Hvac Repair reviews in Berlin

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Technician arrived at expected time and diagnosed a faulty fuse. He estimated $162 to replace the fuse. I asked that he check coolant charge on another unit (as he was not able to check the unit that had no power) and he asked for an additional $49. This is all on top of the $99 diagnostic fee for the service call. I had another company replace the fuse - a $15 part and 15 min repair. Cost for part and labor was $60. The lady who scheduled the service call was great - very helpful.

  • Found ourselves with no heat!! Called Jeff Bradford's company. Response was quick and two Tech Workers were sent out. They respected our home by putting on those shoe covers so as not to dirty our rugs.
They made some adjustments to our thermostats and restored our heat.
Something still wasn't right as  the problem recurred.  Then owner himself followed up and discovered a part that needed to be replaced. No other repair folks had noticed this problem, but Jeff was diligent. We'd been frustrated as to repairs and finally someone (Jeff) figured it out. We were very pleased with response and competence from this company. We are relieved to find someone knowledgeable in regard to the sometimes complicated HVAC  system.

  • They were able to go out the same day to fix the AC, so that was great.  They were very responsive and the tech was very nice.  I ended up purchasing a service plan and that was very reasonable as well.

  • Dave called ahead and told me when he would arrive. He arrived on time and was very professional. He verified what I needed done. He began working right away. When complete he went over what he had done. He reviewed a plan with me that would save me money. Very good experience.

  • Just as they stated. Didn't try to talk me into anything I didn't need. What they didn't do, the service tech basically explained to me how to do it myself and paying someone else to do it would have been throwing money away. Will call them if I need further assistance.

  • A neighbor called us in Pittsburgh about our heat pump compressor that was running constantly.  We sent him a key to our house.  He reset the furnace and the heat came on.  On our next visit we selected Ocean Breeze Htg and Air from Angies List to look at our system.  Charles came as agreed.  He found a capacitor that was not working, replaced it, and inspected the rest of the system.  Our heat is working fine now.  He will return in the spring to inspect the air conditioning.  Charles was pleasant and answered all our questions.  He also took a picture of the information on our heat pump so we could find some documentation on the internet.  We give Charles a gold star for his service.

  • My Preventive maintenance insurance company, AHS (American Home Shield) sent TNT out for a semi annual preventive maintenance check on my 2 furnace systems. Both were working fine before he arrived and he confirmed this in his check. 2 weeks later a cold spell arrived and my hybrid unit would not get up to temperature and shut down. We called back AHS and they said they would send TNT out. We called TNT and left several messages.3 days later TNT called and made arrangements to come out. He said it had frozen and he and quot;straightenedand quot; the drain line. I have had this system for 20 years and the drains never froze before and I doubted they did now. 1 week later the same thing happened.

Again we called AHS who contacted TNT and again he took several days to contact us and did not return my calls to him in a timely manner. This time I gave him the code the furnace was showing for the problem. He could not resolve it. He also broke a part and said he would contact the manufacturer for suggestions. 10 days later he returned to replace all the hoses and a pressure switch and the part he broke. In doing this he broke more parts which he went out and bought locally and replaced. It appears he may have finally fixed the furnace but I will not use him again due to his terrible response time and failure to return calls and his seemingly inferior knowledge of heating systems. I am also cancelling me preventive maintenance checks with American Home Shield, but not my repair contract with them as they have been very good.

  • Service and repair of our ac unit. The repairman was very prompt and worked to figure out the problem. He was honest and told us that the unit appeared to be leaking freon. He said he could not find the leak but we should watch to see if we have any trouble with the cooling. If the leak gets worse it will be easier to locate. He was prompt and polite. Very pleased with Boyd's and will use them again if needed. Only problem was we called on Sunday and left a message apparently the message service did not provide our message. We had to call Monday morning.

  • My AC unit overflow drain was clogged and some water started spilling out over my pan onto my ceiling. What a mess! The repair guy came out and fixed the issue. He also told me how I could save money on my after hours service call by signing up for their service club, which I did that same day. Even after signing up, I still saved $25!

  • I enjoyed working with them a great deal.  After talking to 4 different contractors and getting a wide range of quotes - $6,900 from a Small Contractor that took 45 days to get me the quote (I am a small business and am busy) to $15,000 (flexible ducts? rigid dicuts? you can have anything you want) - I decided to go with First Class.
I found them very responsive and they listened carefully to understand my needs for a system for my vacation house - my desire to balance efficiency of the system, with the ability for it to make rapid changes in the temperature of the house (when we arrive late at night), with cost.  We agreed upon a heat pump with an electric assist.  We talked a lot about where to install the system - get the compressor away from the bedroom window (who would do that?) to the other side of the garage and put the air handler up in the attic (the old system was in the crawl space and I had endless troubles with flooding, moisture, and condensation).  They were even sensitive to my concerns about having unnecessary electrical/moving parts and installed a gravity drain rather than a condensation pump.
Their installation team was superb.  They had drop cloths everywhere, wore booties (I always thought it was a gimmick - but I did appreciate the thought), and moved quickly.  They did an excellent job in removing the old system from the crawly space and covering up the old duct holes.  These guys love silicone...... and that is a good thing; they caulked every possible opening with a ton of caulk... no air is getting anywhere.   They had to rip out the bottom half of my closet where the the prior supply fed from and route it from the ceiling.  The only tiny weakness is that they were clearly not drywall specialists.... but they did a competent job.
Read my prior reviews..... you will clearly see that I am not hesitant to be critical.  No need to be with these guys.  It is really a joy to write a great review.  Very happy with these folks.
