    The Superior Chimney Sweep Co
This a great company! We were never pressured to have the work done by them. All options were suggested including what would happen if we did nothing. The work was sterling, the professionals were, well, professional. Pictures of the before and after were provided. We have an exceptionally tall chimney so unfortunately our quote was not cheap but then neither was the job they provided! We are very happy with the heat shield and are looking forward to safe and cozy fires this winter. I highly recommend this company and will be using them to clean in the future

    Vista Home Improvement
    1) I hired them to help a relative's new roof and gutters. Overall, the job was done and it appeared to be satisfactory. Also, my relative had their chimney redone based on the recommendation of Vista. However, the entire process didn't go as smoothly as you would think. Issue with awful flashing they put around the brand new chimney they put in next to a brand new roof. It stuck out like a sore thumb. They fixed it after some convincing, though. Issue with some gutters that were installed. They fixed it. Further issue with the gutter "spongy" guards that were installed in the gutters due to the nature of them suddenly sprouting branches that never ever sprouted in the gutters in the past. I think it is the nature of the gutter guards but they should have been mentioned ahead of time. However, after some convincing and back and forth about this last issue, they final came up with a compromise that was accepted. But it took forever it seemed for them to finish the repair on this last issue. In fact, I had to call a few times at least asking when it would be done. Yes, the person that I talked to appeared to be nice, but that doesn't cut it after a while of no results. So,  yes, finally this last issue was done - they replaced the spongy gutter guards in one section only with the normal top gutter guards. I mentioned to them again to please send me a final paper documenting about this replacement, and they said they would. That paper never came.
    2) Also, during the time of the quote process for my relatives roof and gutter project, before any work began for them, I also asked for them to come by my house to provide quotes on a list of projects that I needed for my home improvement. After all, their name says "Home Improvement" in it.
This was the correspondence with them via email:
Mar 24, 2014: "On 3/19 last week, I called and left a message for Vista for an estimate at my home on several projects. I also left them another message yesterday. I did not receive a call back."
Mar 24, 2014: they replied: "Hmm. That?s very unusual. The office is not open on Sunday, maybe there is an issue with our messaging system.  In any event, I can set up a time with you directly to come take a look.  Is there a day/time later in the week that would work best for you?  I have Thur. & Fri. open at this point."
Mar 24, 2014: I replied back to them with my available times for the appointment and my address.
Mar 24, 2014: They replied back to me with an appointment time for that coming Friday, Mar 28th .
Mar 28, 2014: I was at my relatives house for their appointment earlier and the Vista rep said to me that it wasn't necessary to drive to my house for the appointment they set up with me, but they just wanted to review one of the projects with me while at my relatives house (instead of driving over). I found that to be very odd and not very professional. But at the time I dismissed it (I should have gone with my gut feeling anyways) and still tried to work with them.
Apr 1, 2014: Then they suddenly emailed me saying: "I went over (to my house) to work with Brian and at this point in time we wouldn?t have the resources to do all of the various things you need done.  The re-decking is the only thing we?d be able to provide an estimate for as it?s within the scope of our normal product range. If you?d like to have us set up a time to look at that let me know.  I can understand if you?re looking for one contractor to handle the entire project.   Thanks again for thinking of us, and let me know how you?d like to proceed."
Apr 1, 2014: All I wrote back was: "Thank you for your update. I will keep it in mind about the decking to set up an appointment for a quote in the near future."
But now that I have thought about this further, their title says "Home Improvement". So they can't take on home improvement projects? It now appears they were not being accommodating on purpose. I felt that I was being dismissed and no consideration was given to any of my projects, which we didn't even go into detail yet.
But yet my relative already signed on with them for the roof and gutters at that house.

UPDATE? REPLY IN RESPONSE TO VISTA'S COMMENT BELOW:
My review is not confusing, but it is accurate. Regarding the gutter sponge filtration insert, these types of inserts do generate seeds (later to be found out by me doing an online search). Your reply information is inaccurate actually. There wasn't one flower that grew out of the spongy gutter insert. It wasn't even a flower. It was about 4-5 tree sprouts that grew out of the spongy inserts in one section only. Never have any type of plants sprouted out of the gutters in the past. And in your response about it being from birds nests, if you reviewed your information correctly, the previous birds nests were found on the other side of the house (by the driveway).

I have to say that you are outright lying about a quote I received for the deck. I copied above the actual correspondence that took place about my projects and there was never a quote provided for the re-deck. That is entirely inaccurate information you are indicating in your reply. And this sentence: "There were items that we do not do so we let the customer know that.". I am glad that you let customers know that, but really the projects that I had were in line with what many "Home Improvement" companies would do. Maybe you should retitle your company's name to "Vista Roofing, Gutters, Siding and Decking Home Improvement".

And I didn't say the entire experience working with you was bad working with your company initially, but when a company states inaccurate data to a customer or dismisses a review as "confusing", I find that inappropriate.  Also, there were a few follow-ups from your company that were delayed previous. And finally, I did not received the final documentation that I requested several times previously.

After their unacceptable reply, I have changed my score from C (fair) to D (bad).

ROLANDINI BROTHERS West Side Masonry &Chimney Co.

Called asked for an estimate on 08/07/2014 and Chris called back in AM 08/08/2014. Came by and provided estimate at which point I decided to have the work done my Chris (impressed with his professionalism and easy manner). Scheduled work start 08/11/2014.

08/11/2014 - Crew showed up at 10AM and began work. Asked Chris how long it would take, was told a day and a half. Kept work area clear of debris.

08/12/2014 - Chris and one other crewman showed this morning at 10AM. They finished the work and chimney looks great!!

At first I thought it was somewhat expensive, BUT now that the work is complete, I am very happy and cost is a secondary concern.

A fine job and I would definitely recommend him to others.

Person who came was more than pleasant, punctual, professional and explained exactly what was to be done prior to each step.  He cleaned the chimney and did the repairs and left my living room in mint condition.   What more could one ask for?  If I were to own a home with a chimney again, I would not hesitate to call upon The Superior Chimney Sweep.

    ACE CHIMNEY SWEEPS
These guys were great! The first chimney I showed them, Matt (son of the owner, I believe) told me that he'd be robbing me if he charged me to clean the chimney. He then showed me the chimney and how clean it was. So, his honesty saved me $80 (because it was $130 for the one chimney clean and then $80 for the additional). When he cleaned my other chimney, they removed dead squirrels and debris quickly and cleanly. They also installed a more cost efficient chimney cap that covered all three flues. They even patched some nail holes and some gap holes for me for an extra $50 while they were already up on the roof. They were professional, speedy, kind and honest. Very happy with them and would definitely recommend. I will also have them clean my chimney again in the future!

He torqued all the fittings, added more of the charcoal looking stuff below the fake log bed, and gave me great instructions on how to clean the glass front, with appropriate warnings, and what to clean with.

In ten years and two houses, I did not know the inside should be cleaned monthly.  I'm grateful.  Apparently, glass front fireplaces can become cloudy and etched if ignored.  Vinegar and water is all it takes to keep them clean if one is diligent.  Who knew?  Now I will be diligent.

Said it would take 2 days and finally took 5 days. Left work area in poor condition - killed the grass, threw pieces of old chimney in the bushing hedge, dumped left over mortar in bushes.
