembled the split rail fence and cut and removed the remaining two pine trees. I then removed the stop on the final payment. Bottom line is that the actual tree removal work was done very professionally, but customer relations were horrible. Final straw was my wheelbarrow had been used without asking me first and when I went to put it away the tire was off the rim and flat.

    Kelly's Tree Service and Landscaping

It was not a huge tree. They were local people. They were very pleasant to deal with. The association landscaper was triple that of Kellys so I called many landscapers and my neighbours recommended Kelly's Tree Service and Landscaping for removing small trees from their town houses. They did a great job. I would use them in the future.
