Interstate Custom Kitchen and Bath Inc
Excellent company. The entire process went perfect. Joe prepared a detailed project plan, step by step before hand, no surprises and no added cost at all. Joe and his team worked very hard from start to finish. Everything was laid out in detail and the job was completed beautifully. We love the new kitchen. We wanted a honest, reliable company and that is exactly what we got with Interstate Custom Cabinet. We went to another company first but we got a bad feeling about how unorganized and how salesman like the owner was. Joe really cares about the work he does and it shows in the planning, craftsmanship and service he and his company provides.

I have a one hundred and ninety year old home. So, needless to say they ran into issues left and right. You cant learn how to deal with 190 year old house problems in a book. Each problem they ran into was met with thoughtful resolve. Everything from lights to moving pipes and maneuvering around ancient stubborn beams was figured and well executed. They even moved my heating pipes and placed them underneath the tile floor they installed. So, when I needed windows replace I didnt hesitate to ask them to do that job too. The windows are in and everything went as well as could be expected (60 year old windows). I imagine that any house 100 years or newer would be a breeze after dealing with my house.

    Colonial Carpentry Innovations Inc
For the past several years we've enjoyed the kitchen that Colonial Carpentry remodeled for us in 2015. We live in a 100+ year old farmhouse whose kitchen previously had ancient plumbing, lead paint and a comically inconvenient layout. Colonial Carpentry did a complete kitchen gut and we have a new enlarged layout, windows, new electrical & plumbing, and of course new cabinets fixtures, countertops, floors. I will cut to the chase: the new kitchen is gorgeous--open, light, airy, functional, basically the hub of our family life. Not only would we hire Bob again, we HAVE hired Bob again for additional work on our home. Bob brings a trove of specialized knowledge and a genuine love and respect for old houses. He worked with us as he uncovered and addressed the innumerable complications that are part of renovating an old home: the floor was sagging, the ceiling had an insufficient number of carrying beams for the design, there was more termite damage in an exterior wall than we'd imagined. He worked skillfully with the design from our architects, and was imaginative when the original design fell short in some way. The infrastructure of the kitchen is great. Bob brought excellent subcontractors on site (a local electrician and a plumber) and everything works. The finish work is beautiful. He found reclaimed cherry board for the flooring, tested a number of finishes, and the floor is one of the most beautiful aspects of the kitchen. Along the way, when we didn't like how something looked, Bob would fix it until we were happy. Somewhere in the middle of any kitchen remodel, I understand that every homeowner wants to get a divorce from their contractor. This happened to us, too. The first few weeks, when demolition brings dramatic change every day, give way to a grueling late-middle period when visible progress is less clear and you are sick of eating pizza that fits in a toaster oven. Realistically, with an old house and a complete gut and layout change, there is just unpredictable stuff that the contractor is going to discover, and fixing those makes the schedule slip. Also, pro tip: don't go on vacation the first week of the new remodel, because things come up, you aren't there, and the team has to proceed and make decisions. Bob stayed in communication with us throughout the remodel and was very clear about every unexpected snag and could present us with options about how to proceed. We had a minimum of the (dreaded) change orders. Costs came in very close to the original quote. In sum, we are happy with the work, we are delighted with the kitchen and the money we spent, and we still have a good relationship with our contractor.

    Kitchen Encounters, Inc.
We love everything about our new kitchen! Working with Joy made things so easy. She is knowledgeable and very responsive. She listened to our ideas and made great recommendations to further improve the project. She stayed in constant communication and handled any issues that arose. The workers Kitchen Encounters used were extremely professional and friendly -- and they kept our space very clean. All of the work that was done is top notch -- we love everything about it. Even better, they finished the project early and stayed close to our budget.

    Just Bathrooms
Just Bathrooms had previously done a total remodeling of two of our bathrooms . As this half bath is off the laundry area, we needed to brighten and enhance that area too. There were some minor issues toward the end but Cam Belacastro helped us navigate them and was very professional and gracious with his resolution. We appreciate his high standards and his desire to make sure the customer is satisfied. Overall we are very satisfied. The bathroom and laundry room look wonderful ... very clean and bright - exactly how I wanted it!

