Excellent. Hard working, reliable, trustworthy grass cutting service. If you need your lawn mowed, bushes trimmed, or fertilizer applied, this is the place to call. They show up when they say they're going to or phone if the weather will prevent them from getting there. We have been using Susan and her firm for fifteen years and would recommend them to anyone.

I hired John to mow our lawn over the summer. My husband is in the military and is gone often so I needed some help. John was quick, efficient, and thorough. He wouldn't cut corners and always did a wonderful job.

When they did the edges, I didn’t want them to put the bricks there. I wanted them to put a trench to separate where the grass started and the flower bed. I asked them to do it because I wanted it to look more professional and not like something crazy I did that wasn’t straight. It looks very crooked like something I would have done. The front they did well. I told him and he came back out and let him off the hook. He acknowledgeable that he could have done a better job. They didn’t’ put the extensions on the down spout far enough. So now I need to re-dig and make them lower or add more top soil above. They didn’t do a professional job as I would have liked. They were supposed to spray and a couple of days later I noticed that none of the vegetation was dying. I called back and they acknowledge it and came back out. They were responsive.    I tried to use them again but they were not responsive.

Everything went well, my lawn has improved quite a bit.  It looks very nice.  The one thing I did not like is that every single time they came here, the technician would find some type of weed or grass that was not included in the original weed control treatments.  If I wanted the extra treatment it was an additional cost.  I don't think this is fair, weed control is weed control in my book, that is what I thought I paid for.  They should haven been up front about this type of thing in the beginning, after all their specialist was the one who inspected my yard at the very beginning of the contract.

I am very, very pleased with the final outcome of this job.  When I met with the owner, John Himchak, back in April and explained to him the work I wanted done, he  had expressed to me that he wanted to make me a happy, satisfied customer and when it was all said and done, he did just that. The job started in May with JHI pouring a concrete foundation for the garden wall, and as needed  for the porch and sidewalk before laying any bricks.  A gray colored mortar was incorrectly used and the job stopped briefly in order that the correct color mortar could be obtained.  I was responsible for selecting this correct mortar and what I chose did not match or complement the mortar used on my brickfront home.  Besides being unhappy with my color selection, I didn't like the way the mortar had been applied, it seemed sloppy and rushed.  I expressed this dissatisfaction with John and he came to the site and made sure the mortar application issue was corrected to my satisfaction.  After the mortar settled, JHI came back and acid washed the brick.  Soon after that, the mortar started to display fine hairline cracks. At this point I am unhappy with the look of my steps and walkway because it didn't look new and polished and greater than that, I had selected the wrong mortar color.  John may have sensed my discontent when he came out to look over the job because he told me that he would re-do the mortar using the correct color (by this time I knew which color I should have selected). In August, JHI returned and they removed the existing mortar and applied the correct color mortar (buff).  The mortar work was done perfectly and now the porch, steps, walkway, and wall are beautiful.
John Himchak of JHI Contracting kept to his word and worked hard to make sure I was satisfied.  Not only that, he takes pride in his work and he made sure that the job was finished in a way that he could be proud of. Although the cost was a little expensive,   JHI Contracting performed quality work and backed it with a longterm warranty (25 years).

I contacted Wentworth Nusery last year, indicating that I was interested in: having my front concrete steps and walkway redone with brick pavers, building a garden wall around my flower bed, removing existing plants and installing new ones, and correcting a drainage problem I had in the front yard. I met with landscape designer Rick McKenney in August of 2012. He was very polite and professional and did as he said, after looking at my property and understanding what I wanted, he provided a proposal for hardscape and landscape work. In February of 2013 I contacted Rick and informed him that I wanted to hire Wentworth Nursery for the job. We talked several times and he said he would change the proposal based on my questions and comments. On March 15, 2013, I received a revised proposal but it still didn't address some specifics we had talked about (i.e., the work would be done using mortar but the proposal stated sand; the width of the walkway was changed to 5 feet but based on our conversation the price wouldn't change, however, the revised proposal showed a cost increase; the contract didn't indicate that it included the fix for the drainage problem). I spoke with Rick about these issues and he told me that he would make the changes and submit the proposal again. I never received the revised information. At some point I contacted Rick to check the status and he explained that Wentworth Nursery was having problems with their email and or computer system. Whatever the case may be, he never got the information to me and never followed up in any way.

In the past, I have had a lot of people / contractors perform up-grades and fixs to my home, none of whom I would use again! Then I met Jim Brown of Brown's Custom Contracting LLC. He was very personable and most of all extremely professional! He showed up perpared,on time each and every day and at the end of each day he cleaned up after himself.he even did a few little touch-ups on his own without charge or being ask! Family and friends that were in for the holidays all loved the way the home and yard looked! For the first time I feel and believe that I got more than my hard earned monies worth!!! "Brown's Custom Contracting LLC" is now # 12 on my speed dial for all of my future home repairs or up-dates!!!!!I can't wait for my next home project!!
