    First, the service engine light came one, then smoke under the hood, then the car wouldn't start and then the car died at the shop. It turned out to be the crankshaft sensor. Other issues came up but these are things that can be easily fixed. My repairer was very diligent to figure the issue out.

    To be fair they tried over a very, very long time to have it fixed. After four times if they cant fix it they are supposed to give you your money back. They tried four and still won't. It obviously is a defect that cannot be fixed.

    I have been consistently impressed and satisfied over the years with the experience across the board: quality of work, car smarts, friendliness, honesty in cost and time estimates, willingness to counsel against a repair when warranted. Julia has continued the great tradition that her dad started. I am frankly surprised that there aren't more reviews on Angie's, but I suspect that the business thrives by word of mouth among loyal neighborhood customers. That may include many owners of classic cars in the area.

    Everything went well. My transmission died on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Island Auto looked at it on Monday and provided me with options to fix it. I decided to have them purchase a used transmission and install it. Island auto shopped around and called me with a short list of transmissions and info for each (cost, location, miles). When the transmission arrived the Friday after Thanksgiving, they inspected it before they would pay the delivery driver. Once they determined it was a good transmission, they began working on it. I had the car back the Thursday after Thanksgiving.

    I think I went out to my car once and it had a flat tire, and I needed it towed to the nearest place to get the tire, and I think the tow people might have taken me there.  And then I liked them and they were close by, and so I've just gone back to them.

    The one-woman office and small shop are busy (for reasons obvious to me now) and it took several hours to get the estimate & work completed, but everyone seemed cheerful, calm & efficient. I saw 4-5 mechanics at work, each one on a separate car, nobody standing around smoking. I had to wait, but rather than sit in their tiny waiting room I walked around the low-rent neighborhood to find a cup of coffee (with wi-fi) and then a nice restaurant for lunch. Altogether a reassuring experience. I will make this place my go-to-mechanic in future.

    The cost was included as part of the manufacturer's warranty. The cost, once I run out of my warranty, would be a "B". It took about 45 minutes to perform the oil change. The workers were very hospitable, very professional, very informative. They were great. There is nothing that I can think of off the top of my head for them to improve.

    Oh my goodness did they ever do a fabulous job, they did such a great job that the guy who did the work the detailing on my car they cleaned my car now I have a 2004 Subaru Forester and so you could image since 2004 til now and many camping trips what that car is like inside even try to keep ahead of it by myself so when they finished they were so proud of the cleaning job they did on my car that the whole team one to be standing out to watch my reaction and it was worth wild because you to some that anyone that gets in my car is like outside is clearly a 2004 inside is a brand new car. It ended up so clean that everyone was like did you just buy a new car. I got there I waited a couple of hours before they go to me but I was able to use their WI-FI and sit in that room there  it was not a comfortable waiting room I'll have to say. I sat there for a few hours before they got to me that was disappointing but by the time they finished it was worth the wait and clearly their team is very meticulous and takes each car individually so I get why I had to wait because they really take the care they needed to take for each car regardless the time it take but people should know that and not go there expecting oh well I'll be about been there and be bop out. If I am giving a referral to a friend I would say listen go there they do amazing job don't expected it to be done like a fast food restaurant these people are taking real care. Just their dedication to doing a really good job, they know their stuff and they do a great job on it.
