Appliance Repair reviews in Winchester

  • The oven in our Jenn Air stove failed to remain on to complete cooking. Web sites recommended replacing the oven "igniter." I did this myself and it didn't solve the problem. I called Al's Appliance Repair. Al came a day or so later, tested the oven, and decided the oven electronic control board needed replacement. He also decided to replace the oven burner pipe but that part turned out to be unobtainable. A few days later he returned with an assistant to replace the board. After replacing the board the oven returned to normal operation, which included an uneven flame on the burner pipe for which no replacement was available. (It may have been acting like that for years but the oven works and baking is as good as ever.) I have to add that replacing the control board was a very long story due to a VERY large number of screws holding the front panel in place. Over and over again when that panel "should" come off there turned out to be still more screws holding it in place! It must have kept Al with us for much too long with his other customers waiting. Oh, and that control board was costly!

  • He was in the area and stopped by the house within one hour of my first call. He quickly discovered the problem and got us up and running with another relay. He said he would need to order the exact part for our unit and it would be a few days but the relay installed would work until then. He came back a few days later, finished the job and I could not be happier.

  • Aweful. Five years ago, he came to repair gas burners on our stove that were not lighting. While he fixed the igniter, the very next day flames were shooting out of the bottom of the burners because of a failure to properly seal the connections. We thought the stove was going to explode. We had to have someone else come and fix his "repair" as we no longer trusted him. I never planned on hiring him again, but just last week but my wife forgot this past episode and had him back again to find our refrigerator's water leak. While he never found the leak, told us something else in the refrigerator was failing instead, said we needed to replace the $8,000 built in refrigerator/freezer, and charged us $150. So we hired for him to find and fix a water leak, of which he did neither, and he still billed us?!? So we were out $150, and no further ahead from when he stepped through the door. We since had "Same Day Service" in to check the same water leak, and within 15 min they identified its source and fixed it and now is working like a dream. So we didnt need to replace our $8,000 refrigerator after all as Sherman was claiming. Then, when Sherman saw the negative review above in Angie's List, he called my home at 7:00 am, angry as a hornet about how I was trying to "ruin his business" and was yelling the "F bomb" every 5th word, so I hung up on him! However when you read his response below, he is lying about the series of events making it sound like the gas leak just happened and trying to come across as such a caring gentlemen. I wish I could post an audio recording of him yelling at me, constantly throwing the F bomb. Beware, is a liar, a poor repairman, and appears to be mentally unstable. He might do a good job for you, but why take the risk when there are others that are so much better, like Same Day Service

  • The technician arrived promptly, was very pleasant, and quickly identified the problem. He did not have the part on hand but called later that day with the cost of the part and labor. We ultimately did not have the stove repaired for unrelated reasons.

  • Very dissatisfied with the overall experience this around with Marc. We had used him first when he had repaired our dishwasher and I was very pleased with his service so we called him again. 1) In the first technical service session, Marc told me the technical labor cost will be $200 to repair the microwave and then fitting it back into the wall. However, in the final bill he charged me $228 + $3 tax and when I questioned him, his response was if I did not want to pay the remaining he would take the part back from the microwave. This is the way they speak to their customers. Paying the extra 28 was not big deal if he had given me a reasonable explanation; however, his tone and his response were very offending. 2) Marc did not give me the original receipt of the part that was replaced in my microwave, so I don’t know what was the actual cost of the part replaced.

  • Everything went smoothly over two days after the stove was delivered and they even removed my old electric stove when the work was completed. When we first purchased the stove I contacted Sergio via e-mail to notify him of when it would be delivered.  He then scheduled both his plumber and electrician around a day after the scheduled delievery date.  Sergio was always available via phone or e-mail/texting to let me know when to be at the house to let the workers in.

  • We have a vintage and somewhat rare gas stove.  I contacted Marc as he indicated he worked with all makes and models.  To my surprise, he immediately knew about my type of stove and had, in fact, serviced the brand before (he also knew many other facts including who had worked on the stove before by simply knowing the town we lived in).  We were able to make an appointment with him in short order.  When he came out -- he quickly diagnosed the issue and fixed it on the spot.  The stove has worked great ever since.  We were very pleased with Marc's extensive knowledge, the service, and the quick response.  We will definitely turn to Marc again in the future.

  • One of the burners on our Jenn-Air stove had trouble lighting because the high-voltage spark igniter was arcing unpredictably from the ceramic insulator to the adjacent metal surface rather than from the metal tip into the gas flow needed to light the small simmer burner.
Two servicemen, father and son, arrived when scheduled.  Although I had given the company operator the both the model number of our stove and the needed part number, the servicemen had never been given this information and did not have the needed part.  (I know the operator had at least the correct model number because she looked it up and confirmed that it properly identified our stove.)
The servicemen called their office and confirmed they had the needed part in stock and promised to return three days later to complete the job.  They also promised to take care of the rusted and frozen screws that made the repair temporarily impossible.
On the day of the second appointment they called me and said they didn?t have the part after all, as the staff in the office had assumed all four igniters on our stove were identical.  The failing igniter differed from the other three, so yet another appointment was needed.
On the third appointment the duo attacked the nasty problem of the rusted mounting screws; our stove was obviously much older than it had first appeared.  It became necessary to drill out both the burner mounting screws and the equally rusted screw that held the failing igniter in place.  This last step was particularly annoying as the burner had two hollow tubes reaching
down underneath to carry the gas from the manifold up into the burner heads (simmer and main).  The tubes interfered with the proper angle for the drill.  The annoying difficulties made what should have been a ten minute job take a lot longer but I was impressed by the professionalism and resilience of those two in the face of the problems.  Finally screws from their miscellaneous collection were used to put everything including the new part back together into the enlarged screw holes and the burner was returned to normal operation.

  • Bill and I spoke the day before and set up a time and he called the day of service to tell me his exact time of arrival. He looked at many parts of the dryer and within a half an hour found the problem. He took another 15 minutes to put everything back together and swept up the area. He was knowledgeable and did the job well. I am happy to report that my dryer is now making up for lost time. I would call Bill for future work.

  • The work went great.  Mike and his team came in and punched through the honey list in two days.  He came back and fixed a minor problem with his work quickly and without complaint.  MIke was great at communicating his work plan and finalizing all work.  I'll definitely hire him again.
