    SL LANDSCAPING & TREE SERVICE
The SL team worked diligently from morning to nearly dusk to complete the extensive job in one day. They were attentive to detail, very knowledgeable and professional. Work and clean up was done as promised for a very reasonable price.

Lawn was cut. Paid cash, but received no receipt. Was credited for some payments, but not for others. Was later blind sided and contacted by phone from a verbally abusive collection company in New York who sent no mail correspondence, but demanded I give them my debit card number threatening me that if I didn't give them my card number that day that I would be sued.

I was please with their service, the trees look good after they trimmed them...  they picked up most of the branches and had them mulched with their machine...  only wish they cleaned my windows that the machine cause lots of dust that settled on my window sill outside...  but i cleaned them fine...
This was part of the deal i bought on this site...  thanks!

    H W Brown Tree Experts
Initially when I called for the bid (and I called several tree experts for bids), they were slow to respond, taking 2 weeks, but I learned there were extenuating circumstances that led to the delayed reply which I totally understood. The timing also worked out fine on my end. HW Brown Tree Experts were my last bid (of 4 bids) and the best one, price-wise as well. Wayne, the owner came to look at the work and gave the bid. He was thoughtful and professional and I appreciated his candor.
We scheduled the work with tentative dates, but knew it was weather permitting. And as it would be, we had bitter cold, then rain come through, so it got pushed back one week. Wayne followed up with me yesterday and let me know he and crew could come today @ 10:30am. That was perfect for me. At 10:20am today, the crew arrived and started to set up. Wayne and crew, totaling 5 people worked solid from 10:30am to almost 1pm and got the jobs completed.
I watched the whole process and was very impressed. The climber and the team were thoughtful about the process keeping safety as number one, of course for the climber included. Everything was roped well. Much of the work had to be taken down in small pieces to avoid hitting the nearby shed while taking down the dead tree and the roofs of the two very close houses beside the big elm tree. The group, I could tell had worked together a lot because they had it all down to a science, helping each other out and with simple commands moving as a team. I asked them how long they'd been working together and Wayne explained that he's known some of those guys for almost 30 years.
They were also very friendly and easy to work with. They took down 2 sections of my old fence to fall the dead tree and placed it back up just as they found it. They cut the dead tree stump low to the ground for me. They offered to take the wood away, but since my neighbor can use it, I opted for it to stay. They asked me to what size I'd like it cut and they piled and cut up the wood in fireplace lengths perfectly for my neighbor to use. They chipped all the smaller limbs and brush. They even raked the lawn clean of debris before the they called the job done. I was very pleased and would call them again.

    Romeo's Tree Service Inc
Poorly unfortunately. I was set to purchase their "Big Deal" on Angie's List for tree service, $299 for $600 of tree work. It sounded great and I had 2 medium/decent size jobs that I was interested in getting done. This seemed a nice way to learn if I like the company/crew and then hire them for the second job as well, should all have gone well.
Their responsiveness and professionalism were poor, though I often give responsiveness a pass as sometimes things get dropped accidentally in the midst of other things in life. I called and left a message last week. A secretary called back the same day to say that Romeo would call me within 24 hours to schedule the estimate. 3 days later, no call, so I called again and left a message. The following day, Romeo called me back and we scheduled an appointment for the next day, between 8-9am. I told him I was interested in purchasing the Angie's List Big Deal that they were promoting. The next day I waited. No show, no call. I called him at 11am, to which he replied that he lost my phone number but could come in 5 min. He did come shortly, about 10 min later.
The price was excessive compared to the 3 other quotes I had received (also from licensed/insured tree service companies). I showed him the work (the first thing I was looking to do anyway), which was to fall a medium-large size (already dead) tree into my backyard. The tree was at the fence line and next to my neighbors small shed. My neighbors are gracious and freely opened their yard to the needed work. My neighbors also were willing/wanting to keep the wood, so no need to haul any brush or logs; he could leave everything in my and/or my neighbor's back yard. All bidders said they would need to rope it down slowly in sections due to the nearness of the shed. The fence is mine and already falling down, so there was no worry there. I told him I'd remove it to get it out of his way prior to doing the job. No stump removal, no stump grinding included. The other 3 quotes I'd received varied little, all about $400 (least expensive, $375, most expensive $450). Romeo said I could use the Angie's List Big Deal, but that the job would cost $900, thus $600 after the Big Deal. This was of course a shock and a disappointment (and a waste of my morning waiting for him). I asked him why and he couldn't describe anything that was unique about his company or plan for taking the tree down compared to the other companies. I honestly felt like he purposely increased the estimated quote so that once the Angie's List discount was applied he'd make his otherwise original price. Disappointing and I wanted to write this for anyone else who may be thinking of blindly purchasing a large Deal from these guys without getting your estimate first. Hope the info was helpful.

