  • We have been dealing with Dr. Evans, orthopedic surgeon at Georgetown University Hospital for over 15 years. He is kind, patient, and an expert. We couldn't ask for anyone better A+++++++

  • I recently moved to the DC area.  Not knowing any physicians, I asked my Internist if she could recommend a surgeon for a needed abdominal hernia repair.  She recommended Dr. Goicochea who performed two surgeries:not only the needed abdominal hernia repair, but also the removal of a parathyroid gland. Dr Goicochea was instrumental in diagnosing parathyroid disease.  After seeing multiple doctors in another city before moving to the area for 6 kidney stones,  he identified and resolved my problem -- parathyroid disease . He identified and explained the need for appropriate tests, gathered my history, coordinated appropriate tests to include nuclear scans and removed a parathyroid gland which necessitates a skilled, knowledgeable surgeon.
Above and beyond:  As common with this surgery, I had a drop in calcium levels about 1:00 am after surgery the morning before.  His Release Notes indicated if this happened, the patient was to call.  I called a number listed on the Release Instructions expecting a service to answer. Dr. Goicochea answered himself.  He told me this was normal and that I had done the right thing by calling him. (He stayed on the phone w/me for 45 minutes while I took additional calcium tables until my calcium level normalized--my fingers stopped tingling.
He coordinated my after-surgery care by 3 follow-up visits ad detailed explanations of what and when to expect in the coming months/years.  It is unusual to find such a knowledgeable, experienced, skilled, kind and caring physician/surgeon these days. Dr. Goicochea used the latest surgical techniques and equipment.  As he told me before surgery,  there is no visible scar!
Dr. Goicochea has been recognized as one of the leading surgeons in the D.C. area in Endochronology.

  • Excellent. Conulted with Doctor Mostwyn about test results indicating prostate cancer. They did their own follow-up tests which confirmed the presence of cancer. Surgery was performed approximately 30 days later. The cancer was effectively eliminated and the surgery was successful. Had several follow-up visits for the following 5 years. No reoccurrence.
The selection of Brady was the best I could have made and have peace of mind knowing the procedure was very effective. No side effects. All is well.

  • I had my sonogram reports sent to the doctor's office ahead of time for review. I arrived at my appointment at the Women's Surgery Center and waited about 30 minutes before the doctor was ready. The doctor reviewed my reports with me, drawing a picture of my abdominal area and its internal workings and did a great job of explaining my condition. However, when I told him I wanted to preserve my uterous, he started babbling about me being too old (44) to have a child and pushing for a hysterectomy. I've already seen a world reknowned infertility specialist and my own GYN who is highly trained and an expert on child birth and complicated pregnancies. They both encouraged me to pursue motherhood. I only saw Dr. MacKoul because the radio advertisement made it seem like he was an expert in laparoscopic surgery and that might be possible for me. I really did not appreciate Dr. MacKoul's own personal views (not medically related) about my family options. My overall impression was that Dr. MacKoul does not understand women, their emotions, their desires, etc. I would never, ever allow him to perfom surgery on me. And, I will never use his services again. During our meeting, the doctor said, "I don't mean to be a jerk but....". That pretty much says it all.

  • Terrible experience. Felt a lot of pressure during first meeting to schedule with him right away, even though this wasn't an emergency. Almost like dealing with a car dealer. Very poor communication. Never visited me during the four days I was in the hospital. Was very rude and dismissive to me when I scheduled a follow-up visit in his office to discuss some issues with my recovery that I didn't think were going well. (I found out later from other doctors that it is VERY unusual for a patient to back directly to the surgeon with concerns, and apparently this doctor was aghast that I would dare question him.) He wouldn't listen to my concerns. He said that he does "thousands" of these procedures and nothing has ever gone wrong. I found out later in discussions with other doctors that he out and out LIED to me when he said my reported side effects were absolutely impossible and unheard of. When I kept pushing him regarding my concerns with my side effects he kept repeating, like a robot, "I fixed you." "I fixed you." "I fixed you." He hardly acknowledged my presence. He implied that I was lying. He never got out of his chair, never looked me in the eye. Finally, when I persisted in getting my side effects addressed he said, "You have a pancreatic tumor." Huh? He NEVER examined me for that and never did any tests. How DARE he say I had a tumor? Other doctors that I mentioned this to encouraged me to report him to regulatory agencies. And finally, his breath was terrible. Even sitting across the table from him it almost knocked me out. I later had to have surgery AGAIN to correct the hernia that appeared not to have been fixed correctly, and the different surgeon that I used for this second surgery said that the hernia had never been repaired in the first place. I am a heavy user of medical services, and I have never had anything go as badly as my experience with this doctor. He is just like a surgery mill. He lies. He doesn't do surgery that he says he has done, but he billed the insurance company for it. Stay as far away from him as you can!

  • He had a very good reputation and that is why I went to see him. My experiences with him were fairly cursory. He did the diagnosis well but, there was not much communication between us that took place.

  • I really owe him because he is one of the best doctors. I'm not sure whether he is still the head of surgery at the hospital, so was his father before him. He is very conscientious and caring. I see him every three months.

  • She is extremely professional and is supportive without being condescending. It is an open atmosphere, so I am always comfortable asking questions. She is very busy, so it is difficult to get an appointment.

  • He was very professional. I had only meet him once and had complete confidence in him. He is very good at what he does. He goes back between Maryland and Virginia. I was a referral to him because he was a specialist that cuts the recovery in half. He was covered by my insurance.

  • The experience did go well at all. The doctor operated on one cyst and completely missed one that was in a very obvious location. I went to a different doctor and they were astonished that this was missed. The insurance also informed us that the cost was a magnitude over and above what was average for the procedure. We also referred to a different doctor and the cost was 1/6th of the cost Dr. Zorc was charging,.
