    Shivaun's Pet Sitting and More
Shivaun was very responsive and professional. All services performed to expectation, and she even offered to bring in our lawn furniture as a tropical storm was forecast to hit us while we were away. Came home to happy cats. Would not hesitate to hire her again in the future.

    PETRA HUDSON-PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZER/ASSISTANT
Petra is amazing. She is incredibly reliable, dedicated, positive, upbeat and engaged. She gives way more than 100% to her clients. She is completely trustworthy and we felt totally safe with having Mom in her care. She is able to take initiative and step in when needed. She often called to check in on Mom even when she was not working. If anything, sometimes, I had to ask her to pull back a bit as she so much wants to take care of her clients. As Mom needed more time and coverage, we added a caregiver from a healthcare agency to fill-in time when Petra was not able to work as she had other pre-existing clients. We saw Petra as a personal assistant who has a concierge type business and did not initially hire her as a caregiver. Her fees are twice what agencies charge for homehealth type caregivers but they are totally in line with the type of concierge service that she can provide. She is also so much more capable and competent than any caregiver that we hired from the agency and there were several over a two year period. We felt very blessed to have found Petra and have her in Mom's life. Mom also viewed her as friend and not as someone who was getting paid to take care of her. I am happy to highly recommend Petra for future work.

    Bond & Des Voeux
They have been cleaning the three bedroom condo for two years. They are superb. The quality of the cleaning is the best I have ever seen. They are reliable and prompt. They think ahead about supplies needed. They point out everything and take initiative like getting the rugs shampooed or small repairs done. They clean inside the refrigerator and other seasonal projects. They also do small tasks like bring donations to Goodwill which is great because as a parent of two children in a small space, knowing that I can get those items out my door quickly is great. They have also gotten shoes repaired and other one off projects. So helpful. Their customer service liaison is incredibly organized and efficient. Their communication with me has been excellent and makes it easy to ask them to do other things.

A Touch Of Class Cleaning & Maintenance Services
In April 2009, only five months after her second grandchild was born, my Mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. After a nine month uphill battle with experimental trials of chemotherapy that proved unsuccessful, she passed away at hospice with both her children and her year-old grandson present at her bedside. She was only 66. My sister and I both agreed to allow ourselves whatever time we needed to come to terms with our loss before dealing with the looming decision about what to do with our Mom’s furnished three-bedroom condo that she’d left behind in Boca Raton. Having lived there for the last 25 years, it contained a lifetime’s worth of her personal possessions, generations of family memorabilia, paintings, artwork, antiques, fine china, knick-knacks…all which would require time and attention to sort through and fairly divide. Because of the differences in our schedules and the distances involved—my sister resides with her young family in Massachusetts and I live in Northern California with mine— it would prove a challenge to coordinate. However, by the end of the summer, we were each determined to begin the process of preparing her condo for the rental market. We turned to Angie's List, and quickly hired a top-rated painting company to apply two coats of paint to the entire condo just prior to our scheduled arrival in early September. When we arrived, most of the painting work was complete, although additional touch-up work would be necessary. However, when we arrived, we were a bit surprised that everything in the condo was covered with a thick layer of paint and dust from all of the preparatory sanding and spraying that had gone on. Engulfed by the toxic odor of paint fumes and breathing in dust, but with the weather still too hot and humid to open windows to clear the place out, we diligently began the process of sorting through all of her belongings, determining what we wished to keep and packing them into moving boxes and crates. A week later, the shipping company we’d hired loaded up the truck and pulled away. Except for a few items put into consignment, and a few select pieces sold to friends and neighbors at rock-bottom prices, we donated most of what was left to local charities. My sister then flew back to her patient little boy. The challenging responsibility of getting the apartment thoroughly cleaned so that a realtor could begin showing it remained with me. I again turned to Angie’s list in search of a reputable company with A+ ratings and competitive pricing. Little did I know I would find this and so much more with the most positively-minded and reasonably priced professional “can-do” outfit I’ve ever known. It is aptly named A Touch of Class. During the very first contact I had with him by phone—I believe it was a Thursday—with the painters already scheduled to return on Friday to complete their touch-up work—Eli, the owner and founder of this unique operation, immediately earned my respect with his careful listening and clear understanding of the situation. “I understand you need us to do a complete cleaning of the apartment and have it finished as quickly as possible so that you can begin the long drive back to California. You’ve got painters coming by tomorrow, so we’ll want to wait until they’ve finished their work. I’ll see if I can get you one of my best workers to start work early on Saturday morning, but first I’d like to stop by and meet you so that I can get a better picture of what needs to be done.” Within an hour, Eli had arrived. He quickly began with a thorough walk-through of each room, taking careful mental notes of everything in the apartment that needed professional cleaning. As he moved, he let me know that he had just helped out another client from Angie’s list, someone with a recently deceased relative whose apartment needed to be quickly cleaned and prepared for showing. “That’s why your situation feels so familiar!” Because Eli is also a handyman, he also offered to take care of anything that needed repairing. I did have a short list for him: adjusting folding doors that kept coming off their track, a toilet tank that leaked water on the bathroom floor after each flush, re-caulking loose tiles from one of the showers, carting bags of trash down to the garage, and professionally cleaning all of the carpeting throughout the apartment. “No problem. And what about all of that unpacked stuff that you’ve got sitting in the middle of the living room floor? If you want, I can swing by with some extra boxes. Are you going to need help getting those packed? I can get that done and ship them to you.” I was beginning to think this guy was either an angel or The Savior himself. Shortly after my sister had left, I unfortunately discovered several cabinets full of more stuff that we’d just overlooked. After a week of non-stop packing, I was in such a state of overwhelm that having to think about doing anything more, even coming up with answers to simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions, was totally incapacitating, and left me standing like a deer in the headlights, looking puzzled with a vacant stare. Eli immediately got the picture. “You don’t have to decide anything now. I’ll bring by a few extra boxes and if you don’t need them, we’ll just cart them away.” What a relief. As for the estimate, it would be $25/hour. The carpet cleaning would be a separate flat rate. His bid ended up being the lowest. Due to a misunderstanding, the painters didn’t show up on Friday: the earliest they could make it was on Saturday morning, the same time Eli had scheduled me for cleaning. I called him on Friday and asked if they could start closer to noon instead of 8 am. “No problem. But in that case, I’ll stop by and help out in the middle of the day to make sure the cleaning is done and we’re out of your way by five.” The painters ended up staying well past noon, re-sanding and applying touch up paint moving from room to room, so the cleaning began in earnest in those rooms the painters had completed just as the dust had finished settling. In the middle of the afternoon, Eli arrived with boxes and his tools just as he had promised. After pointing out a couple of places the painters had missed, he began his projects. By five, he had completed all of the handyman work he’d set out to do, and most of the cleaning was finished. We agreed that a couple of extra hours would be needed for vacuuming, washing down the outdoor porches and finishing the windows. We scheduled that for the following Monday. Eli came by again to check up on the progress. Seeing that the kitchen was spotless, he asked where I’d be eating dinner. My honest answer was that I hadn’t thought about it. Why don’t you come over to my house? You’re far from home and looked like you could use a home-cooked meal. I accepted his invitation, and was treated to a delicious meal in his home with his beautiful family, and we had so much to talk about, I ended up leaving close to midnight. I was so impressed with his professionalism, reliability, and his kindness that I asked if A Touch of Class could provide maintenance services for the apartment in our absence. That way if any of the appliances broke down or something needed repair, the tenants could call him directly, and he’d be the trustworthy person to assess the situation and come up with the most reasonable and affordable solution to any problem that might arise. He said sure, and also said that since I wanted to leave he could have the carpet cleaned after I was gone so that I would not need to wait for it to dry or worry about walking on it. I agreed, and happily left Eli with a check for the carpet cleaning, along with a spare set of keys to the apartment. How is it that I got to leave Florida a day or two earlier than I had thought was possible? That my Mom’s apartment was up on the MLS and being shown to prospective tenants within days of my departure, and that we’ve already had a couple of offers on it? It felt like nothing short of a miracle. But today, safely back with my family in Oakland, California, I know I could not have done any of that without Eli’s willingness to put his client’s needs first—even to the point of intuiting them before the client has even got around to figuring them out—and then going above and beyond to make sure everything’s done to exceed his clients’ expectations…and with A Touch of Class that King Midas should take note of. I cannot think of any other business more deserving of my wholehearted recommendation, or of my gratitude that Eli and his employees continue to earn.

