Billy Mulcaire is fantastic! The workmanship is top notch and beautiful, the professionalism is excellent (always on time or early, always does what he says), but I got so much value from his extensive experience. That turned out to be the best part. He knows this stuff inside and out. He's quick and efficient, and he's always seeing the big picture and 10 steps ahead. He can look at a plan and immediately see the flaws (like fitting appliances through a 28" laundry room doorway). Saves time and money. He knows how to put value in a design (like the new window that totally transformed the apartment space, or leaving the brick exposed in the powder room). I also had complete trust that my house was in good hands, meaning I didn't have to sweat the day-to-day stuff. If he's doing the job, he's 100% responsible and thinking of every detail. Billy also runs a clean job site. He's respectful and friendly and so are his guys. They were easy to have around. Everything came out great! Really, really nice. The craftsmanship is obvious, particularly where the old had to blend with the new. Or when salvaged materials were retrofitted. I would hire Kingcaire again for the quality of work alone. The expertise and professionalism are the icing on top.

Estimate process and confirmation of scheduling required follow-up calls. But once the team arrived, they were great. They reviewed each decision with me. They pointed out additional deterioration, eg on the trim, and replaced the piece before painting. The team was very conscientious re solid fixes that won't require redoing. The work was completed within the labor estimate, although it stretched slightly longer. Team cleaned up each day.

    AROCON Roofing & Construction
The salesman, Rich Canning, who assessed the work that needed to be done, was able to provide a quote within an hour on the same day he visited the property.  Mr. Canning was very knowledgable and easy to work with.  The price he quoted was much less than one of other contractors I had survey the work and provide quotes.  Also, I had to wait quite a while to get quotes from the other contractors.  He also understood what was causing a water overflow from the flashing around the chimney onto the shoulder bricks of the chimney.  (The lower chimney bricks were covered with moss and mold and the mortar was starting to be damaged.)
The job was supposed to be completed in about a week.  The gutters were to be removed, the wood rot repaired, the soffits covers installed, and then my painter was to paint the newly installed wood and soffits after which the gutters and gutter screens were to be installed.  At this point, problems started.  They sent one man (a carpenter) and a helper who basically disappeared at midday, to do the work.  The carpenter had stopped at Home Depot to pick up his materials without inspecting the job first (which is the process the company follows).  Unfortunately, the wood purchased for the soffit replacement was not the same thickness as the soffit that was purchased.  However, the carpenter installed it and figured he could make it work ok.  Me, being pretty anal about such things, rejected his idea and went to TW Perry and bought different size wood, which also was not the right size.  However, the carpenter and my painter figured out how to make it all work.  I was very grateful for that since there was no way to get the correct size.  The soffit covers did not exactly fit into the soffit openings because the openings varied in size around the perimeter of the house.  Long story short, there was no way in the world they were going to finish the work on time.  After a few discussions with the home office staff, who were extremely professional and checked in with us via telephone every day, a few more workman came on the job.  They had to hand cut the openings to get the soffit covers to fit.  The original carpenter worked over the weekend and to get the work done.  I was a little amazed that he had to borrow tools from my painter and asked me to purchase one tool for him, which I was glad to do as he was working very hard, but I had not expected to encounter that.
The gutters and gutter guards were installed by a subcontractor, and then the rains came.  The water problem we were having with water dripping onto the shoulders of the chimney was not solved.  There were a few other problems with the gutter install, but the gutter company sent a man out about three times to make adjustments.  Aroncon sent the same two carpenters who had installed the soffits to fix the flashing problem.  They had to come a couple of times, but they did fix it.  I was not happy to find nails in the driveway, but my painter and I found them all, so no unintentional flat tires have occurred.  Also, I have never received the warranty on the gutter covers which I called about several times, but never received.
After all the dust settled, I was pleased with the finished product and think they did a good job for the price I paid for the work.  I would use them again.  I think they need to rethink their process for purchasing materials before the actual worker has a chance to confirm what is needed.  There is no way the original salesman would have known about the soffit thickness when he priced the job.  He assumed a standard thickness, which turned out to be incorrect.  Same for the width of the soffit openings which varied at different places.   I really don't know how well the job would have gone if my painter hadn't been on site nearly the entire time to keep an eye on things for us.  But I must say, if you are  reasonably knowledgable about home repairs so you can evaluate the work being performed, I think this company is a bargain.