    Just Bathrooms
Purchasing a home in South Hadley with two 1970-era bathrooms resplendent with white and aqua tile, flowery pink wallpaper, and as we were to find out later, the heaviest cast iron tub (600 lbs.) the contactors had ever removed from a home, made it obvious that we needed two complete bathroom renovations. Finding contractors in Western Massachusetts is an easy task. Finding reputable and talented contractors presents a challenge. Turning to Angies List for help, we decided to contact Just Bathrooms (Just Building, Inc.) based on the excellent reviews and ratings the business had received from its clients. We contacted the owner, Cam Belacastro, who returned our call promptly and set up an appointment to talk about our vision for the renovations. We were subsequently emailed a quote which included a detailed description of the proposed projects and links to some products. Here is what we have learned through this process: 1. Cam is a hands-on business owner. He interfaces with his clients and keeps them on track with selecting products, ordering items and choosing colors and patterns. Almost every day he stops by to check on the projects progression and to consult with his foreman. He is clearly driven and motivating and provides guidance when his employees run into any unexpected challenges. We observed that he respects his employees and rewards their hard work. 2. Cam is very accommodating. We changed our minds about a few design elements and he was happy to work with us to achieve the desired outcome. When we pointed out that a drawer of the self-standing vanity we had selected would scrape the top of our radiator, Cam designed a low lying radiator cover that he fashioned out of our bamboo flooring. 3. Contractors Adam and Carlos, who have been working with Cam for many years, are hardworking and meticulous. They arrived promptly at our house by 7 a.m. each morning. They were respectful of our home and space and welcomed feedback of their handiwork. 4. Adam and Carlos take pride in their workmanship. This is evident when you look at how tile is laid, where precision cuts are made and how they give consideration to the balance between engineering and aesthetics. 5. They do not cut corners ..well okay . around the toilet, for sure . Certainly, everything is done to code, but in addition, if they find something that demonstrates shoddy workmanship or ineffective functioning, it will be reengineered to comply with their high standards. 6. When you observe the quality, time and effort that is put into your renovation, the money spent transforms itself into a very worthwhile investment in your property. When we met Cam, by virtue of his companys standing on Angies List he told us, we are the best. My healthy internal skepticism decided to suspend judgment. Complete demolition and renovation of two of our bathrooms has afforded us the right to credibly say that Just Bathrooms is the best. Without hesitation, they come highly recommended and will definitely be called upon for our future projects. Thank you Cam, Adam and Carlos!

    N Riley Construction Inc
Estimate work went well, Nick arrived on time, Nick is knowledgeable, friendly and a nice person. It started when I spoke with his office person, I requested a schedule for the work. I was told there is no way to give a customer a work schedule. There are too many issues with weather. I told the person I understood the concerns about weather delays and other uncontrollable issues that might occur.
I mentioned to her that I handled many projects in my former position and always received schedules from my contractors, I never received any type of schedule. I questioned concerns I had with a sub contractor, (his excavator). The excavator arrived without any plans to work with but started digging anyways. Concrete contractor arrived and the excavation was dug wrong and needed to be re-worked before foundation could be set up and poured.
The concrete company did not install any expansion joints and when I asked Nick about this concern. Nick said he even asked his contractor and he told him not to worry about it, it will be OK.
Nick seems to have only a small staff and some are not as skilled as the other professionals. There are days when he scheduled his staff to work at the house and I would be home all day and no one would show up until late afternoon.
When I would question the schedule, I would be told that sometimes they would run late on another job. Problem I have is I am paying $60,000.00 for my project and would like to know my project is done before they're to start other projects.
Within 6 months the concrete pad on my patio is cracked, I told Nick I did not want any repairs done with concrete during winter months, my garage floor has a large crack across the width of the floor. My Breezeway floor (subfloor) makes noise like it is flexing when you walk on it.
I contacted Nick in August and was told he come over within a week but two weeks later, we received an e mail asking to set up a date to make the repairs to the Breezeway floor and seal the cracks in the garage floor and patio. I do not want someone to simply apply sealer on the cracks and Nick says he is going to fix the sub floor from beneath the floor. Nick is a great person, his staff might be too small for the size his company is growing into. When Nick was on site everything ran smoothly, when Nick was not there, that seems to be when things do not go as planned. I would use Nick for smaller jobs, but when his sub contractors are used is where I had my concerns. I will say his sub contractor electrician and siding contractors were great, they worked like professionals with professional finishes.

    Valley Home Improvement, Inc.
They are a very professional group. When they are done you don't go in and say what a mess. They are careful as they go on. They put plastic screen between where they are working and all the areas, so it is not a big concern. We had them do the kitchen first. They did that in 2009. We were very pleased with it, so we had them go ahead and do the bathrooms one after the other. We kept using them, so obviously we didn't think the price was that bad. They do a good job. They come back quite a bit after the work is done to deal with any problems that might come up. There was for instance a squeaky faucet that we called them about over a year after it was put in and they came out and replaced it. The crew that did the last bathroom was an A the whole way. The crew that did the bathroom before that, I might have some complaints, but I know that Steve Silverman, who runs shop, has actually let one of those guys go. I've re-used them several times. What Valley Home Improvement does is they are a design and building group. So they come out and work on the overall idea and give you some help. You agree on what is going to get done and he brings in people and he helps you shop for the tile and shop for the plumbing fixtures and all that. So there is a lot of overhead that is very valuable when you are working on a big job, but if you have something like I want my front porch repaired, you are not going to go to this group. The only caution I would give anybody is that I would say over all the projects they haven't been that good at staying on schedule with the project. By the end we kind of knew to expect that if Steve said it was going to take four weeks, then I said OK, it's going to take eight. If you just brace yourself for that, it's fine. It is not like everybody is there every day for eight weeks. They get most of the work done and then it just kind of slows down at the end.

I met with April and she is just wonderful. This is my first bathroom renovation and I didn't know where to begin. She took it step by step and showed me choices and listened to me when I expressed my thoughts and wishes. She also gave me so much information as well as a complete price breakdown of everything. I will go back again.

CARE Home Complete At-home Renovation and Energy
My Husband and I wanted to have some updates done to our home and after talking to several home improvement companies and getting several estimates we chose to go with CARE Home Improvement. We spoke with the project manager who had every answer to our questions and was  very knowledgeable about the home improvement process. The estimate that was given to us was right within our price range! They were very professional and completed everything we asked for in a timely manner. We were very pleased and would most definitely use them again as well as recommend them to anyone interested in having work done on their home.