    PETRA HUDSON-PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZER/ASSISTANT
Petra always had a very high standard for the project at hand, treating the work as if it were in her own home. She is an excellent communicator -- always asking a clarifying question, if needed, to make sure that the project is done just right. She is also just a rock solid person -- caring, trustworthy, professional, and on time.

    All Chores
She's really great. If you need somebody to go pick up your dry cleaning she'll go do that, or if you need someone to do light gardening work she'll do that. She'll do pretty much anything. She picks the kids up if you need them picked up somewhere. She's really great. She watched our cat while we were gone and we just had a couple of things around the house that we were wondering if she could just take care of, like emptying our humidifier and things that were totally unrelated to the animal, and she was great. She does have a full list of the things that she's willing to do, decorating parties or helping to serve at parties. She really covers everything. What I loved was that she left daily reports for what she did with my cat. She send me a text while we were gone and let me know everything was great. She was just very professional. She comes to the house and takes notes. I felt very safe with her coming into my house. There wasn't anything I disliked. She's amazing. She's so great. She was top-notch and I highly recommend her.

    Najia Sbai
She is highly qualified as a tutor. She is an excellent teacher and gives her all in assisting with pronunciation. She has a tremendous amount of patience. She is detail-oriented and enthusiastic! She has a passion for teaching. I've used others for language teaching and find that Najia is at the top of her category. The lessons are fun. With my creativity, she is very open to making my French lessons a very enjoyable, personable session. She is also passionate about being a personal assistant. In the home she can take care of dogs and pet/house sit. This has been very helpful as I can leave on a trip and know my dogs are in good hands. She can prepare meals for you, and makes delightful ethnic dishes from Morocco (her home country). She also cooks with nutritious, fresh, delicious foods to help keep you on track with any diet. She irons my clothes. She helped me organize my house. Over time I get busy and disorganized, but she brought me back on track. She helped me create space and clarity in my home, and remove excess clutter. The end result is just great!

    We Gopher it
I have used We Gopher it a few times and they have been very good. They delivered the same day. They came to me and I didn't have to go to them. They are very friendly. I required a signature after the documents were dropped so they not only took a copy of the signature, they took a picture of the signature and send me a text of the signature as soon as it was delivered. That was a big deal for me.
