    I have been using them for probably 20 years or so. I learned about them because my wife was a member. It is a wonderful health club. They are very established. They have been around for years. It is expensive probably for some people but there are lot of fitness coaches and so on and so forth.

    Get In Shape For Women
    Found workouts monotonous and not challenging after the first week or two.  Difficult to schedule and not well set up to serve working people but probably OK for those who do not work and have plenty of time on your hands to work around your schedule.  I didn't finish the sessions I had bought, waste of time.

    Like most large scale fitness centers, BSC-Watertown has it's good and bad. The good: clean, lots of equipment, variety of classes, free parking. The bad: expensive, lots of pushing to get you to join premium services like personal training which is really expensive. I just go there to work out on my own. The staff are friendly, the facility is in good working order and I don't have any trouble getting in and out in a timely fashion. I do wish they opened earlier on the weekends so I could get on with my day but it's not that big a deal. Overall, for what it is, I like it.

    I had received a letter which stated that my fitness contract for the year was about to expire. I went to the Mt Auburn Club without an appointment and was still able to meet with one of the member services representative. I did not have to wait and was taken into the member services area and asked to have a seat. The representative's name was Dory. She has always been very hospitable and understanding whenever I have had a question regarding my membership. Dory also happens to be one of the fitness professionals in the club and teaches many of the current classes. She was very professional, efficient and showed  me the various options I had available for my new yearly contract. Because both my wife and I are members of the same club we both have received a 20% discount on our yearly dues.
    This club is like going to a spa to exercise. It is an adult only club with many amenities included. Towels, soaps, shampoo and all of the exercise equipment one would need to get or stay in fit. I will continue to be a member for years to come.

    The other members are quite nice and friendly. The facilities are nice though the locker room is a little cramped, it is clean. The trainers are young and their level of interest is variable, my husband had someone who was friendly and interested. I had a trainer who seemed to be less than happy to be stuck with a me, who knows why. He did not follow through on the promises of the 2 month special membership. I like the pool, they have a great water aerobics instructor, Dorrie, and a lane dedicated to exercise all day! The equipment is top quality and was never too busy.

    I joined them two years ago. The price depends on what I want. I have gotten trainers from them. I have signed up so they charge me monthly, and it is $65 a month. It is a good place. I like the way it is set up. The machines are in good repair. I particularly like the Watertown club, and there are a couple of other places where they have an indoor pool. Almost all of them actually have an indoor pool, but there are a couple of them in the big cities which don't have that space. Where I go, there is ample parking, and ample machines most of the time, except peak time. In general, it is in good repair, and I really appreciate having the pool.

    After experiencing and benefiting from deep tissue massage I was apprehensive and a bit scared to try shiatsu.   I have had 3 shiatsu appointments over about 6 weeks time.

    It has been one of the best things I have done to "recover" after my knee replacement operation about 18 months ago.  I am moving much more freely.  I feel better 'balanced.'  My posture has been greatly improved.   

    You must wear loose clothing and long pants. You are on a mat on the floor--fully clothed.  You have to relax and trust the person working on you (she is wonderfu!!!).   There was no pain, just a deep stretching on joints and a deeper muscle massage than on a table.  

    After each massage (deep tissue or shiatsu) I go for a walk (30 to 50 minutes) to help my body get better aligned/balanced.  There can be some slight muscle soreness the next day (from either form of massage).   

    What is weird (interesting) about shiatsu is that I feel activated afterward--compared to feeling sleepy after a deep massage on a table.   

    In the recent past I have found even gentle  yoga difficult, but now I plan to try yoga again to build on the benefits of shiatsu.

    They are very good. They have immaculately clean locker rooms. They have very pleasant personnel. They have tons of cardio machines so I never have to wait even at peak times. It is a really well-run club. All the staff is really nice and they want me to enjoy my experience. They are not phony nice. They have a good wide range of classes. I need to go more often.

    Acupuncture Clinic of Watertown
    After several treatments at ACW with Jessica's delicate yet highly effective Japanese style acupuncture,  I noticed the carpal tunnel symptoms beginning to ramp down. After a couple months of weekly treatments I stopped using the wrist braces most of the time. After 6 months - no more pain at all; no symptoms; no need for the wrist braces while sleeping and/or working at the computer for 8 or more hours per day; and no return of symptoms. 

    Meanwhile Jessica asked "what else I wanted to work on" and there was a long list. I suffered a lot from hot flashes - ten or twelve a day, going from normal to overall clammy sweat without warning. Very uncomfortable, and embarrassing at work.  The hot flashes disappeared almost completely in about six treatments, with "tune ups" every now and again.

    I have always had a tendency to get horrible flus, bronchitis, and bad colds every winter. The past year I had exactly one cold, after being exposed to sick coworkers, sick fellow travelers on the subway, etc..  A flu that was coming on was completely "kicked out" of my body with 2 consecutive treatments (one each day for 2 days) and I was fine and able to travel for my demanding job. 

    Last but not least, in the past 5 years I had suffered from awful migraines - the kind where you  throw up for 12 hours straight, cannot endure light, noise, motion, or anyone talking to you.  I lost work time and many days out of my life to these migraines.  After seeing Jessica all the migraines have gone away.

    Jessica also counsels you about lifestyle - food, vitamins, exercise, stretching, and self-care in general. She is never bossy or controlling, but offers information to help you live your life in greater health and balance. She is also very, very funny, personable, and kind.

    There is one other thing -- these treatments make you feel so amazingly good! Relaxed, happy, buoyant, even sometimes an amazing floating sensation of weightless bliss. I don't know if everyone gets this sensation from a treatment, but it is worth the money just for that. Speaking of money, I paid for these sessions out of pocket from my tiny "nonprofit salary" and they were worth every cent. So for immunity, pain relief, endocrine adjustments, and overall health, all I can say is Bravo Jessica, and three cheers for Acupuncture Clinic of Watertown. Amazing results, and so gentle.  The results speak for themselves.

     After knee replacement operations I hired one of the trainers to continue (for 3 more months) the same physical therapy regimen that my insurance had discontinued ten weeks post surgery.  I needed help to improve my mobility, balance, and strength.  With the trainer's help and encouragement I have made a great recovery and am truly committed to a regular (4-5days/wk) exercise and strengthening program.

     I have also used spa services- facial, pedicure, manicure, and massage--these costs are extra.  

    I am a club regular now.  I know I can get good health/fitness advice from an encouraging staff. 

    I enjoy the club because of the members who have been open, interesting, many are business professionals, college faculty, and artists. We share restaurants, travel, and shopping tips.  I find the yearly fees ~$1200 reasonable and relatively inexpensive given all the services, pool, classes (including yoga and tai chi).   I have been at other gyms, but this place has become my home away from home.
