    Perrone Landscaping
Perrone Landscaping returned my inquiry quickly to let me know that the job was larger than they customarily take on, but also provided a referral to another company that could help. You've got to like a business that is not only in business to succeed, but actually looks to help you - whether you are a customer or not. That's why I rated them so highly.

Beware this company. They broke a large picture window, 12 foot by 6 foot and have refused to provide their Insurance information so I can get this repaired. Before you do business make sure you have proof of insurance in hand so you are not in the same situation as I am.

    Arbor One Tree Service
They removed an old tree, leaving some healthy chunks for me to work on for woodworking projects. They removed and ground the roots. They planted a new tree and were very careful to work with us on placement. They then brought in their own mulch and mulched the area. Most importantly, they helped us with the research to find the right tree that we could afford.

    Worcester Tree & Stump
The guys name is Paul, and he is excellent. I've been using them for several years. They're reasonable, and they do an excellent job. They're very much in demand. Actually, they did a small job; they've done large jobs before. They took down a tree that I had that was over 100 feet tall and over 100 years old. It took them two days to do it. They did an awesome job. They clean up beautifully. I have a large hundred plus year old European beach, he trims it all the time he comes by and checks so that's doing well. He is awesome. He's very reasonable. Based on what the job is he says, I have this date available is that okay? I've been using them for years.

    GTL Forest Products
When my neighbor told me about the wire and then I saw it myself, I walked up the street to talk to GTL. They had two trucks on site, one giant white one that housed heavy cutting equipment and another dump truck with their logo and number on the side. I spoke to one man who was reasonably courteous and said he would have the other man, who was operating the heavy equipment at the moment, call me in "a few minutes." He took my name and number. Two hours later, no call; then their trucks were leaving. I ran outside and caught the attention of the second man who was driving the larger truck. He told me they tied the wire up so cars could get through and there was nothing else he could do, and he drove away. After a few minutes, I called GTL's business number to give them one more chance. At my repeated insistence that it wasn't okay for their truck to tear a wire off my house and leave it dangling, he (I think the same man whod been driving the truck) said he'd call the cable company. I was pleasantly surprised when the Charter truck arrived about an hour later (props to Charter - at least they were very helpful!). Charter had to run a new cable since it had been damaged, and also because GTL had tied it to the electric wires which is dangerous and not to code. The only redeeming element for GTL was, after my third time contacting them, they actually called Charter. I shouldn't have had to chase them down at all, they shouldn't have tied the torn wire to an electric line, and they probably could have avoided tearing the wire off my house if they'd been more cautious. Use caution if you have to deal with this company or better yet, avoid them!

    STEVE'S SUPER SAVE TREE SVC
Terrible, worst contractor experience ever, read the texts i posted under his google review He challenged me to meet him somewhere. I paid him in full for job in march. Stopped talking to him on the phone because he wants to challenge you and act like a tough guy and act like he doesnt need to finish the job because his prices are cheap. No communication, completely unprofessional. Honestly hard to believe he is capable of running his own business, I am guessing he has no choice because he has a terrible business model.I attached a text conversation we had on google, Absolutely rude. Lucky he inherited this business from his father.

    Top Notch Tree
Russ, the owner, responded quickly to come and give me an estimate. The estimate was very reasonable for the work being done. He came within a few days with a nice crew of two hard working, polite men, who did the work efficiently and put all the debris through a chipper. They then raked the yard clean. I was very impressed with the high level of customer service and work ethic.

    Arbor One Tree Service
Marcy came to our home twice to prepare an estimate for us and for our neighbors.  I did not want an idiot with a chainsaw and was delighted and reassured to know that all their team members are certified arborists.  I appreciated her knowledge and expertise.  She took the time teach me a few things we could do so our trees would thrive.  Marcy then explained the best way to trim trees planted very close to the house that would both keep our roof in tact (and on top of the house) and keep the trees healthy and looking good.  We also discussed a plan for removing tree stumps in the yard from trees which had been cut down incorrectly in the past.
I loved Marcy's quirky sense of humor and felt that she would be a part of the team of experts we would hire to keep our home safe and looking great.  If you are working with a contractor, it helps if your sense of humor works together especially if yours is a bit quirky.
The office responded immediately after I contacted them through Angie's List.  We exchanged a few emails, made an appointment and met at the scheduled date and time to walk through our yard and look at our trees.  Marcy was actually there early and had checked out the job before we ever began talking.  She was better prepared to explain the scope of the job and to prep an estimate for us.  We were scared that we would lose our favorite tree and she reassured us that if we worked in cooperation with our neighbors, we could save this incredibly special tree that is important to our whole neighborhood.  Marcy came out the second time to advise our neighbor of the best way to trim his trees to both save ours and to keep his very old trees thriving.
What impressed me the most, was that Marcy and her crew showed up in 20 degree weather.  They took the time and did a very careful set up.  They laid down plywood so as to not damage the lawn and surrounding tree roots when they backed in their bucket truck.  Their team worked in cooperation from set up through tear down and clean up.  I was amazed that they could safely climb trees in snow boots.  They all wore safety equipment including harnesses, helmets and hearing protection.  They spoke amicably and joked with each other throughout the day.  They trusted each other which made for a safer environment.  It seemed obvious that they liked working with each other, which makes for a better team, a safer work site and so they did a better job.  When they left, the job site was neat and tidy; equipment and tools were carefully secured, and there was no debris left behind.  Our trees look beautiful.
While they were there, Marcy took the time to meet with an interested neighbor who now wants Arbor One to do their tree work.  (Considering the very brisk weather, I was impressed that she would do this.)  I would hire them again in a second.  I plan on having them do additional work for us in the future and do the on going maintenance work on our trees.
Did I wish the job cost less?  Yes.  But the price was actually fair, the work was excellent and most importantly they were not idiots with a chainsaws.  I would pay a little more to have better work done in a safer way by friendly people who were certified and knowledgeable.  I definitely recommend Arbor One Tree Service.

    Perrone Landscaping
I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Perrone Landscaping.  The work they performed was in a rental property that I currently live three hours away from.  They went above and beyond to be my eyes and ears on the ground and really got the job done for me.  In the process of having a new roof scheduled, the contractor told me that I needed to have the Forsythia bushes that lined the house trimmed.  Having never done business with Perrone before, I called them after reading other Angie's List reviews.  I asked them about trimming the bushes with a tight timeline (less than two weeks) and they had someone at the property within hours to do an estimate.  The person doing the estimate took pictures and let me know about  some trees hanging over the roof (something the roofing contractor had not advised needed to be trimmed but I had told Perrones about the upcoming roofing job) and in the process  solved a problem I didn't even know I had. They were able to do all of the work within a few days and sent me 'after' pictures for my records.   They were exceptional at communicating both via email and telephone.  I sincerely recommend them!

    Central Mass Landscapes
The large, landscaped lots that surround my rental property have become very overgrown in the last year. Various tenants have, over the years, piled yard waste in the back of the lot to the point of us losing several hundred square feet of previously landscaped space.  Chris spent nearly an hour walking the lots with me as we discussed what could stay and what needed to go, which trees to remove, and the aesthetic rejuvenation of the small front yard which had been torn up in the fall by NStar workers and then decimated again by falling ice dams. He was personable and easygoing. He was able to fit the walk-through into his schedule on very short notice. He provided a detailed estimate in a very timely manner.  And I would love to be able to work with him. Unfortunately, my business partner wanted to provide work for one of her neighbors and I deferred to her desires. I would have definitely hired Chris for the job. I have the utmost confidence in his ability to complete the necessary work in a reasonable amount of time.
