    KingCaire Construction
Billy Mulcaire is fantastic! The workmanship is top notch and beautiful, the professionalism is excellent (always on time or early, always does what he says), but I got so much value from his extensive experience. That turned out to be the best part. He knows this stuff inside and out. He's quick and efficient, and he's always seeing the big picture and 10 steps ahead. He can look at a plan and immediately see the flaws (like fitting appliances through a 28" laundry room doorway). Saves time and money. He knows how to put value in a design (like the new window that totally transformed the apartment space, or leaving the brick exposed in the powder room). I also had complete trust that my house was in good hands, meaning I didn't have to sweat the day-to-day stuff. If he's doing the job, he's 100% responsible and thinking of every detail. Billy also runs a clean job site. He's respectful and friendly and so are his guys. They were easy to have around. Everything came out great! Really, really nice. The craftsmanship is obvious, particularly where the old had to blend with the new. Or when salvaged materials were retrofitted. I would hire Kingcaire again for the quality of work alone. The expertise and professionalism are the icing on top.

    Sino-American General Contracting
This was the largest home improvement project we've undergone so we were initially cautious when hiring a contractor. However, the organized and structured approach to the project helped put us to ease. Mason, the owner of Sino-American contractors, is very knowledgeable of local building codes and best practices. Communication is one of his strengths and collectively he spent several hours discussing the details of the project including potential risks and pitfalls. Mason has the same crew that he uses on all projects and the quality of the work and attention to detail was evident. Mason would visit the site frequently to oversee work and ensure everything was on schedule and completed to our satisfaction. He would text or call frequently to provide an update of the work or to notify us whenever workers would be on site. My wife gave birth to our son during construction and Mason did his best to have his crew work around our unpredictable schedule. This included working late or night or on weekends if needed. Mason's quote was competitive with other ones we received. With other home improvement projects we've always done fixed contract so his approach of individually pricing out each task took some getting used to. However, he was always upfront about additional costs that might arise due to new findings during construction or required by building inspectors. This just made it a little more challenging to allocate a fixed budget for the entire project. Mason and his crew also had some good suggestions that we didn't consider including adding an exterior flood light in the driveway and running new cable lines through the walls to minimize drilling though the interior brick walls. He supplied finished hardwood floor that matched our current floor and provided quotes for the doors and windows even though we decided to get these from another supplier. Overall we were very satisfied with the entire process and would recommend Sino-American Contracting for anyone considering a renovation/remodel.

    G Temple Construction
Very professional job laying down tile on an old bathroom floor. Set in New posts and repaired my backyard fence and replaced old sections that needed repair. It still looks great and never had any problems these last two years. He also built custom flower boxes under my bedroom Windows. Looks great.

    Remodel USA
We are very satisfied with the completed project. The workers were skilled and easy to communicate with, and patient with changes and delays caused by us as the project developed. It was necessary to raise the floor level of the porch a couple of inches to match the indoor floor level, and to adjust for the slight slope in the porch floor. That was done expertly and the finished hardwood floor is perfect in both areas. The sunroom is great and much more functional than a screened porch in Washingtons climate. The insulated glass does an excellent job of keeping both hot and cold out. The original ceiling was kept (our preference), and they added insulation above it. On the down side, better and more complete drawings of the kitchen plan would have been helpful to avoid some minor misunderstandings, delay, and changes. Remodel USA does not have a showroom, and it took some time to receive cabinet samples. We were left on our own to find a place to see the cabinet hardware from the catalog that we were asked to choose from. The tile distributor they work with (Sita Tile) has a good showroom and selection. Some of the drywall finishing was less than satisfactory and painting is specifically excluded in the standard contract, but these were both easy enough to take care of afterward. Flexible ducting rather than the recommended rigid pipe was used to connect the exhaust fan to the original exhaust location, even after mentioning this when seeing the flexible duct package on the floor. I can't give a rating for punctuality, because we had the luxury of not needing the work to be completed quickly. The project was a bit delayed in starting, but then once started it went well, not counting some delays that were caused by us while we made final material choices.

    American Deck & Patio
We love the new deck and would recommend Sean Conway's company to our friends, as well as rehire them if we wanted any additional deck construction.  That is the bottom line.  We also caution that whenever any homeowner undertakes a project involving construction, that they stay in town and pay attention to the task in progress.  Communication is required to avoiding misunderstandings so that the resultant job meets the homeowners' expectations.  That is to say, there were some hiccups along the way, but nothing that could not be resolved amicably and quickly with the result that we are really happy with the final product. The Zuri decking looks like real wood and seems very tough.  For 20 years we loved our cedar deck,  but so did the carpenter bees, and the yearly cleaning and maintenance was punishing.  Zuni is a new product and lacks a full line of trim pieces, fascia boarding, etc.  Gus, the lead carpenter, is both highly experienced and skilled. Gus checked with us multiple times when he needed to improvise to achieve the desired effect.  We look forward to the lower maintenance deck and railing with the Zuri product, anticipating routinely hose washing to remove pollen and leaves to avoid mildew.  American Deck and Patio has a five year warranty, another positive aspect of dealing with this company.