Originally it was a bit challenging to find a time for the estimate (they were targeting 9-3 - not ideal unless there is someone home all day) They did accommodate our time request. The estimate was done quickly and the work scheduled shortly after.

Alex was prompt, thorough - completed all the repairs mentioned above and touched up the paint where needed. All repairs were done within the big deal offer of 4 hours - there were minor additional charges for materials.

We were very happy with the work that was done and would use them again in the future.

    Thank you!

Jason and his designer arrived on time at our home to give an estimate for a 2-car garage addition. They discovered that the zoning for our house was different that I had assumed which affected our required property setbacks. They discussed alternative designs with us on the spot to make the most of the space we do have. Less than a week later Jason came back with a quick sketch floorplan and an ITEMIZED estimate that details all aspects of the job and their cost. I have to say, I've never had a contractor provide this level of detail.
Jason and crew are courteous and low-pressure which we appreciate. As for cost, Jason explained that he quoted quality materials and common options so that there would be no surprise overages or hidden costs.

Excellent planning, communication with us, attentively listened to our objectives and ideas about how to do the work, made excellent suggestions, always on time, accommodated our erratic schedules, all jobs done on time and under cost. All the various kinds of experts (plumbers, electricians, carpenters, landscapers, concrete-men, drywall installers, painters, etc) were very knowledgeable, skilled, articulate, polite, and accommodating. In other words -- very professional. Their costs were very reasonable. They got us much better prices for excellent-quality materials and appliances than we were able to get from vendors.

Regrettably, Eric and team were not the low offeror, probably because this project was a bit outside of their normal work area, and the travel and transportation cost made them 2nd low bid to a local contractor right down the street.  The $5K delta was enough to sway us for the equally competent contractor, but from a management, technical, and logistics standpoint, Eric and team were highly qualified, and I was chomping at the bit to work with them.  Professional, highly qualified, courteous, and trustworthy; I would gladly hand them the keys to my elderly Mom's home, and let them go to work without a second thought or worry.  Eric and his folks provided awesome design and construction advice, even after losing the contract!!  I have a future job coming ... total coastal cottage knock down and rebuild, and they will be on the short bid list!!  Good people, doing good work, for a good price ... can't ask for more!!

    Glickman Design Build
I returned to the Washington, D.C. area for medical reasons. I had just purchased an apartment and needed to get into it quickly before protracted medical procedures ensued. The Glickman squad gave superb service. Friendly, hard-working, accommodating. When I hit a snag on what to do about a certain design matter, the construction director was quick to offer suggestions, which I almost always agreed to.   It was a relatively small job, but the quality was excellent, and I am delighted that the price came in at less than $30,000 which is what I had told them was my limit.  Thank you fellows for a superb job, well-done and in very quick order.

    Deck and Shed Pros
It went great.  MD Deck & Shed surveyed the job immediately.  They discussed the plans and the issues.  Before construction began, I understood what was going to be done and what it would cost.  Their team is professional, punctual and honest.  I could not be more pleased with the outcome. Glad I have Angie's List.

GarageTek of Greater Washington (VA / DC / MD)
We used an Angie's List coupon for the work and got about $2000 off of the total bill.
The garage looks great, AND, I think they could do a better job of
installation in two ways: they need to include a peice of wood
underneath the wall, to close off the space between the original garage
wall and the new wall material. This way, rodents can't climb through
and access open spaces that may have been there before the installation.
Also, I felt that for the price, the clean up could have been a little
better and the communication after the sale could have been more prompt
    and attentive.
That being said, the crew showed up on the day
they were scheduled, though not at the time I thought, and they worked
quickly, pulled everything in and out of the garage, and put things away
(though not in an organized way). It would also be nice, for the price,
to spend an extra hour at the home arranging things where the client would like them.
