BMC Clower Heating & Air Conditioning Inc
Our A/C died in late May, and we wanted to get a new heat pump installed before the summer temperatures arrived. We got estimates from four different companies and settled on BMC/Clower because of a balance of price, quality and service contract. Two weeks after we selected them, our new Lennox heat pump was installed. It took about a day and a half and worked well from the start. Love the thermostat...certainly beats the Nest. They returned a couple of months later to install the heating interface. The installers were uniformly polite and neat the whole time.

    ClimateCare HVAC Services
The service representation, Steve, was unfailingly polite and efficient. He took me through the process with as much detail as this PoliSci major could understand. The proposal was detailed and well laid out. Excellent maintenance package. The only reason we did not go with this company is they proposed a Trane system, and we eventually decided to stay with a Lennox system from another highly regarded company.

    Burch Oil Co Inc
We have worked with alot of contractors in the last several years while completing upgrades to our fixer upper home. Burch has been the easiest and most responsive of any we have dealt with-  highly recommended.
Our AC went out in June and had to have emergency weekend service to fix the AC- Burch did not do this repair. However they were one of the companies listed on BGE's website to use to receive BGE's rebates for a new HVAC systems. We had 2 other estimates in addition to Burch.
The first company (who did the repair) gave a written estimate for a Trane unit adding additional line items for a copper coil, air duct cleaning and a 2 year service warranty. There was no discussion regarding options, SEAR etc.
When I called Burch Oil, I had 2 phone calls with Bobby P, both lasting 45- 1 hour. He explained SEAR and other ratings. He explained the features and benefits of both brands we were considering. He provided an excel spreadsheet to calculate energy savings and ROE for the units we were looking at. There was no line items for the above mentioned coil and the first 2 years of service are included. The time and effort he spend educating us about this major purchase was very much appreciated! Once we made our decision, there was a site  visit and scheduling of the install less just 9 days after writing the contract.
The day of the install a crew of 3 showed up bright and early (7:30am). They were polite, professional, and made sure to cover floors and other areas they came in contact with. The install went smoothly and they were finishing up by 2:30 -3:00 pm.
After the installers left, we started to notice water leaking from the new pump, we immediately called Burch and they said a tech would be dispatched. A tech called within a few minutes and stepped us thru correcting the issue (there was air in the line from the install). It did not require a service call, but we were pleased with the quick response.
Great Sales and Service - I wish all our experiences were this positive.

    Universal Mechanical Service, LLC
Calling and scheduling and appointment with Universal Mechanical Services was pretty fast!  JC was very responsive and walked us through everything we would need and the cost of the units.  The weekend he purchased the units also happened to be the weekend that MD offers tax free on large ticket items and he reflected that in the price (a $300 savings!!).
Our installation was scheduled the week of heavy snow and was thus rescheduled a few times, which is the only reason we rated punctuality a B.  The day of the appointment they were on time and got to work immediately.  They completed the work quickly (it was an all day job) and left everything extremely clean!  We had a blown breaker in the panel and they even fixed that for us before they left so we could use our heat!  It was freezing outside!
JC even explained how to sign up for the 10 year warranty through the manufacturer and walked us through how to work our new thermostat.
We loved them and would use them again in a heat beat and plan on using them for our yearly maintenance to make sure everything is in working order.
    We give them an A++

    Bob Fox Services
Things went well. The outside heat pump unit was making a lot of noise and staying on longer than usual. This went on for a couple of days. I finally got around to going out back and taking a look. The unit was covered, inside and out, with ice. I called Bob Fox. A tech came out quickly and troubleshooted the system. He determined that the defroster sensor was bad. They had to get the part. In a couple of days they got the part and the tech was back. He put in the new defroster sensor and tested out the system. It was working well again. It's now January 22 and the heat pump system is working great. Since I have a yearly service plan and the system was still under warranty (it was installed last winter), there was no cost.

    Jiffy Plumbing & Heating, Inc.
I called Jiffy when i noticed water backup in my basement after a heavy storm. I was asked when I would like a plumber to come, and when I said the next morning they gave me a time window between 8 and 11 the next morning. The plumber called around 10 AM apologizing that he might be late, but ended up arriving on time. He quickly diagnosed the water was the result of a condensation tube blockage ANC quickly snaked it out. I asked him about installing a whole home water filtration system (we had just moved into our home) and he looked at our current system and informed me ours already was one of the best on the market and working well. He also looked at a couple of other problem in the house (whistling shower and a condensation tube blocking the air filter slot) and is planning to come back next week to get it done...he apologized for not having the parts to fix if right them, but was team lead that day and did not have the fully equipped vehicle. Overall, Jiffy gets an A.

    Bob Fox Services
It went well. They replaced the outside fan/exchange unit and most (if not all) of the inside heat pump and mechanics. The only thing not obviously replaced was the duct work inside the house. The workmanship was first rate. For example, the lines from the outside unit into the house structure were sealed off better and better looking than the original H/AC installed in the house.  It was very satisfying and confidence building just to look at the finished work.
