We won't be using Cal Pools again. Regular weekly maintenance was okay. However, when our pool/spa ran into any issues, Cal Pools didn't seem to have the skills/expertise to handle, and the owner was not super helpful. Also, they keep no staff over the winter, and we keep our spa running in the winter so there is nobody to help if you run into an issue. Bottom line - if you just need someone to show up, skim your pool, check PH level, and add some chemicals they would be probably be fine. The staff that comes each week were pleasant. Price for that on a weekly basis is decent when compared to other companies. But if you need repairs, they are not timely, they don't have the expertise to fix it right the first time, and they overcharge. For anyone who cares about the details: Pool Opening: Sent someone out to open our pool who didn't know how to program the spa remote and thus not able to set up and open the spa during pool opening. When they sent the tech repair person, he set up the spa remote but something happened and ended up draining our spa. Continued to have issues for weeks, and was going back and forth on parts needed. We also got charged each time the tech came out. I emailed the owner because I thought we should not have to pay for each time the tech came out for the SAME issue. We shouldn't have continued to be charged because the tech didn't figure out the root cause of our spa draining the first or even the second time. I paid the invoice because the owner didn't agree, and we were locked into contract the remainder of the season. Overall, there was a lot of back and forth, and issue didn't get fixed until almost July when I reached out to owner with concern that we were approaching mid-way through the season and still not fixed. I'd also note that Cal Pools also didn't seem too concerned that our spa had drained. When I called the original pool company that built our pool, they expressed concern about a drained spa and told me to fill up the spa right away with the hose or else we risked getting cracks in the spa. 2) Pool Chemicals: We contracted service for our salt water system pool (and paid for salt chemicals to be added to our salt water system pool). However, I saw Cal Pools dumping liquid chlorine directly in the pool. I contacted the owner about that and no issues after that. 3) Winter Visit: Our contract states "This Agreement includes two (2) winter check-up services (to occur in the months of January and March). Cal Pools shall provide the following winter check-up services: draining of pool water level as required, the addition of appropriate chemicals, and checking general pool condition." The January visit was cancelled via email because there was not enough rain so Cal Pools said pool levels would be fine. They said if anyone had an issue, to contact them. I understand cancelling if not necessary, however, at the very least, could have refunded some money. Unprofessional not to provide the full service that you're contracted for. I, and my father-in-law are home during the day, and neither of us saw anyone come check our pool for the March visit. I contacted Cal Pools in early April to see when they were coming, and was told that they had come in Mid-March. I asked what date they came, and if they could please confirm with their folks the date they came. I found it odd that not only did we not see them arrive in our backyard (and we have a dog that would go beserk), but our spa didn't have a new chlorine tablet in the basket which I would have expected. The basket was empty, and per the contract, the winter visit includes the "addition of appropriate chemicals." Cal Pools told me they couldn't be more specific than that on the date and that they don't add chemicals if the water is clear. Yet, Cal Pools had told me just last fall to make sure I put a new chlorine tablet in the spa basket every 2-3 weeks. So, why didn't they put a new one in? Either they didn't really show up as they claim they did, or they didn't fulfill the entire winter visit per the contract. Neither makes me want to recommend them. Ever.

Showed up on time and called before to confirm the appointment.  Very competent work.  Easily completed all of the work.  He repaired 2 outside light fixtures that weren't working (especially when it was wet).  He did some wiring work in the electrical panel to prevent the issue from happening again.  I expected it to take a few hours, but he got done so quickly that for no additional charge he fixed an electrical outlet in a bathroom and a light that wasn't working above the hot tub.  Fast, efficient and reasonably priced.  I would recommend and use these guys again in a minute.

They did a great job, cleaned up everything, and were careful about preserving the foundation plants. The price was reasonable.

G and L Building and Design has done two other jobs for me. They totally renovated my kitchen and family room about 7 years ago and built a gas fireplace in my sunroom about 4 years ago. The crew arrives when scheduled and cleans up when they leave. The workmanship is of highest quality and the owner, Glen Malone, is honest and knowledgeable. I highly recommend G and L.

John Krause was recommended to me by a good friend who had been very pleased with his work.  I wanted to add a sunroom to the back of my home and I had several contractors give me their prices. John listened to what I wanted and his bid was the most affordable.  His workers were very professional, and they all did an amazing job.  They completed the job at budget and sooner than expected.  I am delighted with my new room, and I have enthusiastically recommended John to many of my friends, who also were extremely happy with his work.

