    MasonWorks LLC
MasonWorks did great work evaluating the scope of repair work for my one story exterior brick and bluestone steps, and were very attentive to detailing and quality during the reconstruction. I would work with MasonWorks again, and would recommend them to others.

    Oliver Enterprises
We were thrilled with our experience. Not only is the end result beautiful and a huge upgrade, but the project was done with great professionalism. The guys arrived on-time, put in a hard days work, paid great attention to detail and left the site immaculate. Jeff and TJ were very involved with up-front planning and helped us tackle a big project in a confined space. We bid the project out to several contractors and their price was very competitive and fair. The work consisted of removing an existing cast-in-place retaining wall, site grading, installation of new precast wall, stone veneer and seed/loam. Would without a doubt recommend them to others and would definitely use again in the future.

    Watertown Landscaping Inc
It seems all too often we hear stories of experiences with different companies when a job isnt done properly, or perhaps doesnt meet someones expectations. When it comes to Watertown Landscaping, not only was the job done properly, on time and on budget, but it was also delivered with a degree of professionalism and exceptional hands on service that sometimes seems to be a thing of the past Watertown landscaping is owned an operated by Emilio and Maria Coppola and what can only be described as a top notch, second to none, crew of staff as well. My wife and I were looking to get an area in the back resurfaced with pavers, to park a car in a deeded patch of dirt, as well as extending the pavers to provide some patio space to our very small backyard. All in all approximately 35 feet by 12 feet. After an initial consult at our property Mr. Coppola explained the different options and actually recommended the least expensive versions noting that the majority of the pavers would have a car parked over them. They provided everything we needed to make an educated decision. He promised a quote within a week and said if time was not a concern we could probably save some money too. This was in early June and we explained we hoped to have the job completed by Halloween, in time for this coming winter. Shortly after our initial consult, as promised a quote arrived via email from his wife, which we thought was fair, more than reasonable, competitive and within our budget. They are licensed, bonded and fully insured too From a service perspective, we couldn't be happier. We were kept in the loop throughout the summer with an occasional email that we could expect the job to be done by Labor day and if there was a particular time or days that worked better than others they would be able to accommodate if we provided some different dates? Our response was, anytime that works for you, just let us know and we will make sure the car isnt parked in back. Im an under promise over deliver kind of person so this was a breath of fresh air to me. Going out of their way to check in and see when convenient for us, was indeed a nice touch that didnt go unnoticed. As for the actual work, Watertown landscape shined here as well. As promised, last Monday night Mr. Coppola pulled up in a large truck and dropped off a very small backhoe/loader. Tuesday morning a crew of 3 very polite men were in the space, digging up the area a few inches deep, smoothing it out and making certain it was level, laying string that would be the pattern of the pavers. Mr. Coppola came by throughout the day checking on every little detail. On Wednesday AM they returned to lay the pavers. What resulted was a work of art. In two days a patch of dirt that turned to mud when it rained was transformed into an eye pleasing surface, with reddish/terra cotta pavers that matched the shutters on our home and a gray outline pavers to give it some detail/contrast, matching the pain on the bulkhead door. Our neighbors who abut the back of the house called last night to thank us as they too didnt like seeing the mud run off into the street every time it rained. Everyones happy! Thank you, Watertown Landscaping!

John designed a new walk way for our front yard. The work was completed in one day and is just what we wanted. We used Watertown Landscaping previously for a much bigger project in our back yard and were very pleased with the design and completed project.

    Compass Landscapes, Inc
The work provided by the professionals of Compass Landscapes, Inc was excellent in all respects. From our initial phone call to completion, we experienced the highest level of advice, suggestion, expertise, service, artistry and follow-up, with little to no wait time. The first project was the installation of the border cobbles. This huge task was completed in a full workday so that by sunset the yard looked fabulous with no sign of the disruption of digging, granite cutting or installation. Clean-up was flawless! Next came the enormous job of installing the irrigation system around a full city block of connected townhouses with multilevels of land, walls and full gardens of shrubs, perennials and annuals already in bloom. In just two days, these accomplished professionals installed four zones of irrigation hoses and spigots including garden drip lines to insure no waste of water. Even the front porch pots and back fence hanging basket were provided with drip lines. And, this gardener was delighted to see the care taken to insure that neither the lawn nor the plants and shrubs were harmed during the entire extensive process! As for follow-up...response was immediate for adjustments and a tutorial on the operation of the rain sensor and timer. Finally, as we requested, three large shrubs tipping from size and winter snow are now standing tall and, as suggested, we added cobbles around a center garden! Our property has never looked better! The lawn, shrubs, annuals, perennials, bees, butterflies, birds and owners are beyond delighted with the high caliber of work completed! Clearly, the personable professionals of Compass Landscapes, Inc take enormous pride in their work! They receive our highest praise and recommendation!

A Yard and a Half Landscaping Cooperative
First-class work, very high quality. It was a complex job, including a driveway of permeable pavers, stone walls, irrigation, lighting, etc. Yard-and-a-Half worked closely with our designer to discuss options, finalize design, and then carried out the construction and installation with care. The work was very well done, and the crew was a pleasure to work with. We have no regrets whatsoever.

