You have to make sure you give advance notice. Each of the runs is both indoor and outdoor. I can put all 3 of my dogs in one run. They do a fine job. My one dog, Abby, was not eating. They sent me a message to let me know that to see if I had any feedback.

We use them a lot. They do play dates with them and they do like special things with them. The staff is all very, very friendly. They actually have a pool outside for the dogs to go in in the summer and the staff gets in the pool and play with them. It’s just a really relax and laidback. I can be really stressful for dogs and it’s really a relax place for them. The staff is all very dog friendly. I don’t feel like they treat it like a job. I feel like they really love what they do. They are truly happy to be at work. If your dog is there more than 3 days, they do a video collage of her playing and all that stuff and they e-mail you a video like a PowerPoint presentation of your dog and how happy they are and stuff. Like pictures of them playing with the staff and playing with the other dogs. It’s pretty awesome. Our old dog was really, really sick and really old and she died when she was there and they were so upset. I almost say that they were more upset than we were not because it happened there but because it happened at all. They had her cremated and all that stuff. They took care of everything for us. It was really like a full service. They called the vet in when they found her unresponsive. They did a really, really great job. I think their price is expensive but you get what you pay for. I would feel comfortable leaving my children there too if they take kids. They really do a good job and they have a doggy daycare there too. During the holidays, the dogs make crafts “for their people”.

Our golden was well cared for and the staff was very friendly. They are in a fantastic location near the airport and are priced well enough for the area. Other less convenient places are cheaper and worth it for a longer stay, but we will definitely return for short trips out of town. My only big complaint is that they charge $1.50 per administration of medication. Our dog needs a half a pill twice a day and since I provide the medication and treat for the pill to go in, I'm confused as to what I'm paying $3.00 extra a day for. He can handle a full pill in the morning so I cheat and save a little money that way, but wish we didn't have to worry about it.

Dogwood Acres Pet Retreat gave our dogs de luxe rooms and the Happy Camper package which gives them extra breaks and more interaction. We have used them for the last couple of years. They are very friendly and love dogs. They really look after the animals. They are out in the country and the dogs seem to be happy with them.

I sent my 3 dogs in perfect health to Applewood and got them the best rooms and best packages. They called me to tell me my largest dog was on his way to the emergency room because of bloat, he almost died. He had very specific feeding and excercise instructions which i believed they ignored. $4000 later he barely survived. The next day they called me to tell me my bulldog was on antibiotics. I was furious because I hadn't okayed it. What i didnt realize is that my dog had been mauled. He had to have his face drained for a week. They tried to tell me that my chihuhua did it (these are animals who have been together for 5 years) and do not fight. he had puncture wounds on his head and cheek. AT THE VERY LEAST I WOULD HAVE APPRECIATED THE TRUTH ( i am aware that dogs get in fights, not that they were supposed to be with other dogs)9 the vet laughed when we told them that my chihuhua was suppose to be the culprit) I had to pick up all three of my dogs from the emergency room. They never so much as called to see if the dogs were ok or to apologize. they charged us full price for the stay.I would say at the very least they could have shown some compassion for our poor dogs. Please don't bring your dogs here. Second home may not look as good but the owner was the head of the humane society for 5 years. I felt much more comfortable with them there.

Droped off our pet at 7:30 AM for day care and proceded to drive to Philadelphia,PA for some work related issues.  Because of the amount of work and traffic we could not return in time to pick up our pet by 7PM.  We contacted Happy Tails and told them of our predictament.  They readily accomodated our request for overnight stay (boarding) and even provided food for our pet.  We were able to return to the Annapolis area by the next morning and picked up our pet.

Simply put, we are very happy with the knowledge, professionalism and caring attitude of the staff. We know the dogs will be well cared for in the kennels. Recommend Beechnut for kennels and daycare.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They took me on a complete tour of the facility. The place wasn't exactly a four-star hotel, like some more expensive kennels try to be, but for a dog, it was just fine. It was clean, safe, and comfortable, and that's all it needed to be. They made sure she was fed, let out, and exercised several times a day. My dog was on medication at the time, and they were very sure to get the proper dosage and schedule correct. They even offered to bathe her at no extra charge when I picked her up. I declined, but appreciated the offer!

They do an excellent job and I have no complaints with them. The workers are very caring, punctual and nice. The place is kept clean and the price is charged on the number of days my dog is kept there.

We've been using Barking Hound Village since moving here two years ago. They love our girls as much as we do. We always rent a private suite when they're available, because we feel guilty about leaving them behind. They are always returned clean, clipped and smelling good. We highly recommend them.