His pricing was fair, he was very easy to work with, very responsive to my calls, and his workers were all very professional and did an excellent job.  Mr. Lord was on top of all aspects of the job which involved a cement foundation, framing, drywall, painting, flooring and all electrical work.  I was extremely satisfied with the result and will hire him for another project next year.

In my various houses over the years, I have dealt with perhaps 100 or more service companies of various types. This is the worst
company I have ever dealt with. They charged nearly $2,000 up front by credit card for a season of pool service (opening and closing and weekly services), and soon starting skipping service. When I complained, they made unauthorized charges to my credit card. When I complained about that, they stopped all together. The pool water turned foul after a couple of weeks of neglect but they never again responded to any complaint whatsoever, nor did they respond to multiple requests for refunds for the remainder of the season. This company is as bad as they get.

I hired Sunrise - a local pool service provider to renovate our aging in-ground pool. They offered a service and price that appeared reasonable and within the range of other bids we received. I was not aware that subcontrators were to perform all the work. The plastering of the pool bottom was completed to our satisfaction. However, the tiling subcontractor did sloppy work, installing some tiles on the steps crookedly in contrast to the promised smooth and clean line of tiles. Vertical tiles along the waterline were set out from the wall almost an inch relative to the pool edge (existing coping) at some of the curved areas of the pool shape. Additionally, the subcontractor left a substantial mess behind, leaving wet plaster all over the driveway, landscaping and side of the house. The wall required power washing which removed the plaster but discolored the paint.
Sunrise Pools never came to quality check the job or the mess on the driveway and house. When I asked the owner why he hadn't done any quality checking he replied that he was too busy. I pointed out that the crew foreman on the job made no quality check either. Sunrises' attitude was that it was the subcontractor who screwed up and they would see to it that the subcontractor fixed the problems at the subcontractor's expense.
When I complained to the owner he came to my house with his subcontractor. They spent a lot of time discussing if and how to best repair the problems without leaving a visible patch in the new plaster. They were uncertain whether a patch would show. or that the tiles would not end in mismatched pieces. Apparently the existing plaster would need to cure for 30 days before any repairs could be attempted during which time the color can change slightly. They were also concerned that after that time they would not exactly be able to match the color of the cured plaster. Yet they decided that they would patch the job and that they needed to repair only 4 or 5 tiles in the steps and they would knock out about a one-foot section of the vertical tile and replace it. It's unclear to me how they could knock out the vertical tile in a small area, recess it about an inch into the curve without creating a gap in the pattern of the tile or to have tile mismatch.
Sunrise did have the subcontractor come back to our house to clean up the driveway and the house. On this occasion, I caught the workers going to my barn to help themselves to our gasoline for their power washer. When I told them not to use our gas, they went out to our barn again to get our power washer. I then told them to leave and go buy gas if they needed gas for their equipment, but not to go near by my barn again. They were not polite or professional.
After having two such bad experiences with the quality of work that we hired Sunrise to perform and after a lot of careful thought, I declined Sunrises' offer to have the same subcontractor repair their sloppy work. Their uncertainty in the final results convinced me that the repair might cause more harm than good. I expected Sunrise to be responsible for the work and they expect their subcontractor to be responsible. In the end, I paid a lot of money and got a job that looks like a homeowner did the work instead of a professional.

In 2002 KD Sweet Construction Company added a sunroom to our home.  It is a beautiful room which has been essentially problem free.  Mr. Sweet designed and built this room.  Some of the main features include the building of the deck, the framing of the room and a vaulted roof with six skylights.  The roof was built as an extension to the existing house and made to match perfectly.  Actually, the room appears to have been a part of the original house.    The room has received numerous compliments.  We recommend K D Sweet Construction for its superior workmanship.

I contacted Hands 4 You Assembly (after finding them on Angie's List) for an estimate (via email) to install a 12-15 foot trampoline with an enclosure in my back yard. I also asked for advice on particular brands of trampolines to look for, or stay away from. The business owner replied to my email with an estimate of $130 for the trampoline installation and while he did not list particular brands, he mentioned those that he had built a lot of, and indicated that they have been sturdy. Once I bought the trampoline online, I had it delivered to my home and contacted them again (via phone) to schedule assembly. It took a couple days for him to get back to me but once assembly was scheduled, everything was great. They confirmed the appointment time the evening before. They showed up on time, were extremely polite and courteous. They were very knowledgeable about the assembly and showed me some tips and tricks to keep it safe for the kids and to keep it in good shape over the winter. Overall, a great experience and a pleasure to deal with.

In the 12 years that they have been taking care of our pool, I have not had a single complaint. They have always worked meticulously, shown up on time, and have responded promptly when I called them. All around a great service, and I would score them a 10 out of 10. Excellent.
