Sewer Cleaning reviews in Annapolis

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • I had a bad clog along the main sewer line that backed up my first floor bathroom.  I was told by the plumber who came out for emergency servicing that I had extensive root intrusion running along the entire sewer line and my best bet would be to replace the entire line.  That plumber removed the clog and punctured a hole through the roots (a temporary fix) for $1000 and then gave me a quote to replace the entire line multiples higher than that.
Life has told me that, when people think you?re desperate (or dumb), get more quotes!  I got four and each time the price came down. But Heidler?s visit to quote the job was quite different than the rest.  Tim Thorpe from Heidler asked me if the previous plumber let ME view the video of the line! What?!  That sounds too much like right, right?  But they didn?t!  In fact, the former plumber told me the roots were so bad, they couldn?t get the video camera to the street?or back!  Jim offered to try and had NO PROBLEM running the video the entire line?and there was no extensive root intrusion either.  And he let ME view the video alongside him.  The root intrusion was very localized, probably less than 4 inches thick, and, luckily, in the most inconspicuous place in my yard.  Had I used the other guys, I would have also ruined my landscaping.
Heidler?s effort was very targeted.  They know what they?re doing.  They went right to the problem.  They replaced that section of the pipe, added a clean out to make any future investigations easier and gave the pipe a good power washing.  Heidler is well known and has a great reputation here in Annapolis.  Interestingly, I had also heard they were expensive.  Not so for me.  Heidler?s solution to the problem was only a fraction of the cost of the other guys.  I got quality work for the right price along with that hard-to-find transparency and integrity.  Thank You Tim!

  • The charge was a little steep but the quality of work made it worth it. The drain that was ordered wasn't a great fit for the installation but the quality workers were able to modify it to fit the installation. it rained hard last week and the drain worked like a champ. Well done Heil!

  • I called Alpha Plumbing on Monday morning and spoke with a very nice representative. I told her about the clog and asked if she would go over the possible cost. She explained how the process would likely go and gave me an estimate and a two-hour window when the plumber would call to let us know he was on the way. Everything went as she said it would. A very nice and capable plumber arrived and was finished in less than an hour. He left everything clean and tidy--you would have never known he had been snaking out the drain. The total cost was less than her estimate. I called them around 9:00 AM, and the drain was cleared before 1:00 PM. This will be my go-to for any plumbing needs in the future. I would highly recommend this company.

  • The company was very professional, competent and polite. They explained the process as they went along. They even saved my garden beds! They completed the work in the time slated and did a great job cleaning up!

  • I have had a few plumbers over the years so I have a bit of experience in the variance in punctuality and craftsmanship. Millersville Plumbing is an awesome outfit. They showed up exactly when they said they would. They listened to what I had to say and got right to work. When I showed them something that I hadn't originally asked them to to they got to work and got it done with out hesitation. Both of the plumbers were personable and professional. They cleaned up the work area and left things spotless.  I will hire them again when I need plumbing work done.

  • The owner, Paul Kingston, came out to do the initial estimate.  I need repair or replacement of an existing copper line to the outside hose bibs that had frozen and burst at a ball valve the previous winter.  I had tried to repair it myself with disastrous results.  Paul suggested using Uponor PEX pipe which is much more resistant to freeze-breakage than copper or rigid plastic pipe. He also suggested adding a drain valve so that I could empty the line during the winter.
A few days later they sent me an estimate which I found reasonable and they were able to schedule the work for the following week.  Keith and Kyle arrived right on time. I walked them through the project and they got right to work. The job seemed nicely done and they demonstrated that everything worked as requested.  When they were done they cleaned up all their supplies and debris.  They didn't put everything back in position in the basement workshop where they had been working inside.  OK so they didn't know where everything should go, I'll grant you, but the portable work bench is probably not stored in the doorway.  My only very minor complaint about that portion of the job.
The other action was "to obtain measurements from county mapping to approximate sewer cleanout location."  Keith came to the door about a half hour later to ask me to look at something.  He took me to a small hole, one of several, next to the driveway about halfway between the house and the street.  He said there were a lot roots in the soil, not surprising considering the size of the oak tree next to the driveway.  Anyway, while he was searching for the clean out and trying to get through the roots he severed the FIOS cable line.  He admitted it was totally his fault and that the Chesapeake Plumbing would pay for the repairs.  When he gave me the invoice he provided a number with the county for me to call and they would provide the location of the sewer clean-out.
    Stuff happens.
Chesapeake made good on the promise to pay for the repairs.  I told the Verizon tech what had happened and he asked for the plumber's address. Verizon sent all the repair bills directly the Chesapeake Plumbing and I haven't heard anything about it since.
My frustration with the situation comes on two points.
    1. It was obvious from the MULTIPLE holes in the yard that Keith did not have information from the county on the location of the clean out, even though this is what Chesapeake had contracted to do.
    2. Even as, I assume, a journeyman plumber he shouldn't have been digging for the clean out, which should be close to main sewer line and demarcating the county's line of responsibility, halfway up my yard.
I may use Chesapeake Plumbing again, but with more wariness and watchfulness.

  • i had gone with a different company a few months earlier who had used a small snake and really didn't do the job very well...the Drain Cleaner used larger/much longer snake and kept working at it til they were satisfied the job was done well.  An excellent father/son team.  I would recommend them and would use again.

  • We have had a few plumbers come look at our constantly gurgling plumbing at the office. Alpha was the first company who seems to have actually fixed the problem. Very responsive, very professional. Will definitely use again.

  • John came over to clear a blockage in my sewer line.  I had located him with a Angie's list deal for clearing drain lines.  He was later than I expected, however, I was grateful that he came over that day.  I showed him the problems that I was having and he attempted to put the auger down an access that I have in the basement

The augur's cutting line kept turning up into piping going to the main level rather than down through the main sewer line.  John was unable to clear the line.
He spent about 2 hours at my house.  He recommended that I get a company with a sewer camera out to inspect the plumbing.  He said that he didn't have a camera and would at least have to charge me a sewer camera rental fee of $300 if he was to do the inspection and that I would be able to get another company out cheaper.
Finally, he did not charge me for the service and diagnostic assistance because he said that he did not fix my problem.  The visit was FREE !

  • Mike and Jason came out and attempted to put the camera in through an access in the basement.  When this didn't work, they attempted to go through the vent line on the roof.  When this didn't work, they pulled the toilet on the main level and were successful with their camera inspection.  The camera inspection identified a root in the main sewer line.  Mike used a detector to identify the location of the camera under my lawn.
Mike and Jason then used the augur to cut the root out of the line.
Finally, they put the camera down to verify the root was cleared.  The camera went all the way to the city sewer line with no blockages.
