    MMS Construction
Great! I wanted to install Jacuzzi tub with heater, wall tiles, flooring, vanity and toilet. The jacuzzi and the wall tiles were challenging so most contractors turned down, and, some asked for exorbitant price. Mel from MMS construction accepted the job at a reasonable price and completed successfully. It took couple of more days than actually promised, and the wall tiles aren't 100% perfect but the job was completed to my satisfaction. I highly recommend this contractor.

    VF Construction Inc
The owner takes pride in his work and stands by every job. His workmanship is excellent and prices fair for the type of work he does. I would highly recommend VF Construction for any home improvement project -- large or small.

    POST WOODWORKING INC
The process went extremely well from the start to finish. I had hired quite a few contractors in the past and by far Post Woodworking is one of the few excellent companies that I had encountered. This company must be a well-run outfit. I didn't know anything about this company when I picked it from Angie's list but I am glad that I went with them.
The process with Post Woodworking was easy from the get-go. Their office handled the steps of answering questions over the phone, reviewing email pictures of the damages, quoting a price and scheduling the work promptly and professionally. This repair was a small $ project for them and quite often other contractors would give cold-shoulders to small projects. However, that wasn't the case at all with this company. As a matter of fact, a few days prior to the appointment, an office person called me to confirm the appointment and also told me the exact time when they would be showing up so that I didn't have to wait all day at home. I also received a proper receipt in the email after the job was done.
Two persons arrived that morning on time. They worked efficiently, didn't waste any time. From the way they worked together, you could tell that they really know how to put sheds together. The two of them were quite a team. They also did a careful job cleaning up the site afterward. This company is quite impressive!

    Gunars Zandbergs & Sons
Gunars does about thing you might need other than technical (like electric or plumbing) around or in the house.
Big to small, he does it all. Business procedure are a bit informal (handwritten invoices).

    PONDEROSA PINES WOOD PRODUCTS
Owner came to survey and make a contract.  Went for sided shed to minimize maintenance.  More or less on schedule
crew of two arrived and after 3 workdays finished shed. But corner posts, window and door borders and some of gambrel roof were exposed wood which I had to have covered in aluminum at extra expense of $1450. Possibly a misunderstanding of what would be in vinyl. Still not sure what to do with large amount of leftover wood.

    Carollo Construction
I used to call my house Little House on the Prairie and had just about given up on the idea of having an updated and/or renovated kitchen (with a dishwasher) while I was raising my kids as a single mom.  However, the snow of 2011 did enough damage to my home to allow for an insurance settlement to cover the cost of a kitchen renovation as a result of water going into all of the walls and all ceilings, cabinets and floors needing to be replaced.

I hired Carollo Construction s because they had already put in an amazing walk in closet that looks like it has always been part of my bedroom.  Steve Carollo does quality work at a more than reasonable price.  In fact, when the work is said and done you realize you got much much more than what you paid for.  Steve takes pride in his work and strives to exceed (not just meet) your expectations.   In fact, Steve Carollo takes great care to map out the project and talk through the entire budget and expense plan in advance and goes over and above to make sure you have all the information (and options) that you need.  He  is well versed in understanding the places where the budget can be saved and other places it can be better used for the best bang for the buck.  Steve is also able to help you save money with many common decisions that can result in spending too much money.

Steve brings in all of his own sub contractors who are people that are as reliable as he is and who he has clearly built a mutually trusting relationship with over many years.  The people that Steve brings on to the job also do quality and timely work.  The reason why Steve can get a project done on schedule is because he and the people he works with keep their commitments, do the job right the first time and work really well together.

Every time I walk into my fancy walk in closet or hang out in my new kitchen I do so with great appreciation for how these projects enhanced my life without taking anything away or adding any stress.

    TONY GENTILE CONSTRUCTION
I was so disappointed with my experience with Tony. After reading all of the responses I thought for sure I had found the right person for my extensive list of jobs. Tony was ok to deal with in some respects. His wife helps with scheduling and after waiting for him to return from a vacation we were able to make a date to meet. But once meeting him my wife and I were very disappointed with our overall discussions. He seemed to be caught up in trying to prove that he would do a thougough job which of course we were happy to hear but then started explaining how he had been to a seminar and that new laws governed that he would have to make extensive preperations "by law" before he could begin work. We had 3 other contractors in who never said anything about new laws but we went along with what he was saying. According to him this only applied to work that was older than a certain date. We explained that the areas he would be working on were on a 10 year old addition and would not fall under this time limit. He didn't seem to grasp that and mentioned the new law over and over. I appreciate that he spent nearly an hour looking at our very extensive list of fixes we needed around the house but in the end felt that he wasted both of our times. For one thing he was very opinionated on many things which of course makes sense but we noticed he went on about what he thought was the cause of a problem and stopped listening to us. We tried explaining that we had a few other contractors in and we were going to get a structural engineer in to look at some issues but he seemed to have just made up his mind what was going on and didn't want our input. At one point my wife walked away feeling that there was no use any more trying to explain the situation to him - he wasn't going to listen. Even with all of this I thought it still made sense to let him choose a few projects that he was sure he could handle and wanted to do and try him out. Like I said we have so many diff problems thru out the house having a reliable contractor located in the next town over would have been a great relationship to have. Also my wife rehabs homes, mostly cosmetic but she's always in need of a good contractor. She brought this up to him but he didn't seem interested. We left it by saying we would investigate some things with a structural engineer but that Tony said he would do two projects for us, sill work on a corner support and rebuild around the front door where we had some rot get past the fascia. He said he would call us to set up times to do those two things and then follow up on other things once we got more input. Here we are 3 weeks later and we've never heard from him or his wife. Unfortunately for us it was a complete waste of our time. We wasted weeks waiting on him. If he had just been upfront with us and told us he wasn't interested instead of saying he was going to do the job in the first place we could have moved on - which is what I suggest to you.

    Allen Construction Co Inc
We conducted a fairly structured RFP process to select a contractor. We included five contractors, including Chris Allen. Chris had worked extensively with our architect, Shelly Zeigleman (now living in Paris, France but previously of Winchester, Ma), and she had recommended him highly. Chris's bid was in the middle, however, he distinguished himself in several ways. First, his proposal included great detail on how he intended to perform the job. Second, it was clear that he would be very hands on and present during the entire project (after all, he's an excellent carpenter). Third, it was clear that he cared as much about the quality of the job as I did. This last point manifest itself through the duration of the job. Chris stressed over the quality and detail at least as much as I did and really cared about the finished product. Chris and I were in touch on a daily basis, often through text messaging. I cannot recall him taking more than 12 hours to respond to a request or a question, and in general, he responded in less than 5 minutes through SMS or by phone. He was always extremely sensitive to the needs of my family, including my young kids, and they really grew to like him and his team a lot. Chris's subs are excellent - they all demonstrated the same work ethic and quality. Chris does not advertising - but he doesn't need to because the quality of his work sells his product.

    Guild Construction Co
The quality of the work by Scott and his crew is excellent--we had over 30 replacement windows and doors installed in our home and we were amazed how quickly and efficiently everything was completed. All of the work was completed beautifully--on time and on budget. We are looking forward to using Guild Construction for future projects.
