    Matthews Construction & Design LLC
Purchased a 105 year-old brick house in Maryland on the edge of DC and did a whole-house renovation. After interviewing several contractors, I selected Matthews Construction and Design because of the wealth of knowledge Brian Matthews exhibited on all aspects of construction, his can-do approach to everything on my wish list, promptness of his quote, and reasonableness of the estimated cost. As the work progressed, I found that Brian has an excellent sense of aesthetics in terms of architectural options, as well as balance and proportion. I especially liked the trim options he suggested, including capitals over doorways and windows, panels under windows, wainscoting, and ceiling medallions. He also knows how to get things done and stay on schedule a rarity in the construction industry. When I decided to expand the scope of the renovation, Brian had lots of useful ideas. While offering suggestions, he was always sensitive to what I wanted and I never felt like he persisted in pushing in a direction I didnt want to go. He was able to give quick and accurate cost estimates of any changes I wanted to make along the way, and was able to provide outstanding craftsmen on short notice to keep the project on schedule. He visited the site often to observe work in progress, give instructions to workers for next steps, and address the many challenges that inevitably arise during renovation. Throughout the project, he called me often at the end of the day to find out if I was satisfied with the work being done. He answered my questions and promptly addressed any concerns I raised. The quality of the renovation work is impressive. Now that it's done, I love the renovated house, and so do my family and friends. This renovation project was thoroughly enjoyable, thanks to the competent work and excellent customer service of Matthews. I would definitely use Matthews again and I highly recommend the company to others.

Euro Spaces Kitchen & Bath Design Center
Mariana knows how to put tile in context. There are so many beautiful showrooms I had visited in the DC metro area and I had taken so many samples home and gotten so many ideas, but nothing was working with what Iinherited from the builders who "flipped" my house. What my eyes were drawn to in the store really clashed with my granite, or my cabinets, or just were like,
too trendy. So. I had stumbled into Marianas shop having seen lots of walls. After lots of research where tile comes from, and finally, after countless Google image searches, I had finally identified my granite. She knew my granite, which made me say,
yup, this lady knows her stuff. The first tile she showed me I said I hate. Too busy. Well, she said try it. She gave me a few other ideas to try, and talked to me about paint colors, knobs and yes, schluter and grout color choices. but in the end, it was the mosaic dikla pattern I chose (glass, wood and stone 1x1). While not the biggest showroom in town, and you most likely can get
better prices online, dont miss this little shop just getting its feet wet. Mariana is a top-notch designer who knows what is quality, and what will translate well, from idea to install. She has gone the extra mile with my project to give me that personal touch that I am not just another homeowner buying sheets of 12x12 to slap on a wall (some big box tile specialty shops) gave me attitude and others made me feel that since I didnt look like a Potomac house wife, they werent giving me the time of day. I am confident that
Mariana can help you get that WOW factor. Seriously, check this place out. You wont be disappointed! You might
even get an idea, and a good deal from this small woman owned business, from a senior designer with great reputation (my tile installer and electrician, small world, even know her work), she has great connections and will help you from small to really big, and I think if you are well endowed Potomac housewife, she wont treat you any differently (basically, she knows people are on a budget
and will work with you to get you that upgrade you will LOVE) to show off to your neighbors.