    Cappadona Landscape Co.
It is unfortunate I have to write a bad review, as i'd prefer to say nothing at all... I hired Mark to do a full back yard makeover, which included removing existing flagstones, increase grade of lawn area, roll new grass, build stone wall, install pavers. Mark met with me a few times to estimate the job, very pleasant guy, and we agreed on a price. It was very competitive to other contractors, though i decided to not include as much keeping the price down. After initial conversations it was very hard to get Mark to respond to get started on the job, and started a few wakes later than initially agreed and deposit paid. Once it started, it was a half day here, a day there. No consistency. Though Mark told me he had a team, he really only had one helper that also worked on other jobs. After a few weeks of this I was getting very fed up and had words with Mark. His excuse was that he "was doing me a favor with the price" as he learned the other quotes I had received. He finally returned to get started on the wall. He no sooner started on the wall, when he injured his hand badly and could not complete the job. I felt bad he was injured, and understood his position, and he agreed to return the remainder of the deposit (he declared I had most of it remaining, as he had only done a few days work at this point). His irrigation guy, who is very good, continued to do his piece, but i had to hire a new crew to complete the project. They did an excellent job and had to correct the mistakes made on the bit of wall that was started. As I said, i would prefer not to write a negative review, however after several months of attempts to contact Mark to see how much deposit I had remaining so I could get it returned, I have not received a single response. This is unfortunate as he is a nice guy, but I don't like being screwed over.

    Premier Pavers & Hardscape Co
First I want to say that we are happy with the end result of the project...but it was a very difficult process to get there and I am not so sure I would hire this company again. In fact I know I wouldn't. Here is a list of what we experienced:

    1. The sales process was good. We like the proposed design and the fact that Premier was going to put in drainage below the permeable pavers and have our downspouts feed directly into them. We made a deposit...and it's true that they will accept only one payment on a credit card...and that was the last we heard from the sales person, Rick Wheeler.
    2. I received emails from Ian Forman and Dave Paiva about a start date...with neither one of them identifying who they were or what role they were playing in the installation. They actually started a day or two later than planned...and went a couple weeks longer, but that's par for the course with construction.
    3. Demolition went fine, but one of my neighbors complained that first day because they went well past 7:00 PM to finish that particular phase.
    4. When they started installing the permeable pavers, one side had to be cut at a slight angle to match the plan. The cutting was very rough and sloppy (agreed by the project manager, Dave Paiva), and had to be redone.
    5. The installation of the pavers stopped about 18 inches shy of how the plan was drawn, but the dimensions were according to the drawing...turns out that the dimensions of the actual driveway were not transferred to the drawing.
    6. When they adjusted the installation, they completely abandoned the installation pattern so this last 18 inches is a bit off design wise.
    7. We agreed that the stone wall and planting bed would be installed 7 inches from the corner of the foundation, making for a slightly wider driveway. The first several rows of stone cemented into place for about a 5 foot stretch were installed in alignment of the corner of the foundation. This all had to be ripped up and reinstalled. And in the end, there is way more visible cement than expected.
    8. The asphalt installation was a bit wonky; it looked wavy looking down the length of it. The project manager Dave agreed that there would be pooling in several areas if left as is. It had to be fixed.
    9. Our neighbor had a survey done so he could install a fence along the driveway. There were orange survey stakes in place and we instructed them many times that they had install the trim pavers on our side of the line. Sure enough, they installed on the wrong side of the line cementing about 50 feet of brick in place. This installation was wonky as well because they followed the surface of the wonky asphalt. Again, another tear out and reinstall.
    10. One of the two bluestone steps that were delivered had a major chip along one of the edges. For some reason they decided to install the step so that this flaw was exposed. Dave said that it would be fixed with a little cement...which would have been an obvious patch. Really? for $25k? It was because of patches like that that we were having the work done to begin with. We agreed that he would stipple the front of the steps which would hide the flaw. He (Dave) did an OK job, but was inconsistent in his stippling.
    11. The installation continued when we had to leave for vacation and was completed when we returned; and upon our return they were quick to come collect the final payment.
    12. The PVC feeds into the drainage system were not in line with my downspouts, so now I have crooked downspouts.
    13. Upon cleaning our front yard we decided to move their sign and stick it in our new planting bed...only to discover that two inches below the surface of soil was rocks and cement. It turns out that while we were away they realized that they installed the trim pavers of the walkway in the wrong place. When they removed them (once again a tear out and reinstall) they opted to just cover up the cement with dirt...thus not giving us the planting bed that was in the agreed upon plan. I immediately called Dave to ask him to resolve it. He said it would be taken care of the next day.
    14. When I returned home the next day the repair work had not been done. I called Dave back and let him know I was stopping payment on the check.
    15. When my final payment check bounced, Ian Forman called me and blasted me out saying they needed to use that payment to pay their creditors. Ummm...I'm the customer and you didn't perform the work that I paid you to. You left me no other option.
    16. And finally, we never once heard from the original sales person, Rick Wheeler, during this whole process. I guess he got his commission check and didn't feel follow-up was necessary. So much for the service part of their service model.

So again, while we are pleased with the end result, I give this company an overall D because of the experience. If you have the time to micromanage this type of project, then go with them. But you will have to micromanage every last detail of it.

It went very well. We had a crumbling decaying wood retaining wall (made of railroad ties)
in the back yard, and a fence that was in bad shape - it was not a simple job to fix the fence, because it was on a slope with tree roots in the way. We asked Dominic to try to fix it inexpensively - and he did exactly that. We were very pleased with the work.
The only (very minor) thing i would say is that sometimes they weren't the best communicators - as to when the job would get done. But they were very good, and i would definitely use them again.
Also, we had the job priced by two other companies, and Cosco was the best price.