    Kitchen & Bath Depot
Don't let the name Kitchen and Bath Depot limit you from considering this company for any job in your home. We did a major renovation of our home that ultimately resulted in a new home with all new spaces on the interior and exterior. Ron, Mark and the guys from Kitchen and Bath were exceptional. At no time in the project did we have any problems or anxiety about the job. They completed the renovation ahead of schedule and never asked for any more money above our agreed upon price. We lived in the home for the entire 5 month period and the team was clean and respectful of our space at all times. After pricing out many of the other construction companies and design/build firms K&B came in at the best price among the group. Most importantly the finished product exceeded our expectations. They are true professionals and deserve to be considered among the best in the region. I highly recommend them and would happily use them again.

    Design Builders Inc
We received a few estimates and narrowed it down to two one being James (the owner)
He was great to deal with, has awesome technology to design the job and priced right in line with the best estimate we received.
It was really a coin toss at the end and we picked someone else to do the work but I am certain James would have done a great job.  I would say my wife and I went back and forth a dozen times before we finally just had to pick between the two.
If in the future we need another porch or patio I will 100% call James again.

    Karbyte Contracting LLC
This is our second project with Joseph Karbyte. The first one was our bathroom remodel completed on during the summer.  Again, Joseph exceeded our expectations.  He is very professional and exceeds at customer service.  His crew showed up everyday on time, the place was left clean and completely sealed from outside elements every day.  I never had to accommodate my schedule to meet with Joseph, he always made himself available for walkthroughs of the progress and to discuss details. I felt like I was his only client, although I know he had several projects running at once.  Calls and texts were usually returned withing minutes.   I was nervous about going into a full kitchen addition and remodel with a 18M toddler, but Joseph made everything stress-free for me.  I am happy we found a contractor we can trust and we look forward to work with him again in the future.  See pictures of the finished product attached.

    Tectonica LLC
We cannot praise Tectonica's work highly enough. They are extremely professional, polite, neat, punctual, well-priced, and their work is excellent. We have undergone three renovation projects in the past, and this one was both the largest and least-stressful one yet. Tectonica is a team of mainly Bulgarian-Americans, some with very strong accents, but you must overlook those accents. Their work is of the absolute highest quality. If ever a drywall corner or a line wasn't perfect, they would tear it out and start over at no extra cost. Their attention to detail and to the needs of the customer is careful and considered. They would clean up very well daily and often during the work, even when we were away. Their billing is transparent, honest, and straightforward. Any time slight disagreements arose, as they eventually do in any long and extensive renovation, we were able to work out fair solutions without any problem. Ned's father Rousko is a master craftsman and a perfectionist. He never loses his temper, and he was able to coordinate a team of up to 14 workers (at times) with grace and top-level professionalism. Ned is wonderful at managing, scheduling, purchasing, and in general making sure that all of the moving parts are heading in the right direction, and on time. Our work was being done in the Town of Chevy Chase, MD, which means every stage along the way had to pass inspections both by the Town of CC and by Montgomery County. Every step passed (as homeowners we were not able to keep track of all of the inspections, but it was was around a dozen by the end--the guys kept track!). We give Tectonica our highest recommendation and we would use them again in a heartbeat.

    Deck and Shed Pros
First off it started with Steve coming to my house to give me a quote for the job. I was impressed with Steve's professionalism and his ability to sit and finish the proposal within half an hour with drawings too. The price made it even better. My job started the first week of December and the terms of the contract stated it would be done within 16 days. My room was done in 9 days. The skilled craftmanship that went into this room was amazing.  I had my son come over from England for Christmas and he looked at everything the workmen were doing, he said to me mum, in all of the 15 years that you have been having work done on different houses, this is the best work I have ever seen by any workmen, not even in England have I seen such good work. I fully agree with my son's keen observation and do second that motion. Apart from that the guys on the workforce were very helpful in helping me to move heavy stuff around as well as even helping me to get furniture out of storage to put into my brand new room.  I have absolutely no reservations to have this company do work on the house anytime in the future that includes passing their information on to all of my neighbours friends and family.
