    Lourival Masonry
From initial contact to finishing job all very professional. The crew arrived as scheduled on Monday and work was finished by Tuesday. The demolition to the installation of all was perfect and the outcome is beautiful. The overall experience was great and the work exceeded my expectations. I now have a fantastic walkway with gorgeous granite steps. I plan to do more work in 2019 and will definitely use Lourival Masonry

I received an acceptable estimate in mid-April and paid down 1/3 deposit.
Then I didn't hear from them again until I wrote in July, August and September to remind them that the job needed doing.
Apparently, the carpenter, who was going to build the new stairs after the concrete the steps had been demolished, had lost his business partner.  Finally, they started the work in September, and it turned out to be a lot more demanding than anticipated, and a lot more work.  They worked a good three weeks off and on at demolishing the concrete, and brought in a jack hammer only during the third week, so the demolition was mostly by hand with big mallets, really back breaking, slow work.  I was told that initially they thought they could just take off the top of the concrete stairs and build the new stairs over the remains, but the building inspector required that new footings be dug to secure the new stairs.  That of course was a lot more work than they first estimated, and consequently I was billed over 70% above the written pricing estimate.  Then they built the new stairs and installed them, including two new fiberglass columns that still need painting.  The work was finally finished at the end of October, but there is still a lot of equipment that is stored in my yard (wood planks, wheel barrow, etc.) that they have yet to pick up (Nov. 23 as I write this review). The new stairs look very good, and I'm pleased with them.  But the faulty estimate was really disappointing and very costly.  The mason assures me that no one made any money on this work, but that's hardly a consolation for the homeowner who trusts that estimates will be accurate, give or take a reasonable 10% or so.  When I say I wouldn't hire them again, it applies only to the mason, but I would hire again the carpenter who was subcontracted to build the new stairs.
Also I want to say that they agreed for me to pay the $3,500 cost overrun in monthly increments, for which I'm grateful.

    COSCO LANDSCAPE CO
Dominic provided an estimate for removing damaged walkway surface between driveway and side entrance to the house. Recommended Ideal Pavers once the initial consultation was complete. After selecting desired style and layout, Dominic's team successfully removed damaged materials, leveled the area, re-directed a downspout, installed the new pavers, directing water flow to a new drain. A new Ideal concrete step was installed after the original step design proved to be insufficient. The Cosco installers were professional, timely, cleaned up afer each day, and used their expertise to make the best of some difficult situations during the job.

Joe and his crew were terrific and I would not hesitate to use them again. From the outset, he really listened to what we wanted to do, provided creative solution, and worked with us to find the best way to accomplish our goals--all the while keeping our budget in mind. His crew were very professional; they worked without disrupting the rest of the household, they cleaned up every day, kept noise to a minimum, asked us our opinions when they were unsure of how to proceed with an item of personal choice, and made the whole project so much less of a hassle than we though it would be. Joe was a perfect go-between, making sure that the work was being done the way we wanted and done to the highest quality standard. Everything I inspected--the wiring, the plumbing, the studs, the plasterwork, the trim--was just perfect. Real craftsmanship.
After the project was done, the results exceeded our expectations by quite a bit. He was ableto deliver on everything he promised and even did a bit more to make the final result really stunning.

Reggie and his team did a great job, arrived on time when they said they would be here. Reggie responded to all questions politely and professionally. He gave us the best price and got it done in a reasonable amount of time. We liked that they did not use heavy machinery that would have disturbed us. The garage floor looks awesome.

    United Remodeling
I contacted United Remodeling after I saw what a terrific job they did in my sister's home.  Ours was a much bigger project, with all sorts of necessary tasks inside and out.  Within a few days of my call, Alessandro came by and assessed the job.  There was much to do.  They mended and painted fences, power washed the house and garage, built beautiful new stone front stairs, patched and/or repaired the siding and concrete foundation, repointed the chimney, and painted all of the exterior wood trim, doors, and bulkhead.  I'm most pleased and proud of my beautiful refurbished front door, original to the house, and painted a brilliant red.  Great job guys!  And excellent feng shui!
There was just as much work to do inside.  They replaced the kitchen door, counter tops and appliances, repairing and/or replacing cabinet doors and worn thresholds throughout.  And best of all, they were able to open up the load bearing wall between my kitchen and dining room, creating a much more open, comfortable and welcoming space.  Every room was painted, then checked, and checked again for any "holidays".  There are none.
The carpenters, painters and plumbers are truly a very talented and professional group.  And you will not meet a more courteous, insightful, and cohesive team!  The same can be said for the managers.  Alessandro, Marcos or Junior called, or came by everyday to check on the job.  They never missed a call, or failed to address any questions or concerns.  They really strive to make sure their customers are happy, and the job is done right.  It was a pleasure to work with them all!

