Plastering reviews in Swampscott

  • All of the projects went very well. Sam provides a cost-efficient estimate, sticks to the estimate he provides, stays on the job throughout and follows up to ensure successful completion. We recommend him highly.

  • Heath is outstanding and a real find! He combines great craftsmanship with reliability and does it all at a very reasonable price. I was worried entrusting someone I didn't know to finish the sunroom which had been a major investment for us. Relying on Angie's List reviews and the sense of knowledge Heath projected as he discussed the project with me, I took a chance. Ecstatic that I did! Everything was done top notch. All the rooms he worked on look great. He pays attention to details that I would certainly miss. We also appreciated and came to rely on his sense of aesthetics. For example he pointed out issues that we already had concerns about regarding the way the deck had been finished, not because he was trying to add work but because it didn't look right to him. He also is great at figuring out the typical issues that contractors encounter along a project. For example, moving our microwave was very tricky because it involved completely redoing the upper shelving the microwave was attached to while connecting it to an appropriate power source. We also used a metal material for our backsplash which was not as easy as ceramic to work with but Heath did a great job. All looks great! He's also just a very easy guy (and a good guy) to work with! I couldn't be happier. We will be using him again, though I suspect once word fully gets out on how good he is he will become more and more difficult to schedule.

  • 1 & 2: successfully completed 3: will return to paint when plaster is dry 4: will make follow-up appointment to find source of leaks and Cleaned up fully after the work was done. Explained what he was doing and advising. A very cordial, professional person.

  • Mack and his team are honest, reliable, and truly helpful professionals who really know their craft.  Excellent painters and craftsmen, there is no request that they can't handle.  They were punctual, very polite and respectful of being in my home. I was impressed by how organized they were... the team was expertly managed and was very efficient with their time. Their communication with me was great and I always understood what was going to happen and what to expect at a particular time or day.  This was so important to me, as I work from home and also live with an elderly parent.
Like Mack said, they just wanted to be sure I was happy.  And I was!  I highly recommend Mack's Painting.

  • Steve and his crew were fantastic. We have 2 young children. They were mindful of noise and sealed off all areas. When Job was complete they cleaned everything meticulously. I plan on referring them to anyone in need of drywall, plaster work.

  • Tony Vetrano replaced a 100 year old horsehair plaster ceiling in a small hallway with a new smooth coat ceiling of drywall and plaster skimcoat.  He arrived as scheduled, completed the job in half a day, and his pricing is fair.  And the new ceiling is perfect.  He will be returning in early 2015 to do other work in a stairway and kitchen.  Tony is very professional and a pleasure to work with.

  • Heath did a great job for us.  He came and looked at the project for our bathroom gut job and really talked through it with me.  We were only going to do some renovation but at the end of the day, we decided gutting the whole thing was the way to go because otherwise, we would have been re-doing the shower down the road and it would have made a mess of the new bathroom.  Heath was so reasonable in cost that we were able to do the whole thing now and I'm so glad we did!  He was wonderful to work with.  I own an interior design company so I am quite picky about the work.  Heath is a very conscientious contractor/handyman.  His main concern was always our satisfaction with the work he was doing and the outcome.  He was very honest about certain plumbing tasks needing an actual plumber and was here to talk to prospective plumbers with me.  This was HUGELY helpful because if it wasn't for Heath, we would have way overspent for this part of the project.  Also, he came through for me when my painter (who was supposed to paint the bathroom) continually canceled on me.  Heath came really quickly and had the job done fast.  He is very responsive.  We love our bathroom!  It's beautiful and I would recommend and use Heath again for this type of work.
We also used him for much smaller tasks around the house such as some small electrical work, removal of a built-in hutch and we are continuing to use him to put in hardware and hang fixtures in the bathroom.   We will use him for things that come up around the house in the future.  He is honest, very reasonable, and a pleasure to work with.

  • Tony is an expert at plaster repair and new drywall. A neighbor recommended him five years, and he has been doing all the work on my house since then. When he was doing the drywall/skim coat work for a major bathroom renovation for me, I introduced him to my general contractor -- Michael Bellante of MJB Home Services. Michael was so impressed with the high quality of his work, that he has been having Tony do his plastering and drywall work.

  • Mr. Tolan came and assessed the damage, provided several options, and immediately did the work required.  We selected the type of plastering that would work best, applying a plastic netting over the original wall to minimize dust and debris, then putting a rough and finish coating on the wall and ceiling.  The two-man crew was very efficient and pleasant to work with.  After the work was done they cleaned up the prep area and work area completely.  Steve Tolan, president of the company came by and reviewed the work to make sure that everything was satisfactory and provided instructions on how to prepare area for painting.  Overall, they were very professional in their execution and very pleasant with whom to work.

  • Alan brought Fred along for much of this job, and he was a very pleasant addition to the team. I felt very comfortable with both the skill-level and personality of each man. This was my second time having Alan work in my home, and he continues to be a very nice person who does good work at exactly the scheduled time. I could've rolled this work into a major lead abatement project I was having done shortly thereafter, but our family had to be out of the house for that work, and our walls were tested to be safe. I knew having Alan working around my young children would be safe and appropriate--in fact, the kids love watching him work when it isn't too dirty or dangerous for us to stick around. It was also nice having a professional in the house while I moved our stuff out because it was easier to let him climb a ladder and remove window hardware than to do it myself with my toddler underfoot.
