    Caola Locksmith Co.
Dan came as scheduled and on time. He disassembled the entire hardware system, took it back to his truck for inspection and lubrication, and then reinstalled it, operating almost like a new system. He helped me to learn the secrets of disassembly so I could do the planned painting. He realized we might want to match the key for the lock to that for the side door lock, and proceeded to do that work, too. He also offered some tips on how to reduce the drag on door closure caused by the weather stripping and threshold. All in all, a great service experience.

After another locksmith wasn't able to do the job, I went to Alan's Locksmith. Steve quickly overcame problems that had stymied the other locksmith, replacing a transponder chip damaged by the other locksmith. The key and replacement chip were from Midwest Keyless which I bought on eBay. Some Locksmiths won't work with keys that the customer provides. This was not a problem for Alan's. I recommend both Midwest Keyless and Alan's if you need replacement electronic car keys.

The work was urgent for us, and it was done the same day. Phone contact was congenial, helpful, and responsive. Everything went exactly as described. Matt Roberts had an excellent manner in the house. Very competent, knowledgeable, and friendly. Would definitely rehire.

The locksmith turned out great. They were really prompt. It saved us a lot of hassle. My sister dealt with them so I don't recall, but since I had Angie's List I am the one who called and made the arrangements. They were very convenient and just right there. They took care of it.

This provider went out of his way to help me and even offered to help me make a decision on a different provider.

I recently moved and had the locks changed on my old new home. The technician called to advise me he was going to be about 15 minutes late; his estimate was perfect. When he saw the rather hinky job on the deadbolt on my side door, he discussed the pros and cons of changing it and provided viable options. When I casually mentioned that I hoped to eventually get a new/ door, he made some helpful suggestions for that scenario (which did not involve using his company). All in all, I found him to be very courteous, considerate, helpful and professional. I would not hesitate to use this company again or to recommend them.

Technician called at the appointed time that I was told he would call and arrived at the appointment time. He did a great job installing the new deadbolt lock it works great and the door closes perfectly. The older lock works well with it's new key. Both locks have the same key which is handy. Tech cleaned up and was finished in no time.

They are competent, professional and do a good job. The owner is really nice and it is a good local company. They were punctual, knew what they were doing and did not overcharge. I recommend them and will use them again in the future.

It cost $150 for their service. I think it was a reasonable price because they did it the same day. They just made it happen. I think the price was fair since it was sort of short notice and was decent. I have used them in the past as well. They have done very large jobs for me and I was very satisfied with those as well.

This was a very unsatisfactory experience. I called the locksmith number around 4pm on Saturday, May 21, 2011. I was greeted by an answering service, eager to book my business. I asked them how much the locks would cost and I asked specifically if it would be more expensive because it was a Saturday. The operator assured me that the price is the same regardless of the day and that a knob lock was about $20 and a deadbolt was about $35. A few hours went by and the technician called me. He was attending to an emergency call but would be out to my place shortly. I ended up calling the operator back twice to make sure the technician was still coming. The technician finally called me at 10:30pm and wanted to make sure I still wanted him to come. I said yes and he arrived around 11pm. The technician explained the lock options to me and said that a mid-grade lock was about $30 more than the baseline lock and we decided what kind of locks I wanted installed on which door. The technician, James, was fantastic and he did all the work quickly and effectively. He was done in about 30 minutes and we began filling out the paperwork. I had one door knob and three dead bolts changed. Based on what the operator had told me and based on the info I had gotten from James, I estimated that each lock would be around $60 ($240) plus labor. I was shocked when the bill totaled to $685.31. To begin with, there was a $65 Service Call fee that the operator did not tell me about. Second, the deadbolts were all over $80 with the most expensive one being $135. Finally, there was an additional service fee of $45 for re-keying the locks. The only reasonable charge was the labor and that was a mere $45 for half an hour of work at 11pm at night. The operating service for this company mis-represented their rates when I booked them. By the time the work was done I had no choice but to pay their exorbitant price. Having had the exact same locks changed back in January I am shocked by the price difference. Not only did I pay less the first time, but two of the deadbolts were physically drilled and installed and an additional lock (a Charlie bar) was installed on my slider.
