Muffler Repair reviews in Annapolis

Ok first of all they did the repair on my truck which was a muffler /tailpipe and two struts and the repair I have no problem with... I got a estimate over the phone when I called them which was inline around $450 for labor, they promised to call with a parts quote and then would go forward with work if I wanted to. I got a call that the truck was done , but did not ever get a parts quote ( I figured muffler tailpipe and a couple struts right can't be that much) I went in to get my truck and got a bill for nearly $1,100 for parts which I didn't get a chance to approve or know cost. I paid the charge and then when I got home got prices on the exact parts supplied online (got the strut numbers and muffler cost) Well from Amazon prime I could buy the struts for $103 each, and the muffler/tailpipe was $112.  Also got other pricing from auto zone and other vendors so the overall price for parts ranged from around $340-450. I called and left a message I was not happy and didn't get a response so called back, I got a lot of attitude -We only use best parts -We mark our parts up 60% -ETC... I explained I have no issue with marking up your parts but you buy them wholesale cheaper or at least the same cost.. And I never got a price quote for parts to approve. I was deferred to I will speak to Vicky and get back to you .... that was nearly two weeks ago. I am not abject to paying for labor at the rates, or evan a fair parts markup... but unless they don't care about parts pricing to pay a 300% markup is way beyond acceptable . I guess they don't think people will look up price of parts so they jam them and then don't respond when questioned. there are a lot of options for repairs in this area I would avoid this place .

On March 28th I went to Maryland Muffler to get an estimate for working on/replacing my exhaust system and to confirm whether or not I needed a new boot and axle (as recommended by another company). Because I was not the first person to arrive, I was told there would be an hour wait.....which was reasonable with other vehicles in front of mine.  I only waited about 30 minutes before my SUV was taken into the service bay.  Upon completing the inspection I was told I only needed a new muffler and tailpipe and that I did not need a new boot or axle.  Hearing that news was money in my pocket for future repairs.  The shop did not have the muffler needed for my SUV but it was due in later in the day.  I asked Vince if he could call me to let me know that the part had arrived so I could be at the shop first thing in the morning as opposed to waiting until they opened at 8 to make the call.  Late in the day I received a call advising that the part had been delivered.
On the 29th I returned to Maryland Muffler at 8 AM and was their first customer.  (They don't take appointments - its first come first served.) I was advised it would take about an hour but was pleasantly surprised when the work was completed in about 45 minutes.  Once I arrived home I realized I couldn't find my receipt. After a phone call to the shop, I learned I left it on the counter.  Vince agreed to mail it to me. All-in-all the customer experience at Maryland Muffler was a positive one and I will definitely use their services again and refer them.

They looked at my car within a few minutes of my arrival.  They diagnosed it and gave me a reasonable quote.  They said it would be done by the end of the day and it was.  Car was clean when I picked it up and fixed - must quieter.  They were very reliable.  They meant what they said and didn't charge me a different amount than what they quoted.  Work was completed when they said it would be.  You really can't ask for more than that.  I would definitely go back.

I took my 1998 323CI BMW into Redd's last month and was severely disappointed. Let me detail how unprofessional Redd's was in turn:

    1. I first tried to contact Redd's by phone on a Monday. No response, and no voicemail.

    2. I then sent Redd's an email via the web address provided on their website. No response.

    3. On Thursday, I called Redd's again and did get a response this time. We scheduled a time to bring my car in the following Monday, which was good for me since I could have one of my office mates accompany me and drive me back to work.

    4. I dropped off the car on Monday with the verbal agreement that the car would be diagnosised at the very latest by Wednesday afternoon. It was not. In fact, it wasn't diagnosed until late Friday afternoon and then only after I had repeated called to inquire on the status.

    5. I then continued to wait until the following Tuesday to get an estimate of how much the repairs would cost.

When I finally got the estimate i was shocked! First, Redd's had charged me $200.00 to just and quot;lookand quot; over my car. This included telling me that my foglamps were missing and my headliner was falling down... Thanks Redd's, I can see that myself. Then these guys proposed charging me up to $500.00 to replace my spark plugs and one of my direct ignition coils. For those that don't know much about cars, changing spark plugs isn't that difficult. To pay these guys $300 plus dollars for their labor means either they were charging me $200 per hour or that it took them 3 hours to change the plugs, both of which are ridiculous. I can go into more of the repair estimates, but the rest of their costs were also ridiculous. My favorite was their particular prices of parts, which in some cases were double or triple the cost of which I COULD BUY ONLINE.

I will never go back to these bozos and I don't recommend you do either.

Good service. I was able to drop truck off on the way to work using drop box. Also able to pay over the phone so I could pick my truck up when I was able to get a ride. Work looks good.

It turned out great. They were good and got it taken care of. It was a little over an hour to complete. The communication was great. Expect fairness, good price and a quick turn around.
