  • Cannot say enough good things about this place! Staff were so kind and understanding. My dog spent 3 nights in the ICU for an arrhythmia that developed after eating a large amount of chocolate. He was evaluated by the cardiologist and monitored around the clock until symptoms resolved. All team members I encountered were absolutely amazing! They were so understanding to my concerns, and kept me updated throughout his stay, even calling me throughout the night (at my request) with changes and updates to his care/treatment plan. They even let me visit and spend time with him each day!

  • More extensive testing showed picked up a bowel obstruction in my dog which was dangerously close to killing him. He had emergency surgery that removed his cecum which contained a Cancerous tumor. The work was $$$ but it was worth it. Once his stitches were out, he is 100% himself. Eating, drinking, playing like nothing happened. On the downside, we has not yet received the final pathology report 2 weeks later (goes to an outside lab).

  • Shannon is amazing! I have regular 9-5 hours but my boyfriend picks up shifts very last minute so it can be very difficult to schedule a dog walker for our Peanut. Shannon is so great about working with our schedule and has never let us down. She is very sweet and even brings Summer along for her walks with Peanut sometimes. I really don't know what I would do without her.

  • Dr. Kennedy is extremely caring, patient, and sets a warm, comforting tone for both out lovable Jack Russel and for his parents. He explains everything in easy to understand terms and always encourages questions. And we ask them! He cares about our dog and it is obvious when Kelsey is there and when she's at home. He follows up every visit (even the routine ear infection) with a phone call to us. Dr. Chavez treated Kelsey initially and demonstrated the same warm and professional attitude. In addition, the clinic's staff (Sara and Ashley) are similarly sweet and helpful and show the same love to our pet. The office is clean and fresh smelling. I recommend Winchester Animal Clinic to anyone looking for quality vet care. And if they don't know the answer or are unsure, they always suggest we consult with the Woburn Vet Hospital. They collaborate with this wonderful site as well. You couldn't ask for anything more.

  • TBF, I have dogs.  More than 3 and I am super tough on vets.  I LOVE Dr. Kim and his staff!  We've been going there for about 6 years now and every encounter has been great.  All of my dogs love him, he is an amazing diagnostician, and doesn't feel the crazy need many vets do to play on your emotions to weasel money from your pocket.  He knows that we love our animals and want to do what's best for them and manages to do this by providing excellent care without running tests that aren't necessary.  If it's needed, he says it and I trust him.  If he says it isn't, I believe him.  It's wonderful to have someone I can trust that way with my fur babies.  I highly recommend him.

  • When we moved from Arlington to Woburn, we needed to find a new vet for our ferret (we had been going to Angell Memorial, but now it is too far). It is difficult to find vets with solid ferret experience and knowledge of the latest developments in ferret care, as the state of ferret veterinary care has changed a lot over the last 5-10 years. I contacted VCA Wakefield via their online contact form to ask about their vets' experience with ferrets. Not only did I get a prompt reply back, but one of the vets, Dr. Siperstein, called me to discuss some concerns I had about treatments my ferret had been receiving from Angell that VCA Wakefield did not currently offer. The fact that Dr. Sip was willing to take time for a lengthy conversation with an owner who wasn't even a client yet impressed me as much as her knowledge of ferret medical care. I went there initially to have my ferret's itchy ears checked out (yeast infection, as it turned out) but will be very happy to go there for all my future veterinary care. I have been back for a few visits, and have had a prescription filled at their pharmacy for a price lower than I would have gotten at a regular pharmacy.
I have also been impressed with the front desk staff and the waiting area layout. Although the waiting area is not large, they have divided it into dog/cat/bird and exotics waiting areas to minimize stress on the animals, and there's a sort of airlock system of doors by which you enter and exit the building to prevent pets from escaping. As far as overall costs go, the veterinary care for ferrets, as exotics, is always more expensive than that for cats or dogs, but their prices compare very favorably to other vet care I've received in the Boston area. Prices are also clearly posted in the exam rooms, which is not something I've seen in other places. All in all, this is a thoughtful practice that clearly cares a lot about its clientele, and I'm very glad to have found them.

  • I had to check online for a veterinarian who also practices as an animal opthamologist.  My regular vet thought my kitty might have glaucoma, a rare but devastating disease for cats if not treated.  After seeing what was online about glaucoma in cats I searched for and found VCA City Cats Hospital in Arlington.  It is the only place I could find in my area that had a certified veterinarian opthamologist.  I made the appointment and saw Dr. Willis.  She truly is an amazing vet.  She carefully examined my kitty and discovered that she did not have glaucoma, but had Horner's Syndrome; a symptom and condition that often presents due to the nerves affecting the eye being damaged or not functioning properly when there is a fairly severe infection in the ears - particularly the inner or middle ear.  I was very relieved to find out it was not Glaucoma!  Dr. Willis was very, very thorough in her examination and we got a history of my kitty while she was doing the exam.  They also did a blood test to see if there is anything else going on, as this kitty is elderly (15 years old) despite her spry attitude.  This visit was well worth the money spent as I left there not only knowing my kitty would be okay, but that I was confident everything that could have been done to make sure the diagnosis was correct, was done!  I also brought my kitty back for a follow-up five weeks later on 8/1/13.  I'm happy to report that the ear infection is gone, the Horner's Syndrome has resolved (if not severe, it usually resolves itself within 16 weeks) and we are now just watching her to make sure the infection doesn't come back and will be bringing her back in three months for one final checkup.

  • Nancy is diligent and fantastic. She takes care of my dogs for a mid-day stretch and comes back in the evening if I am out at late night activity. She also takes care of my cats when I am away.

Nancy is thoughtful and caring and takes fantastic care of all my "children."

  • Cat hurt her paw so I took her there. After a short wait the vet saw her and told me that they were going to do an x-ray. It was done and vet explained that it was not broken but sprained. No treatment needed.

  • Mike is a great trainer and knows how to help people understand their own situations with their animals.  He was excellent at working with the animals and would always ask the class if anybody had any questions or issues or changes in animal behavior between now and the last class.  I was really impressed with his level of knowledge and we will definitely be using Mike and K-9 East again.
Do - use K-9 East for dog obedience training.  It wlil cost you more than a Petsmart course, but it is very much more worth it!