They came out once to remove the old concrete and laid new concrete in the forms.  Then, once the concrete dried, they came out and sealed the concrete.  There was one additional step that needed to be replaced that did raise the cost quite a bit, by about $600. Overall, they did a good job and completed the work in a timely manner.  They were more prompt in responding than other contractors who provided estimates to us.

    DDA Home Remodel
The below was written by my husband:
This work was done by Luis, who was fantastic.  He was easy to get along with and the quality of the work he did is very high.
Dan, on the other hand, was tough to deal with.  There were several other projects we needed done, but it was like pulling teeth to get information or estimates out of him.  I don't know if we just didn't get along.
At the end of the project, the final price was really high.  The hours worked were right on, but the labor cost was high, because $100/hr is a lot for handyman services.  But I was also really surprised by the cost of materials, over $550.
Obviously they are all about the markup.  Dan the head guy is clearly going from job to job setting things up and making the spread between what he charges and what he pays Luis, which is probably a lot less.  But their invoice also says that they mark up materials 30% *and* charge you for the time (at $100/hr) they spend at hardware stores etc buying them.  That really felt excessive to me.
But even so, $550 for landscape timbers and a bag of cement was a lot.  When I asked for an itemization, they quickly said it was a mistake and the price went down; they had overcharged us more than $200.  That's a mighty profitable mistake.
Even after the overcharge was fixed, this project came in at over $2500.  My landscape timbers look good, but I think I probably could have had custom masonry done at that price.
We had a bunch of other projects we had hoped to get these guys to do.  But while I was very happy with Luis's work, paying that kind of premium for the privilege of interacting with a guy (Dan) who is hard to deal with -- and then getting overcharged on top of it -- wasn't worth it.

Charles was great to schedule and plan the job. We talked about the different options and found a great solution, which I am really happy with. Charles took the time to understand the problem and find the best solution possible. It involved quite a bit of work which was done very professional and as clean as possible. Charles and the workers were very professional and knowledgeable.
Several months after the work was done I contacted Charles again regarding the grade of the garage floor. Water from the car would run into an area we did not want it in. That was something he had anticipated but there was no better solution at the time.
He came out and resurfaced the part of the garage and fixed the problem AT NO COST. I offered to pay for it since it was not really a problem with his initial work but he did not want to get paid for it.
He obviously stands behind his work and guarantees it.
Very professional and very high quality at a great price. I would definitely use Charles again and recommend him.
I had also gotten estimates from another popular local company for basement waterproofing (with a pet in their name) and they were more expensive and did not come up with the easier solution. I also did not like how they approached the problem with the discharged water probably affecting your neighbor.
    So definitely go with Charles!

    Johnnys Painting & Drywall Service
HIRE THIS MAN!!!  YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!
Sent out various bids from Angie's List to get work done.  Picked Johnny after discussing project with him.  He was mid-priced but his honesty and demeanor is what got him hired.
Being a new home owner, I have been taken advantage of by various people.
I got bids to redo some work required for my loan ranging from $1200-$35,000 - are you kidding me?!?!?!  35K?!!?!?!
    Johnny came to my rescue!
He even put up with me not knowing what I needed, not understanding the "terminology", changing my mind on things, as many women tend to do, and freaking out as work began (sorry Johnny - new to all of this!)
His crew did absolutely zero damage to my shingled exterior whilst working on a three story multifamily home.  Now that is impressive and shows talent and knowledge. They were totally professional, on time, did all the work and then some (sorry again Johnny) and cleaned up!
You should see the quality of the work - it's excellent!  not just good - but excellent! This is coming from not only the home inspector, but my father, a retired contractor in CT.
Johnny - thank you so much for all you have done for me.  Thank you again for putting up with me whilst I learned about all the stuff you were doing.  Thank you for being the honest man that you are! I would hire you again in an instant!!
I highly recommend Johnny and his team!
Bonus is on me Johnny -email me for details!:)
