    TotalProtect Home Warranty
I purchased a new home warranty for my new home in May 2019. I called in a service request / claim on my HVAC unit at the beginning of July 2019. When the service tech came out he informed me that I was going to need a new compressor and in his opinion a whole new system. He was very confident that Total Protect would approve my claim and not only gave me instructions on how to prepare my home for when he would return to put in the new unit but also only took half of my deductible and said he would get the rest when he came back to install the new unit. A few days later I received an email saying my claim was denied due to pre-existing condition. I immediately challenged the accusation letting them know that it was not a pre-existing condition and that my AC was in working condition since I had moved into the home in April up until I called in the claim. A few days later I received a call from a claims rep and she informed me that the timeframe between my contract activation date and the date I called the claim in raised eyebrows and was questionable. And I informed her that her and whoever elses opinion did not matter in this instance and what facts or proof were they basing this decision off of? I was a new customer and I didnt have control over when something was going to break down or tear up in my home and if anything I was glad that my policy kicked in in the nick of time but instead I was getting denied based on their opinions and nothing more! She didnt have any proof and instead blamed the service tech saying that his report said it was a pre-existing condition and that was also another reason why it was denied. Her reasoning didnt sit well with me so a few days later I called back and explained the situation to another customer service rep and told him that I thought she was full of it and he was on my side! He told me to reach out to the service tech company and get a copy of the service report he submitted to them so I could see his remarks for myself and low and behold the service provider company report DID NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT A PRE-EXSITING CONDITION! In fact it simply said I arrived on job site and found compressor tripping the breaker. I recommend replacing the outdoor unit. I KNEW TOTAL PROTECT HAD LIED! So now that I had the actual service report I immediately called Total Protect to once again fight the denial. This time I was told that YES, according to my contract (PROVIDED BY TOTAL PROTECT) and my declaration page I DID QUALIFY FOR MY UNIT TO BE REPLACE but(ready for this excuse) MY UNIT WAS 11 YEARS OLD SO ITS TOO OLD, ITS BEEN TEARING UP OVER TIME! WHAT?! That doesnt even make since! I informed them that that was the dumbest thing I had ever heard number one, two, the whole point of getting a warranty is to protect you appliances/ units no matter how old they are! And three, if thats the case why wasnt I initially asked how old everything in my home was or why didnt a Total Protect rep come out to the home and get the ages of everything and make sure everything was working (mind you I just purchased the home in April 2019) before I was given or approved for a warranty? Then I gave it one last try maybe a week later to get my denial overturned and again another rep agreed with me and said again that yes I did qualify but claims told her that basically they didnt like the fact that I called in so close to my activation date. They took me through so many lies for nothing! I immediately cancelled my contract! And lets not forget about my monthly installment issues. When I signed up with Total Protect I made it very clear that I wanted a monthly payment plan. When it was time for me to pay my first bill it was way over the amount they had quoted me. Turns out they had me down for quarterly or 3 times a year (I cant remember exactly but it was one of the two) payments! I called them and told them to change it and they claimed they did when I went online to make my payment it snatched the whole thing! I was ****** and called them back again and they cancelled it and I made my monthly payment amount over the phone with them. Then a few days later they took another payment without my consent! So basically 2 payments for the same month! Called them again and they refunded that payment but was informed by the rep that I still was set up for the quarterly or 3 times a year payments! WTH!!! She or HE claimed they fixed it and I was squared away. The UNORGANIZATION and LIES of this company are truly unmatched and I will continue to spread the word that TOTAL PROTECT IS THE WORSE COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!

Technician (AllWays There) was late but work was excellent. Corrected problem quickly, professionally, and courteously. Only problem is that we were not given a detailed invoice, as of yet. Receipt given only details amount spent and not what or who by.

Excellent! Although the contractor was extremely late, he still came and did the work. He was flexible by fitting our job into his schedule a day earlier than planned. Lets not forget the service fee price, phenomenal! Choice Warranty for the win!

I was impressed by how quickly my service call was scheduled and a technician assigned for same day service. It was an an extremely cold day and I was happy to see the technician less than 2 hours after I submitted the service claim. The technician was courteous and quickly resolved the issue.

Claim was submitted and I received an email from Choice Warranty instructing me to contact the repair company.  When I contacted the repair company, they could not find the ticket.  The repair company then put me on hold for about 20 minutes.  When they came back to the phone, they had not looked for the ticket.  While I held the phone they found the ticket and scheduled a site visit for four days later.  Good thing it did not rain in the interim period or I might have had to replace the entire pump which we were told to unplug until someone looked at it.  If it rained we were to plug it in for a short period and then unplug it and replug if necessary.

Meanwhile on the day of the scheduled repair the company showed up on time and adjusted the float bracket so the pump would cut on and off automatically as it is supposed to work.  I had to show the invoice billing me for the pump that was installed in December 2014 by the same company in order to have the float bracket adjusted at no cost since it was not installed properly in December.  I was a little put off by having to show the invoice for installation in order to get the repair done at no cost other than the service fee.

Our air conditioner went out on 6/9. Called AHS for service and asked to be scheduled first as we still needed to get to work.  Was told we were the technician's second stop and he should arrive between 8-12.  Needless to say that time came and went, so we called to reschedule, but he showed up later when no one was home.  First sign of lack of communication between, AHS, vendor dispatch and technicians.  Rescheduled for Tuesday between 2-6pm, no one showed up or called to say were not coming.  Second sign.   A tech was scheduled and showed up on Wednesday, said he would be back on Thursday.  When we called Thursday morning to schedule the time, we were told by the vendor that the tech misspoke and nothing was being scheduled as everyone was working on a big installation.  Third and final sign.  Rescheduled for Friday and again no show and no call.  As of today, we are waiting on another company dispatched by AHS to come out and fix an service request that has been opened for 16 days.  Hopefully it will be fixed by end of business today...
Here is my issue with AHS as confirmed to me by their CSR's.  Once a vendor as accepted the service request, the vendor handles all scheduling. There is no emergency escalation policy for a vendor to respond in less than 24hrs.  Nor does it appear that they have an SLA in place with their vendors.  It's when ever they can fit you in.  AHS completely removes themself from the situation.  I was told that if I called a vendor myself, it would be at cost to me.    There is no follow-up to see if the issue has been resolved, or if there were any other problems or delays.  The next time you hear from them is in the form of an email when the job is complete.  I would call to complain and all I would get is an apology, placed on hold, and lip service about them calling the vendor.  I asked to speak with a manager several times and no one called me back ONCE.  Their customer service is P*** POOR and unprofessional.  It appears the vendors are just following their lead.
My advice is stay away and steer clear of AHS.

Their coverage is extensive. Their customer service is awesome. You can process claims online or over the phone. You never have to wait a long time on the phone to speak with a live representative. Their representatives are extremely knowledgeable and make the process easy. They never throw up road blocks against any claim. They assign you vendors for the repair, and if you do not like the particular vendor then you can ask to be reassigned. They have a buyout program if they cannot make the repair.

I was expecting a replacement of the opener rather than a repair. But was told it was a repair that was recommended by the technician. Otherwise, it went well.
