    I was referred to Hunt by a friend who had used them during a divorce. I wanted an accurate appraisal of my home because Zillow was still showing the value based on our purchase price 3 years ago - and we've made $60-$70K+ improvements since buying. Lois had an opening and came the same week - and I had the appraisal via email just 2 days later. I appreciated not having to pay what the banks charge for an appraisal (I think it was $350 or $400 through the bank when we bought). She said they charge less for this type of appraisal because it's less paperwork when a mortgage isn't involved. She was on time and also really friendly and good with my dogs. I'm glad to know the real value of my house and property as of now - and the good news that it was slightly higher than I thought!

    Crooks! A couple years ago, I called to get rid of a bookcase. He picked out something and said it wasn't worth anything because it was broken. He looked at and gave me $5 for it. As he held the item in hand, he then said 'that was worth $1000!' He brought a lady with him. I implied to him that our conversation was recorded. After many calls, he finally came back. He must have gone to a junk shop and brought something different back. It was white metal instead of bronze. It was worthless. I realized he was a thief and said 'never mind'. He also got a container for sterling silver and said that was worthless. He returned something entirely different! It turned my stomach to know how he took advantage of me. He made me sign a paper to say I would never have anything to do with him. He purported to be a lawyer, which I doubt. I got him thru the local directory in Springfield. I asked for his name and he gave a false name and address. I called information and was told there was no such results. He deserves to have his license taken away.

    THE MOST OUTRAGEOUS INACCURATE WORST LOW APPRAISAL I HAVE EVER SEEN Helen Thelen did an appraisal on own home for the buyers Mortgage Co. To start, our home is 20 years old she said we did not updates which we put new laminate floors in the living room (she reported in average condition when they are only a few years old if that and in excellent condition), hall, and master bedroom, also we painted the kitchen, living room, hall both bathrooms and the master bedroom. We had tile backsplash done in the kitchen below all the cabinets; speaking of the cabinet they are oak cabinets in excellent condition. We also had the shower with brand new tile which is less than a year old, also with tile around the mirror and back splash around the counter in master bath. Helen said we had propane when we have oil for our hot water and heating. She stated she did not know where the septic tank or well were located, my husband walked around with her incase she had any questions all she needed to do was to ask. She has the measurements of the basement wrong along with the garage. We are selling the house with all the appliances Helen said that the washer and dryer were not included. Her comparables were off the wall. I could kept going and going and turn this review into a book. It boils down to she has no past experience in the field of home building, real estate, she is a bartender that doesn't have a clue about appraising. She must have taking an online course, took a test and got her license. SO NEVER HIRE ACADIA APPRAISALS HELEN THELEN WHO COST US THE SALE OF OUR HOME, SHE BID IT SO LOW THAT THE PEOPLE BUYNG COULD COME UP WITH THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HER APPRAISAL AND OUR SELLING PRICE, WHICH IS NOT OVER PRICED. THE BUYERS WERE A YOUNG COUPLE FIRST TIME HOME BUYERs, I DO NOT THINK THEY WILL EVER TRY TO BUY A HOME FOR A LONG TIME AFTER GETTING BURNT BY HELEN. We appealed her appraisal with the realtors comparables and she would not even budge a penny. We were asking $235,000 and she appraised our home at $202,000 our home is a 3 bed 2 1 1/2 bath on 13 acres, you could not replace our home for $202,000.
