    KBC Construction Inc
We hired KBC Construction for a kitchen renovation project. They took our old deck down and added a new extension of about 100 sq. feet. They did the excavation and installed sonar tubes for the foundation, built the frame, roof, wall, siding, new windows, deck, flooring, cabinet installation, painting, door installation, and among many things. They also replaced our old wood laminate floor with a wood floor, and they took the time to find the wood floor that matched perfectly with the living room flooring even though Lowes was out of stock. We found Kevin to be very easy to work, friendly, flexible and did a few things that we added later on. He paid attention to details and gave good recommendations about our options when we asked. They would clean up after each shift, which is a bonus! Their price was very reasonable compared with the other estimates we got. High quality work, and definitely went the extra mile for us, and we highly recommend them.

    Newhouse & Sun Construction
Ended up not using Dave for the work due to miscommunication and not reviewing the quote until after I awarded the job to a contractor I have done work with in the past. However, I wanted to write a review as he was was very professional and his quote for the work was extremely competitive. Had I not went with the other contractor, he would have gotten the job.

    Custom Design Sunrooms
Did not go with custom design. The owner of the company hired a surveyor that produced an incorrect survey. Wrong measurements. The owner then took the bogus survey to the Town to get a building permit without telling us. He also did not compare his survey to our survey that was done in 2010 for an inground pool. His survey was incorrect and showed our pool in violation by being too close to the lot line. The Town building inspector issued the building permit but noticed the discrepency in surveys. The Town threatened to have us fill in our pool due to the new bogus survey measurements. To add insult to injury the owner of custom designs accused us of changing our original survey. Who the **** does that? We saw the owners survey upon request and saw the owner's surveyor made a huge mistake. So the owner now knows his guy screwed up but refuses to give us deposit back after we said we didn't want to do the project with him. We gave him a refundable 1,000 deposit. The owner was refunded the money from the Town for the building permit, He won't give us our deposit because he says we owe him for his time and the bogus survey. When the owner realized his survey wrong he said he would just change the #s on it to be correct, is he ok in head? That is the exact thing he accused us of. He either has dimentia or he is just a crook that does shotty work.

    Bagley Builders
Bagley was the second contractor that I had met with for my project.   The project consisted included the decking floor, all rails, stairs, reinforcements of joists and posts.  Rob provided the initial assessment - he was prompt, knowledgable and provide options for me to consider.  The standout item separating the two contractors was Rob offered solutions to eliminate seams within the deck - by applying a pretty border.  He also provided vendors/ locations for me to see samples and pick product that I would love years to come.  (I love options).
Scott, the other partner and his crew arrived as planned.   They were extremely professional, quiet and focused on details. They completed in a timely manner and left the place clean.  There were a couple of problem areas with my deck that were brought to my attention and I was given a clear overview of the issues and options to rectify the areas in question.  E.G.  one of the posts was suspended cause the deck to sag.    The end product is beautiful and I will love for years to come - happy with my product selections.  Scott and Scotty were top notch in their skills.
Overall the cost of the second contractor was more expensive but that no doubt was due to my ability to pick the newest, most expensive product!!  For those looking to improve your home, you should consider Bagley Builders.  When making your choice do it the way you want it done - don't skimp on the details.  They really do matter.

    Victory Construction
I almost don't want to write reviews for Victory Construction because I want to keep them for myself!
We've used Victory in the past and have been happy with their work.  We recently decided to paint the hallway in our house, which extends from the basement through to the second floor.  The hallway is tricky, with lots of corners and very tall walls/ceiling on the top floor.  We asked for a quote for this and for some work on our kitchen, and the guys came out soon thereafter.  We got the estimate and asked them when they start the work, and they were in the next Monday, and done by midday Tuesday.
Victory is punctual and reliable - they do what they say they will do when they say they will do it, and they are super nice and professional to boot. What more could I ask for?

