Excavating reviews in Worcester

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Had an issue with a large amount of water pooling in our yard. C. R. Hansen did an excellent job excavating a trench, putting draining piping to get rid of all the excess water. Would definitely hire again.

  • Herb offered an estimation over the phone, but realized our pool & deck removal was larger than a typical pool removal job. He stopped by our house the next day to assess the job more accurately. His quote was very reasonable. One week later, he and his crew completed the job of dismantling deck and pool and hauling it away. It was a big job and Herb stayed right on time and budget. There were very few contractors available who would do this work. Herb Tebo solved a problem for us quickly and efficiently

  • Excellent!! I highly recommend this company. Excellent response and follow through. Very professional. Provided suggestions as to how to make the finished area the best. Showed up on time, completed job in less time than promised -(2 days vs 3 days). Very pleased with Chris and his crew. Krystal was always helpful on the phone and always available when needed.

  • He just completed a septic system for my home cost was $30,000. It was a large system required a lot of extra digging. My rating would be a plus. Comments are Bob is highly professional completely honest. What makes him remarkable is his price is inclusive. He gave me a rough estimate and told me he would stay under 30,000. Despite extra digging some Plumbing work some electrical work all of which was extra he still was under budget by about $100. The difference with Bob of Digin Deep is that's when he's completed you do not get an extra bill at the end for the engineer to come out and redraw any changes that they need to make his prices all inclusive. Many people I have talked to who used other companies found that they were quoted a cheaper price but there were add-ons. If I were to buy another home that needed a septic I would not hesitate in the least to call Bob. Or Digin Deep as the name of the company is called. One other thing is important to know not only is the owner of digging deep reliable highly professional highly trained, but so is his entire staff. That can make a very big difference. In the past I have had very professional men come out give or his quotes. It all sounds great in the beginning. Then the people that show up to work can be totally different. With this company, dig in deep that is not the case everybody on his staff is highly professional.

  • Hired Him to install a water line gave him a $1500 deposit and he disappeared.  He was not licensed, bonded or insured to do the job.

I have brought him to small claims court and he still refuses to give any money back.  He will not respond to any calls, txt or e-mails.  If you want all details please email me raandrade1@gmail.com

  • We found Capstone at the Worcester Home Show and went with them after comparing three estimates. They were in the middle of the price ranges and we felt good about the person who was working with us (Dennis). We were wrong.

The job took more than three times the estimated two weeks, not counting months of follow-up to get things right. When they did the initial demolition, Capstone's people knocked a shingle off the outside of the bathroom window and never fixed it. Subcontractors were traipsing in and out of our house without reasonable notice. Some messed up the work others had done, like the trim installer who massacred the metal finishing cap where the toilet water feed comes out of the wall - it still looks terrible. One subcontractor left our back door ajar all day when we weren't home.

They tried to leave no baseboard trim under the vanity (it stands on 4 legs with the wall visible behind it) and leave a 2-inch gap wide open between the wall and the floor - we had to insist they send the trim installer back to finish it! A spot they cut in the wall outside the bathroom for electrical wiring was only partially patched so there was still a visible hole - we eventually fixed that ourselves.

Capstone left our bathroom a mess, not even cleaning up thick streaks of plaster on the window or the heavy-duty tape they put down to "protect" the floor - it was almost impossible to scrub out. They left a bunch of trash in our backyard for weeks until we demanded they pick it up when a severe storm was forecast and we were afraid the trash would be blown/thrown everywhere! Nothing makes you feel good about a contractor like having an old toilet decorating your yard.

The only "plus" we got out of Capstone's incompetence was they demolished more than they were supposed to, so we got "free" new wall trim and a new baseboard heater cover. Honestly though, I wish I still had the old wall trim because it used to match throughout the house and the stuff they replaced it with is a different style.

There were unresolved issues for an extended period of time after the job was "done" and we had to keep calling and emailing to get follow-through. The light above the sink had been installed far off-center and looked quite foolish - it was fixed long after painting was complete, leaving us with more work. The last time we had to deal with Capstone, the toilet had started wobbling and had to be addressed twice to be set properly - they did send someone since it was within the 1-year warranty but told us they would not stand behind their work if it continued to be an issue.

I would absolutely not hire Capstone again under any circumstances.

  • It went very well.  My employer uses Spera to perform plowing, landscape maintenance and landscape construction services at a small condo project that we own.  I always found Mike to be very responsive in terms of returning calls and completing the work on time and usually within 48 hours (including hardscape).  I asked two landscape contractors to design and bid to replace a 30 year old foundation planting.  This included removing overgrown pachysandra and all plants.  I'm still waiting for the other landscaper to come visit and he did a $6,000 patio project at my home two years ago.  The current work was done by Spera last week.
When I called, Mike was in the spring season and was very busy.  I got an honest assessment of when he could visit to begin the design and in late June the preliminary design was complete.  I wasn't looking for foundation lighting but he recommended it and it came out very nicely.
    I highly recommend Spera.

  • I am happy with him.  It was great.  They did the work on time and did a nice job.  They did everything the way they told me they were going to do it.  It all worked out great.  They finished the work today.  The price was very competitive and it didn't change.  I will recommend them to anybody.
