128 Plumbing Heating Cooling & Electric
Just two weeks ago, Charlie and Brian came out to my house to do a reclining of my main water pipe from basement to street. Over the recent years, the pipes had been getting clogged and backing up in our basement and making a mess. After Charlie came out and put a snake and camera down the water main, he explained how old and corroded the pipes were which is no surprise since they are over 100 years old. Charlie recommended a procedure that would reline the entire pipe using a special process that puts a think resin lining inside the pipe thereby completely reinforcing the pipe and sealing it so the inside is like new and is much less likely to get clogged. Its almost like having a new sewer main water pipe. Charlie, Brian, Levi, Amin, Brent, and Dean worked all day to get this done expertly and carefully. They did not have to do any digging outside the houseall they did was do dig around the pipe in my basement to replace some of the parts of the pipe in basement and then they smoothed it all over with cement. It is so nice to work with such knowledgeable and experienced professionals who are also incredibly nice and thoughtful and take the extra time to explain everything so feel completely confident in how the job was completed. Thanks to all of the guys at 128!

Salem Plumbing Supply & Designer Bath Co Inc
Salem Plumbing Supply (SPS) is engaging in "Bait and Switch" sales tactics. My apartment's American Water Heater broke down before the end of the warranty period. The American Water Heater sales distributor, Urell Inc, directed me to get a water heater replacement from Salem Plumbing Supply because it was the closest American Water Heater supply house to my home. On Wednesday, 1/30/19, I called SPS and spoke to Matt. I called SPS to ensure that they had a replacement water heater in stock. I also asked Matt if I could pay extra for a water heater with a longer life. Matt put me on hold, then came back to told me "Yes" if I paid an extra $132 I could have a longer life water heater. (This would be in addition to the $100 "restocking" fee for exercising the old heater's warranty.) Later that afternoon, my plumber insisted I call SPS and pre-pay them. In this way, when my plumber showed up the next day to retrieve the water heater from SPS, my plumber would not owe SPS any money. I called SPS back and spoke to Shawn. I explained to Shawn that I wanted to pay extra for a water heater with a longer life. Shawn put me on hold, then came back to told me "Yes" if I paid an extra $150 I could have that. The cost went up, from $132 to $150. But it was small enough that I didn't care. So, Shawn & I were in agreement, $100 restocking fee plus $150 for the longer life water heater. (I believe the longer life water heater was a 12 year life water heater, but it could have been 10 year life.) I gave Shawn all necessary details, my credit card information, etc. and expected SPS to hit my charge card, for $150, that day, 1/30/19. (I later found out that the SPS charge was not processed that day.) On Thursday, 1/31/19, my plumber, Mike Gogos of A&A Plumbing & Heating (617-627-9441) showed up at SPS to pick up my water heater replacement with the longer life. Mark at SPS refused to honor what Shawn (SPS) and I agreed to the day before. Mark had a whole long story about why everything was all wrong and a new proposal - $810 for the water heater I wanted and he was giving me a credit of $100 for my old water heater. So, really $910 minus $100 credit for the old water heater. SPS behavior, to my mind, amounts to an eleventh hour "bait & switch." With my plumber standing there at SPS counter, at the eleventh hour, SPS personnel changed the pricing. I instructed my plumber to walk away. Later that day, I bought a new water heater from Home Depot. "Bait & Switch" behavior is illegal in Massachusetts and I'd stay away from Salem Plumbing because they are engaged in unethical business practices.

    Evolved Mechanical LLC
They found the issue (fuse) quickly but tested everything out to be sure nothing else was wrong. They gave me the option of either going to pick up the fuses to replace (and the cost that would be) or show me how to do it to save a little money.

We had an excessively bad experience with this company. They arrived two hours late for a job without calling. One of the employees had a medical condition which caused him to become mentally impaired and act as if drunk. I spent an entire day missing my own work and literally chasing after him and fighting with him. It was horrible. I have sympathy for this person and in fact I tried to assist him with his medical emergency. My real issue is with the owner of the company who offered us no compromise. They charged us an excessive amount despite the fact that they never completed the work. When we rescheduled with them to have a different plumber finish they didnt show up. When my wife complained the owner told her she was trying to take advantage of somebodys medical condition. The truth is that we were being abused by a company who was not taking any responsibility for the incident.

First they had to come to estimate the job and disconnect the old range. They scheduled for 2-5 PM on a Friday. They called several times before the scheduled visit to ask if they could come immediately, but we weren't home. When the day came they kept delaying and finally said they couldn't make it until Monday. To connect the new range they said they'd come between 8 and 11 AM. They finally made it at 3 PM. The work was fine, but it was a simple job. Cost us $339.00.

    Ray Cadotte Plumbing & Heating
Professional, courteous, timely. Our boiler was acting up during the holidays and Ray quickly diagnosed the problem over the phone, and gave us a quick rundown on how to get it up and running. It was extremely easy to schedule a follow-up appointment to look at the issue a little further. Our boiler is running smoothly again, and we also have a better understanding of how our system was put together thanks to his advice.

    Riggs Plumbing and Heating
I called and first of all he answered the phone in a very weird and unprofessional way. I said I lived in somerville. I said I had called MANY plumbers and no one will do this simple job and he implied he could. he said text photo and address which I did immediately. then he texts back asking for address which I had already sent AND told him on the phone. I sent address again. finally after much prodding he says somerville is too far away!!!! could have said that on the phone in the first place and saved me the trouble and I would have moved on and made more calls yesterday. I thought I had someone who was agreeing to do the work! unprofessional.

Mike Gogos (the Owner) resolved an extremely difficult and time sensitive situation for me. He promptly returned my call and scheduled a timely visit to assess the situation. He explained everything that needed to be done and why. I always want to know, "Why?". Mike also gave me a reasonable estimate of the cost and was able to work me into his busy schedule. Mike interacted very well with the City Inspector and answered all questions and concerns to his satisfaction. The work was completed by the deadline. Thank you so much, Mike. I will definitely call you again.

    Lucey Company
They were great! I had called a few other plumbers and gotten some pretty high price estimates as well as being told I would have to wait for at least a week or more. I called Lucey and they were able to take care of the plumbing issues 2 days later. They were professional nice guys who did the work efficiently and charged for 2 hours (2 guys for 1 hour) which made perfect sense. I highly recommend them.

    Our House
I hired Our House to do a small remodeling job in our kitchen that would allow a dishwasher to be installed. The job from initial estimate to finished job was about a month. All members of the company I interacted with were responsive to questions and during the design phase I was given a good set of choices. This experience was the exact opposite of all scary contractor stories. The work was clean, timely, and free of additional stress. It was complete by the agreed upon deadline.