    Victory Construction
From the very beginning, Victory was extremely responsive and quick to get back to us with information and an appointment to get a quote.  We decided to go with them, and they were able to start the job a week early.
They fixed a window that was improperly installed by the previous owners and fixed the rot damage caused by this.  They also pointed out some carpenter ant damage and worked with our pest control guy to spray before putting the siding on.
The only small issue was that at some point one of the GFI plugs got tripped, and unfortunately this shut off the plug to our chest freezer in our garage.  We lost everything in there, but Katie went above and beyond: she knew we were away for the weekend, so she asked if we needed her to do anything about it for us.  She also sent an electrician over to take a look in case anything was broken since we couldn't figure out what had happened as none of the breakers were tripped (turns out the GFI was in our 3rd floor bathroom... which was the same circuit as the plug in the garage? We're continuing to find out new and wonderful decisions the previous owners made).  They took the cost of the contents of the freezer off our bill, so we're very satisfied with how this was resolved.
The roof and siding looks absolutely stunning.  We're really pleased with the work done.  We are thinking about getting our porch rebuilt in the spring, and we would absolutely hire Victory for this work.

    McNeil Builders General Contractors LLC
We were referred to McNeil Builders and hired them in October 2012. There was considerable miscommunication and dealing with the office manager (his wife) was very challenging. We hired them for a porch remodel, electric update, plumbing repairs, and to repair a broken window which houses the exhaust from our propane dryer. We also originally requested a kitchen remodel estimate and repairs to our bathroom and laundry room.
Window: The window/exhaust exposed the home to the elements, and provided access to pipes and our basement through a crawl space. He warned us we should address it as soon as possible, but heard nothing as the temperature about it as the temperature got colder. Finally, as temperatures dropped, we insisted that they address the window, prompting them to come in mid-December and board it up. When it was finally repaired in late Dec 2012 (they said the window took many weeks to arrive) the worker who repaired it said that boarding it up may have been dangerous because we have a propane dryer.
Porch: They started work on our porch remodel in January. Michael McNeil advised us to update the porch rather than completely remodel, and we took his advice. The workers were prompt and punctual, but as the work continued, we had to keep reminding Michael of the things we wanted (recessed lights in the porch ceiling, etc). He and the office manager argued with us that we had never asked for them until I produced an email about it, and his office manager subsequently found notes with the quote in our file. When the porch work was proceeding, it became clear that the extent of the update v. remodel was not sufficient and we added additional work. When the porch was finished, the boards were laid tight in several spots and in others had 1/2 to 3/4 inch gaps between them. When we expressed concern about the appearance on February 15, Michael told us we 'nickel and dimed' him, and called my wife a b**** on the phone. We finally called the Better Business Bureau and were advised to communicate a specific deadline for the work to be done (March 24) and failing that, to write a Chapter 93A demand letter. They returned to repair the boards (March 25) under our warranty.
Plumbing: They drained our radiators for us (our concern was non-working radiators in some rooms) and did a fine job but it did not solve the problem. They repaired the toilets but had to return to repair them/replace parts after the original work.
Commendations: punctual, reasonably priced. the electrician that works with them did an excellent job on the recessed lights and was extremely professional and helpful. Michael is very knowledgeable.
Concerns: unprofessional, inappropriate/poor communication, mediocre and sloppy work. We originally planned to do a kitchen/bath remodel as well but as time went on and our concerns grew we decided not to rehire them.

    MasonWorks LLC
Jeff called me within an hour of my inital contact through Angie's List.  That was the kind of response we got throughout the process with Jeff.  He met me at our house to listen to what I was looking to do and offered great suggestions to help me flesh out my ideas.  He was very responsive in all aspects through bid and and build, including subsequent meetings with both my husband and my landscape designer.  His team is professional, courteous and CLEAN!  They work their butts off and the do excellent work.  The masonry work is beautiful and the carpentry is solid.  They take their time to make sure that everything is done the "right" way and don't cut any corners.  They communicate throughout the process and make it clear that they want you to be happy with the end result.  Well, we couldn't be happier with the work Jeff and his team did for us.  In fact, we can't wait for him to come back in the spring to transform our front walkway!

    Langone Brothers Landscaping
The previous year we used another company to fix our lawn and in a nutshell, they did a poor job. Then Matt Langone came over in March of 2011 and gave us a plan of how to get the lawn we wanted. His team was top notch and they did a number of things including (1) new lawn installation, (2) fixed/updated our sprinkler system, (3) built a new deck with composite materials, (4) redesign of our mulch bed in the front of our house with new plantings and (5) a new shed.
Their price was excellent and they guaranteed their work. When some of the plantings they did dried up an died, they came over and replaced them.We also used them in the fall for leaf clean up and they did a wonderful job. We are  using them again this year to maintain our lawn!