    Milton's Tree Care MD
Excellent, he is the first contractor that did not take a down payment.  He didnt take any money until I was satisfied with his services.  Once the stompts were removed from the ground, they filled the hole with topsoil.  They also did it in a very timely manner.

    First Impression Hardscapes
I submitted a request for an estimate via the provider's website on April 4, 2014 and never heard back. On April 12th, I contacted First Impressions via Angie's List to ask if they were still providing estimates. They responded on April 14th and said they had emailed us (specifically my wife) and we had never responded, which is untrue (if they emailed us, they must have misspelled the address, because we both checked our junk folders). I wrote back and again provided the email address and phone number. My wife attempted to follow up a few times but we never heard back from First Impressions to schedule an estimate. We went with another company instead. It's very frustrating to feel like I'm bending over backwards trying to give my money to a company that doesn't really care. If First Impressions was too busy to give us an estimate, or did not want to work for us for some other reason, they should have said so upfront.

    Greentree
The arborist arrived and we discussed what needed to be done and I got a price quote.  I had purchased a deal but the actual work was going to take more time which I agreed to.  The 4 man crew arrived a week later and went to work.  They did far more than I had anticipated, but explained it all to me (since I was working at home that day) as they went along.  There was a large branch that had been damaged in one of last year's storms.  I hadn't noticed the damage but saw it was entwtined with some electrical wires.  They expertly took it out without harming the wires or themselves. I was sad to see so many branches of the beautiful spring blossoming tree removed but knew it was necessary. They assured me it wouldn't die and of course time will tell.   I was very satisfied with their professionalism and how thorough they were.  I think they took more time than had been originally anticipated but they didn't charge me more.  They didn't bill me until all the work had been completed.

Eagle & Extra Hands Lawn Care & Other Services LLC
I want to start out by saying these are very nice men (they were all men) and once they knew I had purchased the deal (after some prodding by Angie's List) they were very responsive over the phone.  The deal stated that I was purchasing 8 hours of yardwork (2 men for a total of 4 hours).  It turned out that one man actually did the work with one supervising (sort of).  I work at home which is a good thing because these guys, nice as they are, seem to know nothing about gardens and plants.  2 of them never seemed to have heard of Hostas.  I pointed out some of my special plants and ground cover and they mulched right over some of that.  I later rescued some.  I asked him to ask questions if he wasn't sure something  was a plant or a weed  No questions.  They said they would pull the weeds before mulching.  That never happened which is kind of a good thing.  I had weeded heavily in early Nov so some of the weeds had grown back.  They mulched right over the weeds and as I said, some of the plants.  They used far more mulch than I have ever used in the past.  I paid for the mulch but they did give me their deal for that.   Still some plants were only lightly mulched and others heavily.  They did get some areas I had failed to point out and missed others, but came back 2 days later and fixed areas under my supervision.  As I said, they are very nice people.  But they don't really seem to know this business.  I guess I've been spoiled by providers I've used in the past.

    Eds Tree Service Inc
Ed's Tree Service initially was a problem to communication with. After reporting to Angie's List (comment below) of the problem with communication. I received a call the next day in the late evening. They came out yesterday and from my wife's observation. They did a great job. They did leave the mulch from 2 tree's instead of 1 tree like I asked, but I am sure I can get it sorted out with them. I have a garden to do anyway. The actual work was a good job.
Outside of the communication problems, it was a great experience. I would hire again. I am sure that communications will be a little better. FYI. Call them on the phone, they are not responsive to email and don't really email.

    Initial Angie's List Complaint
    =======================
Contacted the company via email and phone before the Christmas holiday to get a quote to cut down 2 tree's and prune a 3rd tree. Company came out on the Friday that we agreed to have the estimate done. Price seemed reasonable but pricing for first tree was $400 higher than all 3 other quotes.
Wanted to hire this company and repeatedly called to get on the schedule. Company seems to be ignoring their phones and not responding to customers.
Wesite is also showing a Malware warning in Google Chrome that doesn't allow me to go to the website when clicking the link from Angie's list since the website says it could expose my computer to a virus/malware.
This company has all "A" reviews. I can't understand why they are so unresponsive and a customer "WANTED" to hire them. It doesn't make any sense to me and I'm a pretty patient and reasonable person.
Good lord...respond to customer emails and phone calls....
