    Advanced Kitchen Concepts
    Very well. Advanced Kitchen Concepts recently came out to replace a toilet and upgrade a bathroom light sconce. They always arrive on time, get the jobs done on schedule and within the estimate. Dave Titus is an excellent craftsman and clearly enjoys what he does (nice person too). We called them back because Advanced Kitchen Concepts had done such a great job completely remodeling our kitchen and master bathroom (we have a 1968 ranch house). Dave had also shown me photos of some high-end kitchens that he had remodeled. For our older house, he had some great suggestions and even brought along tile and cabinet samples. Our kitchen looks great and it is compatible with the rest of our home. The kitchen is very modern, but it���s not like one is walking into a ���new house���. It transitions nicely into the dining room. Same with the bathroom. Dave has many contacts for appliances, lighting, etc. and was willing to share them with us (and I am not talking Home Depot or Lowes here).     Kelly was able to come over that day, even though it was late Saturday morning when I called him. He spotted the problem - or, rather, the combination of problems, since that's what it was - right away, and was able to fix the assorted problems quickly after a short trip to Sneade's (our excellent local hardware store) for parts. We were very pleased with his prompt response and with his work. We highly recommend him.

    Suction and clean went well, but either the tanker truck had a leak, or a leak occurred at the pipe connection. Either way, it left a 4 foot circular stain on my driveway, that three months of rain have not erased.

    The technician was right on time, introduced himself and got right to work.  I explained what has been going on over the last few days n that the toilet has not been flushing properly. 

    He used an auger tool to free up the stoppage.  The source of the clog was a pair of sunglasses that my 2yo must have flushed down the toilet.   

    Very friendly service and will use Roto Rooter in the future.

    I was on a tight budget and after contacting quite a few places, Thompston management had one of the more competitive prices.  But it was a struggle to even get that started.  I initially got a wrong estimate, had to get a 2nd estimate done.  I had to contact them multiple times to get a separate estimate for the storm doors.  Took quite a few messages and several WEEKS  to finally get through that.
    I had explained that I was in an unusual situation, that was quite stressful.  I had just moved, had significant plumbing issues, which is why I needed the new floors.  Black water on the carpet, so that had to be ripped out and replaced. 
    About 3 weeks go by, while I was getting the new flooring delivered etc.  And I get an email asking if I signed the contract, which I had not received.  So I stated I never got any contract, please resend... and if possible just shoot me an email when it is sent so I can be sure that I don't miss it.   I did give a payment of 1/3 of the total cost of the estimate I received.
    Finally the install date comes, approximately 4 weeks after my initial contact.  The worker shows up by himself, it was supposed to be a 2 person job.  And he showed up late, and he seemed flustered.  He started doing basic prep work by removing baseboards, (I removed the carpeting myself, to speed things up and save money), started to lay down vapor barrier, worked for all of an hour or 2 and he comes upstairs to tell me that he has to leave.  I of course wonder why, he says that Thompston management just fired him, and that he is sick of how they treat him and he has to leave right now to meet with a lawyer about it. 
    Imagine my frustration after months of hardship (prior to my contact with Thompston management), then 4 long weeks trying to get working with them, and now this!  I just needed this space finished.  I call to find out what on earth is going on, I am being told that he was never to be there at all, that they had fired him the day before.  That they didn't know he was showing up at all.  Which doesn't even make sense, because if he truly was fired the day before and was no longer coming then why did NO one contact me to tell me that things are not going to be installed on the agreed DATE.  They didn't send anyone else, or reschedule me, so I guess they were going to just leave me high and dry? 
    I was then told that someone else can come out, and they will have to come see the space and understand the job and basically everything is now delayed by another week or two.  Since this other person is already on another job they can't juts switch to my job right away.
    At which point I asked to just get my money back, so I can find someone else.  I was then given a hard time and an attitude about how contractually they don't have too, that they have spent time on my project (helping moving the flooring into the house which took 30 minutes and the actual time to work the estimate I guess)..... which technically there is NO contract because despite multiple times me saying I didn't get it and to let me know when it is sent she never did.  Eventually she was nice enough to give me like 90% of my money back.  Which leaves a bad taste in my mouth but I wanted to be done with it. 
    Also, as I stated earlier I had an unusual situation.  The other thing that really bothered me is I was upfront and honest about my situation from day 1.  I had to ask for special arrangements, like the job had to be done in multiple days, instead of just one day so that I could re-arrange spaces for them to work.  This was all known and agreed too, yet I got an email complaining to me about my situation and lecturing me about how I had to move things before work could be done.  Which I had already made clear I NEEDED to do and I needed them to give me the time to do it, hence I needed the work done in multiple days.  It was downright insulting, and rude.. and very insensitive, when this was something that I couldn't help... something that had been sprung upon me and I was dealing with it the best that I could.  (and again they knew all the details of how this situation happened, why I was in the situation.... everything so that they would be understanding.... or I had hoped they would be)
    My other HUGE complaint and the reason I decided to leave this review is that the worker that came and worked in my house for 1-2 hours..... that was fired... turns out he had a serious criminal record.  An entire page of charges of criminal history ranging from assault, to breaking and entering and now this guy knows my house inside and out by evaluating, and working in it.  I really don't want anyone else to take a chance with these guys because the workers they use are dangerous. At least that was my experience.  This was so unsettling to me, to know a criminal with that history was IN my house on multiple occasions (carrying flooring on one day then the day of install).

    Burch Oil Co Inc
    We have worked with alot of contractors in the last several years while completing upgrades to our fixer upper home. Burch has been the easiest and most responsive of any we have dealt with-  highly recommended.
    Our AC went out in June and had to have emergency weekend service to fix the AC- Burch did not do this repair. However they were one of the companies listed on BGE's website to use to receive BGE's rebates for a new HVAC systems. We had 2 other estimates in addition to Burch.
    The first company (who did the repair) gave a written estimate for a Trane unit adding additional line items for a copper coil, air duct cleaning and a 2 year service warranty. There was no discussion regarding options, SEAR etc. 
    When I called Burch Oil, I had 2 phone calls with Bobby P, both lasting 45- 1 hour. He explained SEAR and other ratings. He explained the features and benefits of both brands we were considering. He provided an excel spreadsheet to calculate energy savings and ROE for the units we were looking at. There was no line items for the above mentioned coil and the first 2 years of service are included. The time and effort he spend educating us about this major purchase was very much appreciated! Once we made our decision, there was a site  visit and scheduling of the install less just 9 days after writing the contract.
    The day of the install a crew of 3 showed up bright and early (7:30am). They were polite, professional, and made sure to cover floors and other areas they came in contact with. The install went smoothly and they were finishing up by 2:30 -3:00 pm.
    After the installers left, we started to notice water leaking from the new pump, we immediately called Burch and they said a tech would be dispatched. A tech called within a few minutes and stepped us thru correcting the issue (there was air in the line from the install). It did not require a service call, but we were pleased with the quick response.
    Great Sales and Service - I wish all our experiences were this positive.
